From Swords to Phasers
Bethesda is trying to follow up on its hit Oblivion using the Star Trek franchise to do it. September will mark the 40th anniversary of the original TV series, and to commemorate Bethesda is releasing a game called Star Trek Legacy.
In this real-time tactical/stragety game, you can command every Enterprise from every show and movie in the history of series -- plus Romulans, Klingons, even the Borg.
As a single player you follow a historical where you command all Federation ships starting with the first warp-capable starship as featured in the "Enterprise" television series, all the way up to Galaxy-class ships. In multiplayer, you get to command all kinds of ships against other players.
They are trying for a simultaneous Xbox 360 and PC release to support the anniversary.
I did get to play Legacy a bit -- the ship models are completely gorgeous. They look better than what you see on the TV shows.

Now that would be sweet on the Nintendo Wii ... why aren't they doing it? Think of the fencing in a few Star Trek TV episodes, for example, or other events ...
