Dolla Bill/Shawn Springs
Portis was practicing fully during the portion of drills we get to see. Everyone seems in agreement that he will play a big role in Houston and is ready to go.
Springs, however, was not on the field at all today thus far. The exact severity of hiw new groin injury is unknown, but everyone around here said the defense is preparing without him and it does not appear possible for him to play this weekend. Gregg Williams speaks after practice, so we'll see what he says.
DT Joe Salave'a was on the field but in sweat clothes and no pads. He has a calf injury and was moving around okay, but did not appear he would take part in any of the real portion of practice. His injury status will be updated after practice.

Did Portis wear a costume during his press conference? Didn't that used to happen on Thursdays? Only then will he truly be back...

Guys, thanks so much for your concern for my daughter. That's awesome of all of you. As I've said before, you guys rock.
No dress up for Clinton today, although he did say he is 105 percent (thanksfully he's not running a 105 degree temperature, as that sideline "reporter" said Big Ben was Monday night.
As for the offense, spent a fair bit of time with Saunders this afternoon for a story that will run in Saturday's paper.
I would say that anyone who read The Remedy entry the other day on the blog would have an idea of what to expect.

Not only has Rogers been torched more than "Survior", but he's dropped 2 sure interceptions in the past 2 games. At least ol' Walt Harris could catch.

I think Mark Brunell will have a better game only because Clinton Portis takes his pass blocking task more seriously than Ladell Betts or T.J. Duckett. ESPN had an overhead shot of Brunell in the pocket and Duckett in particular just did not even bother with his blocking assignment after the first touch (I don't remember who got the sack, but it came from Brunell's right).

Shantee, good comment regarding Rogers (aka butterfingers)....let's keep in mind Rogers coulda broke open the Playoff game against Seattle last season if he didnt drop the interception; he coulda crawled to the endzone had he caught that.
Same deal with the drop against the Boys...easy TD down the left sideline had he held onto it.
It's obvious Rogers ain't a #1 CB...he was great against the #2 WRs last year, but can't handle the heat/pressure of the bigtime playaz.

That was the knock on Springs coming out of Seattle: He's prone to injury.
I'm worried about Sunday's game. I'm not worried about them losing (honestly, they can't lose the Texans, they just can't ... right?), but about the numbers Brunell may put up with Portis back there. I'm concerned he'll post some huge stats, and a false sense of security will surround this team. And hell, if you're gonna start Campbell back there, might as well let ARE play QB.
