Gloating And Celebration Thread
Hey there. Figured I would post this after a quick glance at the MMHB.
If you want to dissect the game, take a critical eye, etc.please swing by MMHB - my earlier post.
If you want to drop verbal bombs on BOOFER and all things Cowboy related, here's your place.
You can savor the moment here and drink it in, and, as some have said, if you want to wait until Tuesday to think about the big picture, we'll welcome you back then.
Okay, the floor is yours.

What a wonderful, beautiful, sunny day. My only complaint is:
Sean Taylor should've cut outside and ridden that convoy to touchdown heaven...
When my 17 mo. old wears his Portis jersey, the Skins are 3-2. I'll make it a required piece of his Sunday wardrobe from here on out.

greg garber can shove that article up his @$$.
watching 90,000 people starting to file out of the stands before Vandy got blocked, only to watch them rush back, tripping over each other to witness history in the making....WOW
this win wouldn't have been half as sweet without seeing the disgust in parcells' face, the ecstacy on the field for the skins.
indeed a once in a lifetime experience. and the fact that it's the cowboys?!?!?! BEST.RIVALRY.in.NFL
Greg Garber's obviously not a genius...he's missing the second 'g'!!!!

The win is a wonderful WONDERFUL win...however i am still VERY CONCERNED. One week we look like world beaters, another week we look like straight crap. Yea, everyone says style points don't matter...and a win is a win. I disagree however. How you win is almost as important as winning if they play inconsistent CONSISTENTLY. We still lost to the Titans. I am very sadden by the fact that our o-line cannot open a hole for portis. His biggest run was fake to a fullback and toss to portis to the outside where Lloyd made the critical block. I was also dishearen by the fact that Brunell almost threw 2-3 interceptions. He is in thereNOT TO THROW ints.
The silver lining is even though the defense looked A LOT better then it did before. Carlos Rogers and Shawn Springs makes a huge difference (dont forget people Dallas has a top 5 offense).
Another nice thing was the fact that we ran intermediate plays. Usually redskins run passes to the sideline or bombs. Yesterday they passed down the middle which was very nice to see.
I think, that there is a strugle for play calling between Saunders and Gibbs. I think Gibbs makes Saunders a lot more conservative. He reins in his full compliment of playcalling (my guess anyways).
Anyways thats some of my observations!

I agree with you on that one.But not real enough yesterday.
Posted by: jm220 | November 6, 2006 12:39 PM
All the Cowboys fans who are saying the officials gifted this win to the Redskins need to halt that nonsense. Those assertions are ridiculous if you actually watched the game. I don't normally get up in arms about officiating because they never really decide a game (and they didn't in yesterday's case, either). But if you had watched closely, you would've noticed that the officials missed three blatant holding penalties on the Cowboys, one of which Witten committed on the TD to Terry Glenn. And they botched the roughing the pass infraction. Taylor hit Romo in the thighs, not the knees, not below the knees. Overall, that roughing the passer rule is ridiculous. If they're going to coddle the QB so much, just make it 2-hand touch on him. Now, was the facemask excessive? Probably. But the officials made more calls (and missed others) that benefitted the Cowboys yesterday. They had 153 yards in penalties, but it should've been more.

Boofer,
Where's all the smack-talkin' about Roy Williams? How many times did he get burnt yesteraday? Or how about Terrence Newman trying to go for the pick instead of batting the ball away and Cooley makes the grab for the TD (the same Cooley who scored FOUR TOUCHDOWNS against y'all last year!). Or maybe you prefer TO dropping a pass while trying to think up some dumbass TD celebration? Hard to pick a favorite cowgirl screw up with so many to choose from.
Yes, the skins are pretty bad, but the cowgirls showed yesterday that they are even worse! Looks like another year that dallas doesn't make the playoffs. boo-hoo.
Thank you boofer and your cowgirls for being so incredibly bad that even the skins beat them. Yay cowgirls!!! I love you!!!

"Over the last 10 years:
Cowboys 68-84 (.447)
Team X 795-825 (.490)
Congratulations, Cowboys, you are officially worse than the Texas Rangers."
This one is pretty good too:
"bad teams lose games like these...it's really too bad because i for one thought beating a team like carolina could create a confidence level not seen here since bill's forst season...until the defense steps up and makes big plays, this team will continue to play games like this...roy's m issed piuck and henry not securing the one in the end zone are plays good teams make...now 1-3 in the division with still a trip to east rutherford- %$#@!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Lotta angst down in there in D. Gotta love it!!!!!!!!

