SXSW: Friday Haiku-Reviews
Howlin Rain
Classic rock update
Riffs like Deep Purple and Free
Just need a blacklight
Monotonix
Beer poured down the pants
Garbage dumped on drummer's head
Nothing quite like it
The Night Marchers
It sounds like Hot Snakes
Makes sense - John Reis fronts the band
Agit-punk done right
Jay Reatard
Yes, I saw him thrice
Don't judge until you've seen him
You'll be a convert
A Place to Bury Strangers
Pedals, more pedals
And some more pedals to boot
Louder than bombs. SQUEEEEEEEAL!!!!
The Homosexuals
Post-punk-dub cult faves
Made me jump and scream and shout
Best show of the year
Los Llamarada
Mexican noise rock
Sounds like Flipper; that is good
Your mom would hate it
Half Japanese
Underground legends
Old dudes rocking, having fun
Mom would hate this, too
Psychedelic Horse[deleted]
Like Times New Viking
But grimier and lo-fi
Again: Not for mom
Destroyer
Eloquent wordsmith
Mini-epics with drama
New songs sounded great

Hail WFMU! Los Llamarada rocked! Too bad you missed Kelley Stoltz, who was also very good. The Homosexuals definitely ruled the night! I managed to see Horse$%*! several times this week. Didn't try to, though; they were just wherever I was. I think they thought I was a groupie...
