Recruit Makes His Pick On X-Mas

Everyone celebrates their holidays differently. Suspended Eleanor Roosevelt coach Rick Houchens wished me a merry ho-ho-ho yesterday and called to say that defensive back Okechukwu Okoroha had committed yesterday morning to play for Boston College.

Houchens said that Okoroha also had taken visits to Virginia and Illinois but opted for the Eagles where he plans to room with Friendly running Josh Haden.

Eleanor Roosevelt football coach Rick Houchens, who turned the Raiders into one of the region's top teams, has been suspended for the rest of the season along with one of his assistants after a Prince George's County infractions committee ruled a player had improperly enrolled at the Greenbelt school last year.

"They should have known [this player was] not in their zone," Prince George's supervisor of athletics Earl Hawkins said, noting the investigation is continuing and includes an examination of players on this season's team

I read in one publication that Houchens was suspended indefinetly and is not allowed to coach in PG county until the Superintendent lifts the suspension. This sounds like he was fired.
