The Popemobile is On Its Way

From the Catholic News Service, a report on the Popemobile, the specially designed car that is used by the pope for public appearances. CNS says it will arrive in the U.S. early next month.

There are actually three Popemobiles at the Vatican. The one that will be used during the pope's U.S. visit has a top that is a cube made of bullet-proof plastic with a high seat in it so the pope can be seen. (Yes, it's kind of strange looking.)

In Washington, D.C., the pope is expected to make at least two trips through the streets of the city in the Popemobile. The routes haven't been announced.
