Elected Official Blames His Arrest on Fear of Black People
Fear Caused Bob Allen to Solicit Gay Sex From Undercover Cop
Paging spin doctors: Please report immediately to the press office of Bob Allen, a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Code Blue!
Political Humpty Dumpty Syndrome appears to be claiming yet another career, and as usual it was transmitted through a self-induced case of foot-in-mouth disease. The latest victim is Allen, a Republican from Merritt Island, Fla., who last month got arrested for attempting to solicit oral sex from an undercover police officer in a public restroom. Yes, the police officer was a male, and yes, Allen has a long history of anti-gay legislation. But it was his quick-thinking attempts to explain himself that appear to be hastening his demise.
Recently released police tapes and documents indicate that Allen first attempted to avoid arrest by telling the officers he was a legislator. When that failed, he switched from intimidation to playing the race card with an excuse that would make even Wally Terzinsky cringe. In his statement Allen explained that Danny Kavanaugh, the Titusville police officer from whom he allegedly solicited sex, was a "pretty stocky black guy." And because "there was nothing but other black guys around in the park," he became intimidated and did whatever he could to survive.
We've all been there, made so nervous by our racially diverse surroundings that we offer up 20 bucks to perform fellatio on the nearest person in a public bathroom. Still, as Allen maintained in his taped statement, the whole thing was a "bizarro world ... misunderstanding." Police, however, remained unconvinced -- perhaps because, at least as Kavanaugh tells it, Allen repeatedly approached him. Either way, the seven-year representative has been charged him with solicitation of prostitution and forced to resign as co-chairman of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign in Florida. He can also be added to the ever-growing number of pro-family conservatives embroiled in homosexual scandals.
Allen remains innocent until proven guilty, of course, but as we all know, the court of public opinion makes no such allowances. Especially in a case as rich with irony as this: Not only was Allen's voting record staunchly anti-gay, he also sponsored a bill last session to strengthen Florida's laws against public sex, lewdness and indecency. In addition, the Tampa police union saw fit to crown him the 2007 Lawmaker of the Year. Though he probably won't win back-to-back titles, Allen can take solace in the fact that he has earned a solid nomination for OFF/beat's 2007 Idiot of the Year Award.

Why are the most hyper anti-gay lawmakers the one's who always turn out to be gay themselves? Is it something in that communion wafer
Posted by: Titus | August 7, 2007 10:49 AM
What a joke. Why can't politicians learn to keep their lips zipped (as well as their pants)??
I agree with Left N Proud above Put him thru the meat grinder and forget about him.

To answer Titus's question: Its because repression leads to deviance. They are so afraid of who they are that they think by fighting and preaching against it they will some how change they're own identity.
Well anyone who knows people knows thats idiotic but these morons keep on fighting. If only they had been taught at a young age not to hate that which is different then they could be honest about themselves and the cycle would finally be broken.
If you want to pray for something, pray for that.

I'd pay 20 bucks to giggle that chin of his

First Ted Haggard, then Mark Foley, then Ken Mehlman (Former Republic National Committee Chairman), all with nasty anti-gay records, who turn out to be....gay themselves. Bill Allen was of course married with a kid, just like many other hatemongering "conservatives" out there. Visit http://www.blogactive.com to see lists of current "closeted" anti-gay legislators in Washington (including a Senator!) who have identical hateful records, and are having sex with men on the side. These hypocrites hate the fact that other gays can live openly and honestly, so they do everything to destroy that. Shame.

My heart goes out to Mr. Allen. I myself have often been lost in various American inner cities and have headed straight for a public restroom where I am able to ask strange black men for directions and subsequently blow them to demonstrate my friendliness - although twenty dollars seems a bit stiff.

Hey man can you give me directions to Crenshaw Ave... Come on man I'll suck yo ... Alright
Anyone want some cheeseburgers.
Seriously though this guy must be retarded to think he'd get away with saying that. They even tell him he is being recorded. Probably won't have to pay anything for gay sex where he's headed.

He was just staying in shape while the legislature is out of session. Got to keep your powers of persuasion sharp for good politicking.
Owww, Florida, thats America's Wang.

HA!! HAHA!!! HA! HA!
Why am I not hearing about this one on TV? I bet if he were black it would be on national television as "BREAKING NEWS".

Another proud day for the Sunshine State! Apparently Allen has no plans to resign and actually wants to run for the state senate next. The denial runs deep with this one.

How quickly the fake reporter with the fake name, planted in the White House Press Corps with after hour visits to the White House fell from view.
Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Wow... I know somehow I shouldn't take so much pleasure in a story like this... but I just can't resist.
Racism, homophobia... apparently they cancel themselves out somehow in the universe of that bathroom.

He's secretly working for Mayor Naugle. Trying to prove his point. Now I'm starting to wonder about the Mayor. Doth he protest too much?

We're watching this up here further north on the East Coast with glee [Philadelphia is pretty gay friendly].
I vote Republican often (mostly local elections... I'm anti-corruption, which is a plague with Pennsylvania Democrats)... but this just takes the cake.
I suck dick, and I'm a registered Republican, and I'm out. But I am sick of this neocon conservative hypocritical crap. These idiots have steered the Republican party down a bad path, letting corrupted churches and bad ideologues write the party's policies.
It's time to flush these people out of the Republican Party in the next election. We need jobs, we need less crime, we need to get out of Iraq.
We shouldn't put a president in office because some losers scared Ohioans into thinking gays are going to stop straight people from marrying and have sex on their suburban lawns.
Christ!

Man you can't MAKE this stuff up.
Posted by: Mike D | August 17, 2007 7:30 PM
Wow! Why arent these stories reported more in mainstream media. Its funny how Mike Vick made all the headlines, and here we have an elected official who is a hypocrite and desires everything he is not...Black Men; while doing everything in his might to strengthens the laws against the very thing that he is GAY! Incredible! The Republican Party is full of homophobic homosexual racist liars!!

Depraved, racist filth- all of them!
Just like Lindsay Lohan... Blame the nearest Black around just for being there...

answer to Titus 8/05. It has nothing to do with the wafer. You need to remove your bias, while reveling in his. Indeed, the man is foolish, oafish, and undeseserving of the trust placed in him.

Oops,I got the wrong date date. Titus' entry was 8/07, but he spelled riddance wrong. (I'm too particular.)

My son's 18, and gay. I don't want him to face discrimination based on whom he loves.
I agree that there are Republican idiots (and Democraticratic) steering us down a bad path, cheered on by corrupted leaders in churches across the nation. Where can we start to right the wrongs? Where are all the voters? How can we get them to understand their importance in the process?
How can we get tham to see that their vote WILL count?

Yet another racist, homophobic conservative caught in his own hypocrisy. I hope the press puts him through the meat grinder. GOOD RIDDENCE!
