1 TCCL - K Fed. He blew it. What the over/under on number of months before he turns up in rehab? He's lonely and in need of a friend out there on the mean streets of Hollywood. Maybe The Snyder can finance a movie deal for him.

2 TCCL - The Funky Bunch. That is what they call those dude who dance in the end zone at FedEx right? Someone needs to stop that. It's played out. I don't blame those dudes for doing their thing, but I find it hard to believe a crowd of 90,000 is really going to get pumped up by that. It's s speck on the field to the diehards in the upper bowl.

4 TCCLs - Danny Smith. Dude takes some heat when special-teams problems arise, but deserves credit for the call that led to the blocked field goal.

5 TCCLs - Troy Vincent. Sparing Archie further public beatdowns by being on the field, if nothing else.

5 TCCLs - What's a Kyle Kosier?

5 TCCLs - James Thrash. As good a guy as I have seen in sports. Total team guy. And always makes a point to ask me how Chloe is doing, remembering her name and everything. Totally genuine human being. Actually feel bad lumping his name in with the same entry as K Fed., but alas, such is life in the blogosphere.

LMAO. But we have so much fun giving him beatdowns.

3 TCCLs to SallieMae for a week of short posts

5 TCCLs to Scott for N.O. Mission
5 TCCLs for the blog crew. (too many names to list and you know I am not suppose to be on here right now)

Not to split hairs JLa, that's the Funky Four and the act was considerably less annoying when it was two full minutes of the the boys dancing, as opposed to 1.5 minutes of FedEx commercial followed by 30 seconds of dancing.

And SallieMae, you're actually quite charming when you're posting original material and not spamming us. Did you see yourself on the Replay broadcast?

If this team manages to struggle to an 8-8 finish, I have a feeling that we'll look back on the acquisition of Troy Vincent as the decisive turning point for the defense.

Thrash doesn't seem to get much respect but he has to be one of the best pure athletes on the team.

5 TCCLs - Bob Saget's show last night at GW. The man is out of his mind and I love it.

5 TCCLs - Clinton's mom for laying a backhand on some Philly trash last year and hopefully again on Sunday.

2 TCCL - Boofer - You showed up for one day; how about the other two? You promised, man!

4 TCCL - Jason Witten - Thank you, sir, for crowing about your catch against Archubingas at the line, and then allowing Vincent to scoot by you and pull your defeat out of the gaping jaws of certain victory. I officially declare that you have annointed a new word in my fun-cabulary - 'outwitten'.

5 TCCL - Troy Vincent - He's helping to get the defense somewhere closer to orderly, even if there are a few serious gaps. And his punt block stopped my devotion to the Redskins from hitting rock bottom and proceeding to dig. It's about time we stopped getting burned by a Troy.

5 TCCLs - The lot of you bloggers. You give me a little laughtime, you put up with my lengthy missives, and you make me look like a fricking genius when I can pull numbers and figures out of seemingly thin air to stun workmates, blindside friends, and scare little children when talking about the Skins. Thankyoo!

An open letter to the Skins Secondary,

Hey guys. How's it going? I know things have been rough this year. You have a roatating lineup because of injuries and signings, etc., and things haven't gone as well as expected. It stinks for all of us, but I know it's probably hardest on you.

I know I am a lowly fan, but here's my solution. Start having fun. Start swarming around the ball and making plays. Sounds simple enough, but I know it's harder than just saying "do it." I'm going to provide a plan too.

1) Swoop, get to know Troy. He's been a very good player in his career, and is very knowledgeable. More than that, he is a great person. Did you hear what he had to say about moving into the starting role? He's a team player, and he wants to help the team win. You are unbelievably talented, but you've still got a lot to learn. Let him help guide you on the field, and then let your instincts move you. This combination of mental and physical abilities WILL produce results. I am overly confident of this fact.

2) Archuletta, this year's been the hardest on you. Some may argue that you've brought it on yourself, but not me. You were placed on a very high pedestal, and you were not ready for it (physically or mentally). I think everything that has gone wrong has been magnified because of this pedestal.

Here's what you do about it now: work hard and forget the past. You are in a hole with the fans, but it's easy to get out with us. Start hitting people -- hard. Fly down the field on punt coverage and decapitate someone. Maybe sit down and talk to Marcus about "bringing your lunch pail;" he knows what he's talking about.

