Breaking News, Stop The Presses

Skins re-signed S Curry Burns; put S Pierson Prioleau on IR with his season-ending knee surgery pending.
Burns was around in camp then cut, but the team really needs DBs, big time, and guys who know the system a bit, since Burns very well might end up dressed for the Dallas game.
It's a short week, and not much time to practice.
After starters Archuleta and Taylor, there is not much proven depth at safety. Vernon Fox is a pro, but has only been here a few weeeks or so. Burns was on the practice squad last year with the Skins.

There is proven depth at CB, though, and it has proven to suck. How about some CBs that won't get rolled by Owens and Glenn this weekend?

whatever happened to garnell wilds??

Posted by: hmmm | September 13, 2006 1:37 PM

Isn't Ahmad Plummer (another SF castoff) still available??? He's got to be better then at least a couple of our guys. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would miss Walt Harris.

It just occurred to me that I believe 3 backups from our secondary are starters elsewhere this year: Ryan Clark - PITT, Omar Stoutmire - NO and Walt Harris - SF

TO is crying himself to sleep tonight.

Posted by: Curry Burns | September 13, 2006 2:10 PM

TO is crying...

...because he still can't find QBs that can get him the ball consistently as he tears through the second secondary in a row to imitate swiss cheese.

Deion Sanders may be available for a rediculously absurd amount of $$... AT&T and Nike might not be giving him what Dan Snyder could.

Yeah, whatever happened to Garnell Wylds? Was he summoned back to the Predator's home planet.

"We're a football team. Not assassins!!"

Is Ade Jimoh so off the charts outside of special teams he's not even considered for real playing time? Not that I'm advocating such craziness, just asking.

Mr. Burns is back!

Release the hounds!

"We see you, Curry!"

Curry in a hurry.....

Posted by: Sting | September 13, 2006 2:56 PM

Curry will bury TO...

Garnell Wilds, man, brings back memories of 2004. He'll alwaays have that one game against Minn, where he covered Randy Moss so well that the dude ran off the field early and ended his career as a Viking. At least that's the way I remember it.
Could Curry Burns exact the same kind of beat down on TO this weekend?

Posted by: Jason La Canfora | September 13, 2006 3:39 PM

"We see you Curry."
Is that my main man from training camp? They should make an exception and let him be the fan representative at all practices. It would make it a lot more fun to watch these guys stretch with that guy providing the soundtrack.

why the redskins signed T.J Ducket?
isn't he the big guy for short yards?
if he is ..then why he didn't play Monday night.we had the chances the we could turn around this game in our favorite..but..four times in the end zone..1 touch down..with T.J ducket.we would have been 14 points over vikings...
ofcourse this is my opinion..my not count.

Can Curry kickoff by any chance?

Posted by: John Hall | September 13, 2006 4:23 PM

Any chance of wooing Darrell Green out of retirement?

Posted by: OD | September 13, 2006 4:59 PM

And with the signing of Curry Burns, the Redskins now have on their roster a player whose name constitutes a complete sentence without relying upon a proper noun as the subject.

So we spend a keg of cash on Brandon Lloyd, but refuse to overpay for Ty Law or Adam Vinateri?

This may explain why Vinny got fired from the lowly 49ers and ESPN...he is an idiot. I thought his only job was to procure talent. The best you can get with Danny's wallet is some jagoff named Curry Burns. Vinny, want a veteran that is still available, and probably better than any out there: Ray Mickens. Look into it and do at least a credible job for once in your god forsaken life.

Posted by: Kevin | September 13, 2006 5:04 PM

Ray Mickens??? Yeah, that's a great idea. Remember Chris Dishman? Superstar on other teams, comes to the Skins old and washed up and either gets burned or gets pass interferance calls. That's exactly what you'd get w/ Mickens...

Garnell was spending time on the Carolina Panthers roster, but pulled a Jr. Winslow this summer, according to the Panthers blog entry i found that said he tore an ACL in a "motor-scooter" incident in June.

Posted by: TxSkin | September 13, 2006 6:24 PM

RAY MICKENS?!?!?!?! That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Wow. Someone suggesting we sign a guy Albert Connell burned (this was before he left the Skins for NO and started stealing from his teammates' lockers). Good times.

I really hope our secondary is not that bad...

Inside the NFL said the Skins don't have a prayer Sunday night against the Boys. They said the Skins are gonna come after Bledsoe trying to force mistakes but TO and Glenn will eat our secondary's lunch. With all of our question marks, I still believe "on any given Sunday". That's why they play the game baby. Go Skins!!!
