Ummmm
First of all, I'm linked on the Potomac Curling Club's site, thanks to all.
Second of all, alert reader Matt just wrote in with a link to this Jimmy Golen AP story, that includes this passage:
The USA Curling Web site crashed Thursday after receiving 12.9 million hits with 680,000 unique visitors, spokesman Rick Patzke said. On their own site, the Curl Girls received messages of support, many of them from U.S. military bases, and marriage proposals from out of the blue."It's amazing the support we've gotten from the military people," Johnson said. "People (who) said before they made jokes about curling now have some respect for it."
"Curling" was as high as third on the MSN.com search engine during the week -- behind "Dick Cheney" and "assassin spider" -- and Johnson was the No. 2 athlete search on the U.S. Olympic Committee site, behind only halfpipe gold medalist Shaun "Flying Tomato" White.
Third of all, this arena is about to explode with people cheering for Joel mit der mullet and the Italians. The talk in the media center is that Euro Sport is amazed at the viewership curling is drawing, and that CNBC's curling numbers are way up, and that hundreds of thousands are watching games, live, at 3 a.m. local time in Canada.

My husband, myself and my 15-year-old son have gotten seriously hooked on curling, thanks to the CNBC broadcasts, the fun and educational commentary by the two Dons, and Dan's hilarious blogging! And we just want send our best to the Kiwi curlers - Kia ora, mates! We're cheering for you!

Quick correction to Jack's comment: Men's Worlds will be at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Mass., not at Broomstones Curling Club (which is 30 minutes away in Wayland, Mass).
Either way, you should go. Several of us Potomac folks will be there...

Out of curiosity, are you going to be blogging from the World Men's Curling Championships (www.wcc2006.org) being held this year at Broomstones Curling Club in Lowell, MA?
There won't necessarily be interesting cheeses, insane bus drivers, or international checkpoints for cellphone recovery, but hey its probably a heck of a lot easier to pitch a trip to Massachussetts to your editors than to Italy.
