Some Local Commitments
Jae Jackson, who guided the Bowie football team back to success in recent seasons, emails to report that defensive backs De'von Richardson and Rod Hill are bound for Navy and Marist, respectively.
Also, Big Boss Man Dan Uthman has the report that Old Dominion got a verbal commitment from its sixth Washington-area player this weekend when South River quarterback Bobby Cooper chose the Monarchs.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Cooper will be a part of the first recruiting class for ODU, which has revived its program after 60 years and begins play in fall 2009.
You can read more about Cooper in this preseason story, and -- assuming the Redskins don't hire Steve Spagnuolo today -- look for more on ODU's first year of recruiting in tomorrow's Post.