More than all of that, know your role, as it stands now, perfect your role and then work your way back up. The fans will make you feel appreciated if you do, I promise.

3) Shawn and Carlos, grab a pick or two. You're CBs, so you need to forget what's happened thus far. Eight games forgotten, eight to play. Remember that.

4) All of you: go share some beers, some soy, wheat grass shakes or maybe even head over to cPort's place for a pole dancing lesson. I don't care. Just start having fun together and communicating. Become a family back there and treat each other like it on the field.

Shawn and Troy, you two are the older brothers. Teach Carlos and Swoop how to perfect their trades. Archuletta, you're like the adopted white kid in a bad "edgy racial" comedy. You are the odd man out here, but everyone in the family loves you like you were their own. You provide us with a comedic punchline (your name) and a lot of unwanted drama (Witten, wTF!?!), but learn to be a part of the family and work within its structure, and you will flourish.

Sorry my fellow bloggers. That was long, but it's something that I had stuck in my head and needed to hash out.

I want to echo the 5 TCCLs for Troy Vincent because I really do think he (along with Springs) can be a calming influence in a young secondary, and help teach them to play smart on the field.

HAIL!

Who's the Clipboard B of the week? I thought we were adding that in...
Hey Bucktown... I've been needing some fatherly advice as well. Any sage words for how to finish my Friday off strong?

When did everyone fall in love with James Thrash??? I'm not trying to get everyone on the hate wagon, I just had the impression that he was one of those guys that annoyed everyone and didn't do enough for the team to qualify as a big time fan favorite. He caught a few 3rd and long passes for 1st down and all of a sudden he's our anemic offense's savior? Maybe it was just in my circle of friends that he was a scrub. I'll start drinking the kool-aid though, sounds like a world class guy. That is something positive I have to be thankful for... we do have some classy guys in that locker room.
5 TCCLs for the Redskins Insider: 10K+ comment posts by midseason. Great job men and women of the blog.

howard, funny, very funny!

Two days later, Brunell mused on the identity of his football team, and while his answer was longer than that of Gibbs, it was no clearer.

from today's story.

jm, i'll email scott today.

jason, #5 agreed. but did you hear clinton say almost the exact same thing as archieletta about being a big name FA signee and the pressure it comes with? and how he was having fun in denver but here he's been under pressure. only danny to blame. IMNSHO.

peace out for the day!

I find it hard to believe that a) McNabb reads this blog, b) he would trash talk like that to fans, or c) if it's not McNabb, a Philly Phan is sober enough at 9AM to spell everything correctly.

Don't you have sorrows to drown or something?

James Thrash is great on special teams and is truly a stand up guy. Looks like he can make plays at WR as well. He is well loved by all.

What an amazing game. The highlights don't do the emotion justice. Its good to see a new king, if only for a week. Next up for the Knights and underrated Cincinatti.

5 TCCL - Steve Spurrier
For writing a book that would inevitably drive this blog past 10,000 posts. Thats probably your biggest accomplishment from your time in Washington (aside from your amazing post game chats with the meadia) glad it only cost Danny about 13 million.

1 TCCL - Chris Cooley Press Picture
I love this guy and hope he's a Redskins for life, but dag, have you all scene the press picture when TV News was giving out player of the game awards. Dude looks like a treasure troll or Jobu from Major League. Major dagger to the a true stud.

-1 TCCL - Donovan McNabb
I can't believe your bringing out your own "casual" clothing line through Reebok. That'll be a successful business venture. You are a true bingus. Though you'll look pretty sharp with Burgundy and Gold draped all over you!

Plus your fans are a bunch clowns

One day, this woman went to a bait shop to get her husband a fishing reel for his birthday. After selecting one, she inquired as to its cost.

The owner replied, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I'm blind and cannot see what reel you have. If you drop it on the floor, I'll recognize it and be of more help." So she did just that.

After hearing it hit the floor, the owner said, "That's the Johnson Model
9400. It'll be $40.00."

The woman decided to take it so she went to pick it up off the floor. Upon bending over, she let rip a stinky, sqeaky fart. The owner rang up the sale and said, "That'll be fifty dollars."

Fifty dollars?!?!" the woman exclaimed. "You just told me that is was forty dollars a moment ago!"

"Yes, I did", said the owner, "But that was for the reel. The duck call is another $7.50 and the stink bait is $2.50."

