Key NFL Question No. 8: Have Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb Stayed One Year Too Long in Philly?

My thoughts:

It's possible, but it's too soon to tell.

As last season wound down, it seemed highly possible that both Reid and McNabb would depart in the offseason. Reid had endured a difficult time with his sons' legal troubles, and there was talk that McNabb could be headed to the Chicago Bears or Minnesota Vikings.

But here they are, both back for another season in Philadelphia.

Eagles owner Jeff Lurie and team president Joe Banner are stay-the-course leaders. They hired Reid soon after taking over the franchise and Reid drafted McNabb, and Lurie and Banner have backed their coach and their quarterback steadfastly ever since. That hasn't always been a popular stance in Philadelphia, but it has been a productive one.

Now Reid and McNabb will try to carry the franchise back to its usual prosperous, winning way. If they fail this time, the clamoring in Philadelphia for the Eagles to move on with a new coach and new quarterback undoubtedly will intensify greatly.

(Eagles fan up)

I think Reid's here for a while, but McNabb is probably winding down his career no matter how well he plays. It's clear he's injury-prone and I've suspected the reason the Eagles drafted Kolb a couple years ago is that McNabb told them he wouldn't play for much longer.

I will watch with glee as that team goes nowhere and the fans of Stinkydelphia stew in their own rotten and disgusting bile! Hail To The Redskins!

I hope the Eagles have a good year this season, and I would like to see them contend for the division title just to get flippin SQUASHED by the COWBOYS the last game of the season and again in the playoffs if birds can scape a wildcard.
