Star Sophomore Set to Announce
O'Connell sophomore guard Kendall Marshall, who first made A1 of The Post at age 11, today will announce his college decision. Knights Coach Joe Wootten said Marshall will pick between North Carolina, Georgetown and Villanova.
Am I the only one to think this is just another example of the recruiting process run amok, where a 10th-grader with one year of high school basketball under his belt holds scholarship offers from the nation's top programs and is ready to make a decision? I know that USC has a firm hold on middle school scouting -- although Florida's Billy Donovan could be catching up -- but why must the recruiting timetable continue to speed up on fast-forward?