No - the game was too fast. Maybe being on my second bottle of wine could have ben a distraction - you think?

But watching the last second block on replay was awesome. At the game with it happenning at game speed you don't see much but damn, you hoot and holler and get mugged by the mob during our jubilation.

J-La,

Nice one on the Natrone Means Jersey. My family used to call me Natrone during his all too short run as bulldozer powerback in San Diego.

I need to get me one of them.

Posted by: bbpt89854726 | November 10, 2006 10:41 AM

Been out for a bit, had to tend to a family medical emergency and everything is fine now. But definitely realized I can't miss a week of this blog anymore -- it takes too much time to catch up.

Have a few thoughts:

1. Dallas sucks

2. jm220, I was watching Return Of The Jedi last night and even Lord Vader got a little human at the end. Maybe you are actually working for The Emporer?

3. Archubingus is horrible. What a liability on pass coverage.

4. I know it's been mentioned here already, but looking at the replay I can't figure out why the Reaper went right instead of left at the end after picking up the blocked kick. I know the theory was floated that he was trying to get better field position for Novak's kick but I don't think I buy that. He could have gone to the house going left.

5. Philly sucks. Worst city on the planet, worst fans in the world.

Missed you guys. Congrats on the 10K.

Oh, and Jason -- Reading better turn it around on Sunday v. Tottenham. They are sliding down the table fast. Good luck to the Royals.

Dorf, wasn't Thrash a fan fav back in his original stint as a Redskin? He's always been a good role player, special teamer, 3rd receiver. Not sure why we let him go in the first place. Of course, we seem to say that a lot during the Snyder era.

I'll start out sipping the Thrash flavored Kool-Aid for now. He is definately an interesting one... most players to leave the Skins never find their way back. Most enjoying joining another NFC east team to "get back" at the Skins for various reasons. James Thrash winded back in Washington so more power to him.

1 TCCL - My dream last night.

So I don't know that it was bad enough to call a nightmare, but it was definitely weird. In my dream I get on Redskins Insider, and HaikuMan has posted all of these limericks. I mean tons of them. But they're all in different languages, like Japanese, Italian, French, Spanish, Swahili, Greek, Russian, etc. Each of his posts has the limerick in the foreign language, but then also it's exact translation in English. And they all make sense and rhyme perfectly, in every language!

It didn't last long and I don't remember anything else, but it was very disturbing...

Posted by: MV Dame | November 10, 2006 11:05 AM

As for the OE800, do you recommend sippin' or poundin'?

Posted by: Dorf | November 10, 2006 11:06 AM

For some reason I drink them pretty fast, which is recommended so that they don't get too warm.

I put two down on Sunday during the Skins game, and after the win, I went out and got a third. I then passed out by 9:30PM.

True story: A couple years ago, I carved a hole large enough for a 40 in my "Hulk Hands," creating a Hulk Hand 40 Coosie.

Posted by: Bucktown Skins Fan | November 10, 2006 11:15 AM

BSF, that was nice stuff. JMan, got to get it to Grilliams for a locker room post.

J Thrash, knows where to be, and glue hands.

TV, knew you were a winner, and I hated you for how you dealt us a few blows in that Eagle uniform. Welcome to Washington, and really appreciate everything you put on the table for this hungry Redskins TEAM. Since Sunday, every word out of your mouth has shown you to be a class act and admirable human being. Teach the Beast; show him refinement for his UNBELIEVABLE skills. Working with R CClark was one thig but now he gets to learn from TV.

Adam, bet you wished you had a lasso when Dimwitten ran by you. That play pretty much epitomized your season thus far. Horrible.

Bring it Marcus. CB's-- INT, INT, INT.

Late.

Posted by: McNabb | November 10, 2006 11:54 AM

Are you kidding me?? Get rid of the Funky Bunch?? You can't be serious JLC! I sit in the second to last row in the upper deck and I love them. The best part of the whole thing however is after they dance to hear the announcer, in his weird Duff Man voice, say, "Now that was funkayy!" That is extremely high on the unintentional comedy scale. At least a 9 out of 10, I'm surprised you don't notice that JLC.

