A Tall Addition

While guard Jason Clark and center Zack Crimmins have garnered much of the attention from college coaches visiting O'Connell this fall, the Knights' newest player also is catching their eye.

Frank Ben-Eze, a 6-foot-11 Nigerian, should prove to be an interesting addition to O'Connell's lineup, joining the 7-foot Crimmins in the frontcourt.

"Georgetown and Clemson did not see him because he arrived at school a week late getting his visa but Maryland has seen him [and] Virginia, Connecticut, Virginia Tech, N.C. State," O'Connell Coach Joe Wootten said. "Everyone loves him, but no one has [offered a scholarship] yet. He could be pretty good. He's still learning some things. He's naturally strong and works very hard. He plays better every time I've seen him play."

Crimmins, the 7-footer, is scheduled to visit Columbia this weekend; he also is considering scholarship offers from and has visited Lafayette and Bucknell. The choice for Crimmins, Wootten said, will be whether to take one of those offers or play his senior season and try to stir interest in bigger programs. Boston College and Tulane have recently called about Crimmins, Wootten said.

Clark, the 6-3 third-team All-Met junior, "probably is going to make a decision in the spring," Wootten said, between Maryland, Virginia and Georgetown. "I'm not sure how far he wants to go away from home."

Junior guard Jason Burns has interest from George Mason, Virginia Commonwealth and Mount St. Mary's, Wootten said.
