J. Garcia Hurt in Bucs' Camp, Favre to the Rescue?

Quarterback Jeff Garcia has suffered an apparent injury to his right leg during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice.

According to an observer, Garcia was hurt during a non-contact passing drill and left the field on a cart.

He limped to the locker room after getting out of the cart.

The extent of the injury was not immediately clear.

The Buccaneers were among the teams, along with the New York Jets, to have expressed interest in trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, still retired for now.

It's possible that Garcia's injury, if serious, could lead the Buccaneers to intensify their pursuit of Favre. But Favre, at least so far, reportedly has not been interested in playing in Tampa, even though Buccaneers Coach Jon Gruden is a former Packers assistant and runs a version of the West Coast offense to which Favre probably could adapt easily.

Favre could, in effect, block any proposed trade he doesn't like by refusing to report to his new team. He retired in March but has applied to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement.
