Ankle Surgery for C. Johnson

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson is scheduled to undergo ankle surgery Wednesday, a person familiar with the situation said.

It is expected that Johnson will be able to play by training camp.

Johnson, after demanding to be traded earlier in the offseason, showed up at a Bengals' minicamp last week but initially was unable to practice. He told team officials about the ankle problem.

Johnson did practice later in the minicamp but now will have his ankle problems addressed, apparently with the removal of bone spurs during Wednesday's surgery.