Posted by: BradyIn07 | November 10, 2006 11:54 AM

J-La-
Ditto on the funky four (not the funky bunch, as has been pointed out previously). I f-ing HATE them. The worst part of all is that there must be some deal w/ Fed Ex whereby the funky four has to come out at some specific point in the 3rd quarter. Because it is almost without fail that the other team has just scored a touchdown, or picked off a Brunell duck, or stuffed the Skins on 3rd and short. Then there is a tv timeout and all of the sudden, "Something's funky..." I swear to you, at least three times over the last two years, they have done their thing right after the other team has scored to take the lead. It is INFURIATING! They get NO TCCLs and Gibbs should bench their funky asses!

Posted by: BooferSux | November 10, 2006 11:57 AM

""4 TCCLs - Danny Smith.""

Actually, I think the punt/KO return teams have been great this year and Smith deserves his props. I don't blame him for the Skins getting people like Archuchoka and not haveing anything left for a decent punter or kicker.

Pretty lame if you ask me, especially when games are so close now days.

- Ray

Posted by: Ray | November 10, 2006 12:06 PM

Jason - dead on about the "funky bunch". I hated that the last few games the 'Skins defense has given up a score right before those guys come out. It's like we are celebrating the visitors touchdown. They have to go!!

Posted by: dph60 | November 10, 2006 12:17 PM

Personally, I'm giving 5 TCCLs to everyone who voted on Tuesday. The system works, thank goodness.

Oh, and I'm throwing a great "Write your own subpoena" party.

As for football, who will be the unlikely hero this week? My money is on the long, lost TJ Duckett. Sooner or later, he's going to get into a game and I will be right. Funny thing, though...if Ladell and TJ both leave in the offseason, the 'Skins will suddenly have a big depth issue at running back.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 10, 2006 12:27 PM

Oh, and as for Fed-Ex (nee K-Fed)...I am shocked. I really thought that was a celebrity couple that had staying power. And by "staying power", I mean at least 3 years.

Sadly, Britney has little rug rats now and while I love children, I only love them so long as they are nowhere within a 50 yard radius of me. I believe children are our future, and I believe we should teach them well and let them lead the way, but Hell will freeze over before I date a chick with kids. So, sorry Britney, you're on your own, babe.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 10, 2006 12:31 PM

I have a feeling Britney is going to be comeback player of the year in 2007. Mark my words, P Diddy, you're going to warm up to those kids.

"Did you know that Whitney Houston's debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it?

"It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album."

1) K-Fed could not be a bigger bama. Impossible. He deserves everything that happens to him and some stuff that won't but you wish it could.

2) 5 TCCL: Cindy, keeping up with the Blally (Blog tally)

3) 5 TCCL: MV Dame, right place, right time. A nod in your direction sir.

4) I can never forgive Thrash for going to the iggles. He can never really enter my pantheon for that reason. Go anywhere else (except the newer version of york and/or dallas) and we are cool. He came back to us and deserves props for goodness but he will never get up beyond an 8/10 in my book.

5) I don't actually have a book.

6) I saw Lindsay Czarniak again last night. Rumor has it that she wants to try stand up comedy. Please be aware that this woman is just flat out hot. Posted by: Joe in Raleigh | November 10, 2006 12:52 PM

"just dropped a "wiggity-wiggy whack" on his chat"

haha Joe, I also like how he dropped the hammer on somebody from his hometown... ouch.

Baltimore: Let's not make Ryan Clark out to be an All-Pro. Yes, the 'Skins missed the boat badly with Arch. But Clark had issues too. He was Arch's evil twin -- solid against the pass, terrible against the run. I still have visions of him bouncing off LT like a superball with arms. And sure, it looks like Taylor misses the calming force in the backfield. But sometimes the team needs its "superstars" to step up and be men. (No I would never EVER say that to Taylor's face.)

That said, Vincent looks like a heck of a pickup, so kudos to the front office for that one.

Jason La Canfora: Dude, I still have visions of Jospeh Addai running completely through Holdman and Taylor on the same play three weeks ago. That LT stuff is bogus. I know it was a big play but when someone in the fiedl for what 500-plus snaps in a season you can't dwell on one snapshop, even it was a stirring mental image.

You let a back like that get up a 30-yard head of steam with no lineman or LB getting in his way, and any safety is in big trouble.
Clark made a game winning INT vs. Philly. Clark played much bigger than his size. Clark was durable. Clark had good around the ball skills. Would he hold up for 3-4 more years playing that way as small as he is - probably not. So front load the deal and you can cut him in 3 years with a minimal cap hit.
Never said he was an ALL Pro, but at a certain point intangibles, locker room leadership and inter-player relationships need to matter. In the cases of Pierce, Clark and Smoot they discarded all of those factors, or under-valued them.

