Real, Strange News

Whether extraterrestrial life exists in the vastness of the universe is impossible to say. But we have explored all over Mars our nearest neighbor and found nothing. We are more likely to discover that the moon is made of green cheese than find bigfoot on mars.

It actually looks like somebody in DC waiting for a cab. Wait, that would be more like a skeletal figure, wouldn't it?

Maybe it is Bigfoot. He got tired of looking for intelligent life on earth.

about bigfoot and others were mentioning a connection to bigfoot, which I do not. Read all the posts about the Mars photo and you will see that I mention gestalts and the human brain seeing something familiar out of a pattern. There has also been a lot of controversy about bigfoot sightings tied to UFO sightings. I also discuss that.
I never implied that the object seen in the Mars photo was bigfoot, even though the image is very interesting.

I would love to believe that it is some kind of creature, but doubt it is. Looks more like an attempt to disprove something, rather than prove it.
Send out another picture of an image that will turn out to be an illusion of shadowing then all the believers will look silly.
But - The picture and other images should be investigated further.

I took another look at it after my recent post.
Try this - turn your head sidways and look at it. Now what do you see? Almost looks like a big face - in other words - it is very possibly an illusion.
You can also tell that there is a distinquent line through the middle of the picture with two different type of rock and sand. It appears to be either a ridge or one image layed over another.
My conclusion is that it is an optical illusion.
But if I'm wrong - We should send a diplomatic party to say hello to him and his friends!

The "figure" in question is only a few feet from the rover and only a few inches tall. Definitely not bigfoot

It's not a bigfoot and its not a TUMAH! It's Elvis Prestley can't you tell? That's his classic, "hey baby" pose. He moved there years ago and his toilet death was just a front. We are through the looking glass here people.

Might be sasquatch, ...or Elvis, or maybe Amelia Earhart. Or any number of people afraid to be on the same planet as Chuck Norris.

One thing I find interesting about this picture, that I have not seen anyone mention yet, is the fact that there are blue-green spots on the ground as well as the rocks.Could anyone explain this? All previous photographs of Mars are a tainted red landscape color, with no other colors present.

Really funny photo - but I think theres a huge difference between a mirage seen on a blurry photo and an enormous (1 mile long) ufo flying low and silent above cities, seen by thousands of persons (including authorities and pilots).

Clearly, it is not a LIVING biological organism. As we know from study of Mars, Mars's atmospheric conditions are no longer capable of supporting life as we know it.

The real question is whether the object in the picture is a statute, or a sculpture or some other form of 'art', i.e., something that resulted from intelligent manipulation rather than natural conditions.

Assuming it is a rock, I have to wonder why the media does not bother to ask a pretty simple question: how come this particular rock looks nothing like the thousands of other rocks surrounding it?

The rocks in the picture of this valley have been subjected to natural weather conditions for thousands of years and, while I am not a geologist, plainly demonstrate evidence of erosion and weathering, resulting in sharp, jagged edges, striations, and other features commonly seen on rocks on Earth that were exposed to weather conditions on Earth.

In sharp contrast, the rock now known as the woman on Mars evidences none of these characteristics. It appears instead more like a sculpture or statute than a rock weathered by erosion and other natural forces.

Elements of the rock giving it this characteristic of design are what appears to be a head, shoulders, torso, thigh, and right arm draped across its body.

I suppose it is theoretically possible for a jagged rock to be weathered by natural processes over thousands of years to the point where it randomly takes on five key points of the shape of human anatomy. Possible, but highly unlikely!

Unable to explain the human like characteristics of the figure by resorting to explanations based on natural weathering and erosion over time, NASA and the media have resorted to arguments based on light and shadow and human psychological tendency to see anthropomorphic shapes in natural objects -- i.e., human faces in clouds.

Those would be good explanations if the five key points of comparison between this rock and human anatomy were coincidental one dimensional resemblances easily explained by tricks of light and shadow or the human imagination. i.e., the face of Elvis on a grilled cheese sandwich.

But, that is not the case here. The resemblance to a human figure is unmistakable and it is not a flat one dimensional resemblance like the face of Elvis in a grilled cheese. It is a dimensional resemblance, the kind seen in works of art where intentional representation of the human figure is a result of design.

It could be a trick of light and shadow. Obviously, the only way to really determine that is through further analysis of the object itself directly or multiple photographs of it, if available.

