Thoughts on Second-Round Quarterbacks
The draft's third and fourth quarterbacks came off the board late in the second round.
Louisville's Brian Brohm went 56th overall to the Green Bay Packers, and Michigan's Chad Henne went to the Miami Dolphins on the following choice.
A few issues arising from those selections:
* So is Joe Flacco really so much better than Brohm and Henne that the Ravens had to trade up to 18th, 38 spots ahead of where Brohm was drafted, to get him? It says here no.
* How would you like to be Aaron Rodgers? First he plummets through the opening round three years ago and gets drafted by the team that has Brett Favre at quarterback. Now, after waiting his turn and finally having Favre out of the way and retired, he watches the Packers use a second-round pick on a quarterback before he's even played one game as a starter? It's a rough business, all right.
* Henne could challenge John Beck for the starting job in Miami. Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano, the Dolphins' new brain trust, inherited Beck from the previous regime. Now they're tied to Henne.
