To the Peterson family:
I had the opportunity to see Erin play basketball last year and she was outstanding on the court, but even more outstanding as a leader at Westfield. I have spoken with many friends whose daughters were mentored or encouraged by Erin. She made a significant impact in her short life and the Westfield Community WILL NOT FORGET ERIN! We send you our good thoughts and know that Erin is in heaven with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I remember Erin from when we were freshmans in high school. I sat next to her, and didn't say anything. She was very outgoing, so she as loud as she's always had been introduced herself to me with that big beautiful smile. I the same to her. From then on we were friends. I used to be mad because I never really got biology, Erin would help me with my homework, and help me prepare for the test. She told me if she's not failing, then neither would I, because she would help me every step of the way. And she followed through with her promise. Erin always kept her promise. She always wanted people to be happy. Everytime she thought I looked sad, Erin would give me a big hug, and tell me to cheer up because everything would be okay. I cried when I heard Erin was dead. I immediately started praying. I now sit back and reminisce knowing Erin as a person and even though I'm extremely sad, I sit there and find myself laughing, because she was a very funny person. I can only remember the goodtimes. If I wasn't laughing Erin wasn't satisfied and she would try her hardest to make me laugh. I'm grateful for knowing Erin. I pray for Erin, and I pray for Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, and the rest of the family.

Psalms 121 verses 1 and 2 quote " I will lift my eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help, all of my help cometh from the Lord." Words can not express my deepest sympathy and my heartfelt sorrow, just a few words of encouragement from a small town in Texas. Even though weeping may endure for a night but I know that joy will come in the morning, keep Gods faith and the family will continue to be in my prayers.

My Dear Family in Christ, I, too, have a daughter, 18, first year basketball in college in J.C. after playing 4 years varsity in high school in three four different sports in three seasons...varsity in all. As I read about your daughter, because she's a sister and I wanted to know about her, she mirrored my daughter in so, so, so many ways. It was almost like they were describing my daughter, only more mature. I am a single parent of four for the last 18 years and my girl is the only one, with three big brothers. My heart goes out to you and I can't imagine what you're going through. As a matter of fact I CAN imagine but that's all. I can't pretend to know what you're going through and I will always pray for you and yours as well as this precious little child...but rest assured, God has his arms wrapped around her now until you all meet again. He really is the only answer. Turn to him and just believe that it will be taken care of. So, all of you be good so that you will see her again, because you know where she is now. No better place to be.

To the Peterson family

As soon as I heard Erin's name on the news her smiling face came to my mind. My daughter attended Merritt Academy with Erin. Erin was always a loving and strong young woman. I I remember Erin speaking at the graduation ceremony for Merritt a few years after her graduation and I recall how impressed I was with her message to the younger students. She was truly an inspiration to her peers and they have all benefitted from knowing Erin. Erin embodied all the characteristics that the Merriett Academy impressed on their students. Erin will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless You

I have a 18-year old son who is a college freshman at a state supported university in South Carolina and this fact heightened my sensitivity to your situation and tragedy.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you. I have prayed that God will sustain and strengthen you as well as the loving memories of Erin who is now one of God's ANGELS watching over and smiling down on you.

Erin Peterson,
Four years of basketball together, you always made me play better. Erin, now when I play, I will think of you, and hope you will give me the strength and courage to play as well as you did! You were and still are immeasurable, no one can top you at your achievement on and off the court. I can remember our first game against each other, man I was icing for hours after that game! Thank you for showing how to be a better post-player... you will never be forgotten, and whenever I pray before my games, I will pray that you will watch the game, because that next one and everyone after that is dedicated to you! I pray for your family, and even though I am at a loss of words, I can only say this, I pray that you will never be forgotten and that your parents will be embraced with the great memories of you playing ball!

Miss you, and AAU will never be the same...
God Bless You Erin Peterson

She carried herself in such a professional, respectful manner that impressed us all. What a wonderful tribute to the caring, loving parents you are to have raised such a honest, dedicated, responsible young woman.
