Top Recruit Set to Pick Today
Huntington, W.Va., star forward Patrick Patterson is expected to announce his college choice this afternoon. Yesterday, one of his teammates announced his choice of a Division III school and Huntington officials used the opportunity to stage a mock new conference because of the anticipated circus. Personally, I think this shows just how out of whack things are, when so many people are so interested in where one teenager is going to college. Heck, Patterson wasn't even the best player on his own high school team - see Mayo, O.J.

You don't have to look far to see why things are so out of whack when it comes to the high school recruiting scene. AAU coaches, shoe salesmen, street recruiters, and hangeroners are all hoping to get a piece of the pie from large, undereducated, young men who are easily led.