If the object's resemblance to a human being can't be explained by natural atmospheric weather conditions (e.g., erosion), by tricks of light and shadow in photography (possible), or human tendency to see human images in natural formations (unlikely), then what is the only remaining possible explanation?

I understand the media's natural reluctance to take anything involving the subject of alien life (past or present) seriously, no matter how dramatic the visual and photographic evidence may be, but, if life once existed on Mars (most recent scientific evidence suggest conditions were once highly conducive to life as we know it on Mars in the past) and if such life was intelligent (as evidenced by the present existence of statuary or sculpture, e.g., art) and this photograph is demonstrable evidence of such past life on Mars, then it is the most significant scientific discovery since relativity, and maybe, just maybe, it might merit a little more solemn analysis and discussion than Bigfoot jokes, especially from one of the most respected newspapers in the country, don't you think?

I think it's time I kill all of you for being so gullible and stupid. It's a rock about 2 inches tall.

I think the world is flat and the sun is the center of the universe. Why would I believe in Bigfoot or atoms or infrared light? If I don't see it for myself, I don't believe it.

It could be a statue left by an ancient civilization, which also built the mars pyrmaids and face on mars. Perhaps that civilization eventually left mars due to global cooling and migrated to egypt, earth.

It is interesting to read and hear all the comments, jokes, sarcasm, cynicism and heartfelt perceptions from the media and all kinds of people about the Stephenville case and related things. It could be that there is also room for some serious and deep thinking about these situations since there may be some important implications, one way or the other. I would lie to say first how funny it is that the Airforce quickly responded by saying they were no where near the Stephenville, TX UFO site, but later all of sudden said "oh wait, yeah we were" after admitting to not being there at all. Sounds like attempted cover-up, as though someone(the Government) told them to go back on their first decision and change it. Now as far as Bigfoot, I don't know, but I do believe this could actually be something/someone on Mars. If people can't definitively distinguish a rock from a shadow from a NASA technician in a bigfoot suit, then how the hell are they doing science with all these expenisve photos ???

Disprove the following:

A) It's an artifact such as a statue from an ancient extinct civilization revealed after winds removed the sand that covered it. (not unlike discovering artifacts in the sands of Eygpt)

B) The mumified or petrofied or frozen remains of a previous inhabitant. (remember the ice embedded Ice Man, in the mountains of Europe a few years back)

Of what I can see from a zoomed-in shot that I have, (about half the distance),is a fiqure that actually appears to be in a kneeling position. Follow the anatomy..head, arm, torso, thigh, knee and the rest of the leg bent back under the thigh. The lower part of the face is covered with it's arm while it looks to the Spirit rover. The rest of the face and head, from the arm up, has the "classic" alien features, 2 large black eyes and a large egg shaped head.

I find it interesting that no one is talking about the fact that the Martian's pet turtle can be seen walking just ahead of him. It could also be that the Martian is hunting it. This opens the door for other questions. Are turtles faster than humanoids on Mars? Is it due to the atmosphere, or genetics? Are Martians omnivores or carnivores, and if so, does vegetarianism go against the natural order? Does this mean all bigfoot pictures are really pictures of rocks?

It's strange, odd, bizarre, yet maybe just a rock.
I prefer the razor of Occam in this particular picture.

If you take the photo and zoom in on it closely, you can see clearly that what appears to be the "head" and "arm" are the same color as the shadows in the background, whereas the color in the "torso" area is the blue-greenish color and it is triangular shaped. The head and arm are slightly less focused because they are farther away. Its a pretty cool looking illusion though.

I wondered where I left that.

Whether the image is real or fake, I don't really know. Looks like someone just sits down there enjoying the view. It's easy to make fun about statements, other people's opinions. Why was shown on the national television first of all? Just wondering what is the scope behind it!

I found this photograph to be very offensive. Not only is the creature obviously naked, it is also pointing directly toward its own genitals.

As a taxpayer I'm outraged that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has spent so many billions of dollars just to bring this kind of Martian pornography into the living rooms of honest, decent, hard-working American citizens.

Whether this is bigfoot, a person or not picturedon Mars, which could have been doctored of course as is that easy to do these days, the important factor remains the debate about Et's, Aliens, Ufo's and Flying saucers is once more the rage of the age. we have confirmed , the being on the rock and the one down to the right were waiting for a cosmic event that engulfed mars , a violent solor blast that stripped mars of atmosphere and insinerated everthing that did not have some percentage of protective shielding.
