Hokies Running Away With In-State Recruiting

Okay, back in business after a week off and there's plenty to blog about. But this item should provoke thought among local football fans.

Man About Roanoke Doug Doughty has an early version of his list of the top prospects in Virginia. Virginia Beach quarterback E.J. Manuel, who has committed to Florida State, is atop the list, with Stonewall Jackson running back Ryan Williams the highest-rated player from Northern Virginia, coming in at No. 4.

Of the 40 players on the list, 14 have committed to Virginia Tech, one to Virginia and one to Maryland. That's pretty stunning. Of the remaining 26, seven are considering Virginia Tech, five Virginia and five Maryland - though that includes three players considering all three of those schools.