Posted by: skins4ever | November 6, 2006 1:04 PM
Not sure if people said the Redskins deserved the win. I will contend, however, that despite the penalties, the Cowboys received more help from the refs than did the Redskins. It's also interesting to see Cowboys fans infest this board to call Skins fans "clowns" because they're excited about the win. Give me a break. The stench of hypocrisy is overwhelming. As if Boofer and the Redskins Suck person wouldn't be here doing the same thing had the Skins lost. It's ridiculous. Cowboys fans are mostly uncivilized in wins and losses.
Posted by: Colin | November 6, 2006 1:05 PM
Boohooofer--sour grapes. The refs? The same refs that let Romo throw past the line of scrimmage, or call a holding on Fauria, when Fauria just flat got run over, after Brunell hit BLoyd for 35? You got just as many gifts as the Skins. The main difference is Dallas misses the little things, like catching the ball or blocking on a GW field goal. Ultimately, this game, like last years win in Dallas will begin the end for your season......you dult. HEHEHEHE.
Posted by: Kevin K | November 6, 2006 1:05 PM
Is Shaun Taylor a playmaker or what?
The guy picks up the ball on the run in traffic, has the presence of mind to reverse field, gather himself, and advance the ball, and then, instead of angling for the sidelines, decides he's going to get one more hit in and runs straight at the Cowboy tackler.
Absolutely amazing. Just amazing. I was sick of all the talk of the "U", but I'm becoming a believer.

"F" the Ravens and their gay-ass purple uniforms with the stupid pigeon on the helmet AND their annoying fans who act like they've been in the league for more that two weeks and that there is some sort of tradition there. They were ALL Skin's fans two weeks ago. I wish they would pack up and sneak out of town in the middle of the night. Oh, that's already been done? Never mind.

wow, thought you were calling me out Greg. I go by Doof sometimes as well. But for today, you're right. BOOFER is is the Doof.
Wow, I actually thought he'd be gracious today. Humble perhaps. Nope, his team just blew a game against the worst team in the division and he still has the grapes (peas?) to "spin" it to be not so bad. Not so classy.
Posted by: Doof (Dorf) | November 6, 2006 1:15 PM
Although the Skins won't be going to the playoffs this year, at least the dismal cowgirls are non-playoff-bound as well. Let's see, so far this year they beat the Skins at home, and they beat Tennessee and Houston. The only decent game they've played was a win against the mediocre Panthers in Carolina. They have yet to play Indy and will most definitely lose again to both Philly and Giants.
Yes, folks, another loser year for the loser cowgirls..HEHEHEHE.

Posted by: jakeweed | November 6, 2006 1:15 PM
Here's another fun post from the cowgirls blog:
"Well I've read many of the comments above and all I seem to get out of them is your blaming the coach the owner the linebackers the kicker. There is a poison on the Cowboys and everyone knows who it is. Its clear that BP has given up as he did in NE when Kraft wanted Terry Glenn an d he wanted to pick defense. Jerry Jones wanted TO and Bill is going to prove Jerry wrong by letting TO undermine the whole team. Owens should have been benched for that stunt he pulled in the end zone, but Bill just gave him a token wrist slap and went on with the game.He was probably laughing when TO dropped the wide open TD pass. You people in Dallas are in total denial blaming Parcells the real culprit is sitting upstairs or on the sideline getting TV exposure(Jerry Jones). Parcells is ready to pull the same thing that he did in 96 with the Patriots while Jerry and TO ride off into the sunset blaming everyone else but themselves. "How about them TO's" sorry I mean Cowboys."
Gotta love it. Wherever Parcells goes, he leaves a wake of bitterness and in-fighting in his path. I LOVE YOU TUNA!
Posted by: jakeweed | November 6, 2006 1:20 PM
PS: an ex-girlfriend of mine was good friends with Parcell's daughter. And yes, as you might imagine, the 411 is that he is in fact a world-class jerk.

Boofer is so confused, depressed, and without focus that he has resorted to calling Gibbs and Redskins fans, "gay".
Boof, your team is a joke. For every insult you laid upon the Skins, your team left on Sunday with nothing but an "L". Your star player failed when it mattered, your coach made the worst call of the NFL season, your hired gun kicker added one more choke to his impressive resume, your owner is out of excuses about TO, your team might have the most internal fighting of any team outside the Raiders, and yet again with their season on the line Dallas walked away from a Skins-Cowboys game wondering what just happened?
Every time you come here with a nonsensical, and now homophobic post, you just make Cowboys fans look stupid.
Posted by: rain man | November 6, 2006 1:25 PM
hey rain man, try not to use such big words as nonsensical and homophobic, I don't think boofer's reading level is that high.

Classic.
Boofer.com, the refs were bad all day broseph. They didn't call an obvious hold on the TD pass to Glenn, they called a BS roughing the passer penalty to keep a scoring drive alive when Taylor hit R(H)omo waist high. Can't blame the refs for all the false starts on your terrible squad.
We never said we were good. But you said your boys were. So, you are wrong about this, as you are wrong to be a fan of the most dispacable organization in the history of sport.
Please note, everything I have said is accurate. To recap: We're bad, we said so, dallas.org sucks, you said they were good. When you respond, know that you appear foolish in the eyes of others and are belittled when you are not around.
Goodbye forever.

