Another Perfect 10 (Plus) for DeMatha

Nobody puts players in college like DeMatha, which this year has 11 players already signed or committed to Division I schools. (The Ivy League and service academies don't participate in the letter-of-intent program.)

From 1990 to 2005, the Stags had double-digit Division I recruits every year, but fell off with only eight in 2006 and nine last year.

"It's been a good stretch," DeMatha Coach Bill McGregor said. "We're just glad to get it back up to double-digits again. You just have to keep going that way."

The list so far:
RB Ashby Christian Navy 6'0 210
FB Ryan Clarke West Virginia 6'1 220
TE Joe Collura Air Force 6-5 260
DB Jonathan Mason Harvard 6'3 205
OL Rob McDowell Delaware 6'3 260
OT Stanley Henry Morgan State 6'3 290
WR Rodney McLeod Virginia 5'11 187
DB Jonathan Mason Harvard 6'3 205
LB Richard Ndubueze Morgan State 6-1 208
OL D.J. Sellman Liberty 6'6 330
WR Kenny Tate Maryland 6'4 210

Also , making Division III commitments:
WR James Peters Johns Hopkins 6'1 175
DG Rion Robinson Albright 6'0 260

And the Stags aren't done. McGregor expects that some other players could accept scholarships in the coming days, as some schools find they have one or two extra slots available.

All that said, McGregor agrees that too much emphasis is put on players who have yet to attend their first college class or practice.

"They're high school kids, they're babies," McGregor said. "For the life of me, I can't figure it out. But that's where we're heading, getting younger and younger."
