Benson's Arrest Creates New Headache for Bears
Tailback Cedric Benson's status with the Chicago Bears already was being questioned by some within the league before he was arrested over the weekend in Texas and charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
The questions undoubtedly will intensify now.
Benson was supposed to be the Bears' featured runner by now, three seasons into his NFL career. But he's run for only 1,593 yards and 10 touchdowns in those three seasons, and the Bears just used a second-round draft choice on running back Matt Forte of Tulane.
Club officials might end up regretting that they didn't get a tailback in the first round when highly regarded runners like Rashard Mendenhall of Illinois and Felix Jones of Arkansas remained available. The Bears instead used the 14th overall choice in the draft on offensive tackle Chris Williams of Vanderbilt.
Benson is coming off a broken leg suffered last season and now is facing possible league-imposed discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Shawn Alexander is available "cheap" and could easily fill for a year or so while the Bears find a replacement.
Why waste time with this bum Benson any longer????

They did draft a RB, Matt Forte, in the second round.
