Owners Also Talking About Adding 17th Regular Season Game
ATLANTA--NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell just conducted a news conference and said the owners voted to exercise the reopener clause in the labor deal because it was clear to them that the agreement wasn't working and they saw no need to wait until closer to the November deadline.
Goodell said the league is hopeful of striking a new deal with the union without a work stoppage.
Goodell said the owners also will discuss at today's meeting the possibility of adding a 17th regular season game at some point in the future. The preseason probably would be shortened by a game to compensate, Goodell said.
Goodell said the idea remains in its formative stages and the league is not yet ready to present a proposal to the union, which would have to ratify such a change to the schedule format.

The only way a 17th game could work fairly would be to have every team play a game at a "neutral" location, such as many of these international games. But can they find enough sites for 16 such games/year? How many games like Arizona/SF can Mexico City take?

Oh yeah make them work one more game, they will be paid more, on top of the at minimum MINIMUM!! they are making of $250,000 per season I would play a game every week of the year 52 games and be happy to make 10,000 a game, so it would equal about what I'm workin now

Why not ?? I'm tired of reading about so and so gets locked up for theft , dog fighting , manslaughter and everything else to give the game a black eye......I would play the game for free...B.S. .....They have had a free education in most cases and still get treated better than firefighters, policemen, teachers and alot of just normal folks that can no longer afford to go to the games....Bring back the guys that really would play for free let them make a good living with good benefits and lower the price of tickets because the pay is less ...more profit for owners on a lower margin ...damn..Bring back scabb football they really wanted to play !!!!!!!! If you do this the every day Joe can go and take his children...no character no play real simple! The games will still be very competative and the fans will come and keep the boys on the same team because it is a great place to play....Get the guys that are loyal to the team and the community they represent. Bring back glory and pride , and character, get rid of the damn thugs and the damn gun slingers , 1 year and gone.... Get the money and run ...I have a love for the game that is unreal , unfortunitely it is becoming nothing that i enjoy or can i identify with....Play with a bad knee and then let me pay your replacement more before he ever takes a pro snap...Thats crap !

That sounds like management for sure. We opt out of your labor deal, but oh yeah, we are also voting to make you work harder for the same money.
I don't sympathize with anyone in these multi million/billion labor deals because well, how the heck can I relate, I just work for a non-profit that actually makes a difference in people's lives, but I digress. The management principle is the same.
I'm sure the players would love one less preseason game, but do it without adding another regular season game for pete's sake.
Money grubbing wh*res.
