Gilchrist Gets Release, What's Next?
Augustus Gilchrist has been given a release from his letter-of-intent by Virginia Tech and now can start trying to figure out his future plans. It ought to be interesting to see how things work out. Gilchrist had planned to go to prep school and applied to one high school as an undergraduate before being denied admission. His personal trainer, Terrelle Woody, said he expects Gilchrist to take some campus visits this fall before making a decision.

After backing out of playing for a rising school in the ACC; hopefully he'll end up in another premier conference, like the MAAC..maybe at perennial powerhouse Iona.
Good luck Augustus, I have no doubt that your integrity will carry you far in life.

Will you be this critical of a player if he committed to another school then changed his mind and committed to Virginia Tech?

If there was another player flying well below the national scouting radar that signed with a school when not too many schools were interested in him.....then in his/her senior year exploded onto the national scene and became a blue chip prospect opening the door to pretty much ANY school....then used a tragedy to back out of the Letter of Intent....yes, I would be as critical of him/her.
