Upshaw Says Owners' Move Not Surprising
ATLANTA--NFL Players Association chief Gene Upshaw just spoke to reporters in a half-hour conference call. Upshaw said he wasn't the least bit surprised about the owners' decision today to terminate their labor deal with the union early.
"I expected that," Upshaw said. "I don't think that was a shock to anyone."
Upshaw said the union won't agree to a rookie wage scale, an issue raised by the league in its statement on the owners' vote earlier today.
