P. Manning Should Be Okay for Colts' Opener

Peyton Manning has started all 160 regular season games of his 10-year NFL career.

That string will remain intact if the timetable given by the Indianapolis Colts is on target.

The Colts indicated that the quarterback will need four to six weeks to recover after undergoing surgery Monday to have an inflamed and possibly infected bursa sac removed from his left knee.

Four weeks from Monday is Aug. 11.

Six weeks is Aug. 25.

The Colts' preseason finale is Aug. 28 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Their regular season opener is Sept. 7 against the Chicago Bears.