I agree Vincent makes a lot of sense. They also need to sign more players who come from winning pedigrees, I think, and save for Randle El and Fauria have not seemed to do a whole lot of that in recent years. Vincent is mega respected and certainyl fits that bill.

McNabb, your mom says your soup is ready. Go get it before it gets too cold.

"McNabb, your mom says your soup is ready. Go get it before it gets too cold."

And make sure it's something brothy. We wouldn't want you throwing up some of that Beefburger Stew or Clam Chowder on Sunday.

That would just be embarrassing.

5 tccls - grilliams for finally attacking the QB...funny how he has done that in 2 (jags and boys part 2) games and we won both games...get after 'em!

5 tccls - for the blog...you guys seriously post too much for me to keep up with and participate in...

1 tccls - for me for not being able to keep up daily...i think ive fallen off the blog preferred family memeber list...was a big poster at the beginning...

4 tccls - for the offense for throwing the ball down field for a change...a couple penalties and questionable calls kept if from being a bigger impact but just the fact that they tried made a big difference and was a welcomed change...

4 tccls - for being 3-5 and still only being a game out of the wild card!!!

5 tccls - for those that still believe in this year!!!

1 tccl - for whomever was calling the plays when we had 7 plays inside the 5 and couldnt punch it in forcing the run...the best of those plays was the pass play that drew the penalty that got us another set of downs...and we run the ball 4 times in a row when its obvious it wasnt working...anyone think we wouldnt have scored with 4 passing plays targeting the options of sellers, cooley and betts??? seriouisly though...one dimensional is bad regardles off pass or run...point being...mix it up a bit...keep em guessing and go to what has worked in the past...sellers and cooley didnt score those touchdowns last year running the ball...they caught them in the flat...

Can we please stop with the Trent and Big B talk? Let's see what Campbell can do and use that draft pick we have to give up to get either one of them for a d lineman.

Mcnabb,

I'll give you credit. After you choked in the super bowl It took alot of guts to come back and play.

Also, when your team wins a Super Bowl come back and talk to us.

Posted by: Da Truef | November 10, 2006 1:55 PM

jm, you know they're going to end up trading that pick for another running back. He'll likely be the "most researched running back in the history of the draft". And he'll likely sit on the bench behind 2-6 for 4 years.

must suck being fans of a team already out of it.you would LOVE to choke in a SB but your team is so bad you cant even get above 500.

McNabb,

The Chunky Sausage Gumbo is disgusting. I keep it around in the event that there is an epic disaster and I know FEMA won't be around for a month or so. Last resort kind of stuff, really.

There is some Chunky Southwestern Nacho something or other that I tried before I headed to Europe last week. Jury's still out on that one, but initial results were not so good.

All in all, most of your mom's soup is disgusting.

The Chunky Chicken Soup, however, is superb, actually. Quite impressive. I had a girlfriend in college who made me some homemade Chicken Soup when I had the flu. I haven't had the flu (or even gotten sick) in the 13 years since. I suspect the Chunky Chicken Soup is something just short of that awesome.

I'm just saying that with all the trouble your mom has making soup, maybe you ought to focus on her instead of football for a little while. You're a great QB and all, and I really do admire your skills, but your team and your city look and smell like a sewage treatment plant.

Sorry about the Funky name being wrong. I even wrote in the post that I wasn't sure of their official title.
Lindsay and Kelli and Rachel and good people, and I know them all fairly well. Lindsay is a Pollack like me, though (my mother's side is hardcore), so it's always good to comapre notes on piergois.

The Huey Lewis stuff in American Psycho is genius.

Nick The Kick. I love it.

and there's an unspoken 5 TCCLs every week to all the bloggy peeps out there. You know who you are.

Alright, I'm rushing home to play some manball in the park with Chloe, and kick it around a bit. Have a great weekend.
Cheers.

Mcnabb,

You have one more win that us so I wouldn't talk too much. By sunday we could have the same record. Get your boohoo box out. You'd better hope Andy doens't have a coronary before the game.

Are we just lusting after local female sports newscasters because on the national front got to go with Pam Oliver. Those are some kissable lips. I got a jones for Kelli bad