novak will come around...he's green on the season...
Posted by: deadskin | November 6, 2006 1:54 PM
Has anyone asked Coach Jow about the 3rd and 3 call right before Novak's first kick? It almost seem like they were willing to take their chances on a kicker that was signed midway through the season to make a 45+ yard kick. Isn't that asking for a bit much? Why not try and get a first down and get the ball closer? Sure, the game wouldn't have been as exciting, but it sure would have made it easier to get the win!
Posted by: dsmac | November 6, 2006 1:55 PM
Yup, we're crying. That was a half-hearted display of football. No execution, no discipline, bad coaching. But check this out from DallasCowboys.com about the rivalry...
Mike S, Kensington, Md.: Do Cowboy fans spend all week obsessing about the Redskins like Redskins fans do over Dallas? Before moving to the D.C. area I never felt like the week prior to playing Washington deserved extra parties, etc. Here this week, there are "Crush Dallas" parties and "Ms. Dallas" contests. I've always felt like this game was bigger for Washington fans than for Dallas fans. Am I off base on this one?
Mickey: You are right on. And I'm a firm believer it is the Washington fans responsible for keeping what was once a heated rivalry alive. While the Redskins players barely know the Cowboys or the rivalry, the Redskins fans still despise the Cowboys, almost as if Charlie Waters and Drew Pearson and Roger Staubach were still playing. No, Washington Week in Dallas is not even close to what Dallas Week is in the Washington D.C. area. Now I wouldn't say I know the bar scene out here anymore, but I do not detect any such promotions going on to attract special attention for this game this week.

Posted by: Michael Scott | November 6, 2006 2:02 PM
OK,OK
Let me start by saying, I own cats, love my pets, and wouldn't ever do anything to hurt them. With that said....
I was watching a friend's cat at his place while he was on vacation this weekend. Before he left, he warned that the cat was old (21 years old), and not doing so hot. He suspected that he was ready to die. Sure enough, the cat died on the last day of vacation. Now I ask you, my lovely Redskin Insider blog peeps, how should I tell him?
Here are some initial random thoughts. Can you add any?
1) "i've got good news and i've got bad news. bad news is, your cat's dead. the good news is that i saved a lot on my car insurance."
2) "hey, you're out of milk, the chips are stale, your cats dead, and the light bulb in the bathroom needs to be changed."
3) (when we walk into his apartment) *sniff* *sniff* "you smell dead cat??"
4) Leave a suicide note next to the cat with a finished bag of catnip mentioning how boring the sitter was.
5) "Are you still interested in those taxidermy classes?"
6) Get rid of the cat, draw a chalk out line, put up police tape all over the place, and act stupid.
7) "Will everyone with a live cat please step forward.....not so fast buddy."
8) "you have a couple messages: your mom called, she wants you to call her back; your landlord said the rent is late; your cat said 'bye'."
9) (when he picks him up from the airport)
sitter: Let's play a game....Dead or human?
owner: huh? ok.
sitter: you ?
owner: human
sitter: me ?
owner: human
sitter: your cat?
owner: huh ?!?!?
10) owner: thanks for watching the place. where are my keys ?
me: oh, they're under your dead cat.

OK,OK
Since someone brought up the subject of cats earlier, one of my cats is stalking me. Not in that "you're an amalgam of rodents and you must die" way. But in that "you're a giant furry and I must have you" way.
She follows me from room to room. (It's creepy, sometimes I think she's asleep and then when I walk out of the room, she's suddenly tailing me.) When I'm in bed, she finds ways to rub up against me under the guise of "just saying hi." When I'm in the shower, she makes excuses to come into the bathroom and stare.
She's a female feline Pepe Le Peu.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my cat. *As a friend.* But there are reasons I don't want to date her.
1. She's kinky. Who wants to french kiss someone who moans with pleasure while licking her own but? (Well, you might BOOFER. Me, not so much.) And that spaced-out kneading the blankets while drooling thing--what's that about?
2. She's lazy. Sure, she'll bring home an occasional half-dead meal now and then. Nothing expensive. Usually the portions are small and unappetizing, and that's the extent of her contribution to the household.
3. She's messy. Her personal hygiene is beyond reproach (can you say "vain"?) but she's been known to pee on the living room floor. That's not what I look for in a partner.
4. She neglects her health. No matter how sick she is, in order to get her to go to the doctor I have to practically stuff her into a cardboard box and drive her myself.
5. She has poor communication skills. I'm constantly having to guess what she wants.
6. She's a party animal. Out half the night, returning at 5 a.m., whining at me to have breakfast with her. Then she sleeps all day while I'm at work.
As a roommate, she's great. We like the same T.V. shows, she's affectionate, she's fun, she's always there for me. She never eats my food. But as a romantic partner, she'd be a disaster. How do I tell her without hurting her feelings?

hey boofer,
you have some nerve talking about officiating. how many times have you guys had the majority of the calls be realisitic sometimes you get them sometimes you dont. look boofer you can put a dallas twist on it if you want and ever since we had the redskins fans are too loud and busch league article from the post alot of us stopped caring what they said anyway arent fans supposed to give the home team an advantage. I think we are still far from a playoff team and would have to improve dramatically. BOTTOM LINE is you got beat nothing else matters but the final score and who knows hopefully you guys miss the playoffs by one game and look back at this one like you did at the monday night match up last year anyway you slice and thats for the washingtonpost writers also the redskins won ugly but won

Boofie - when we lost at dallas earlier in the year, did you see any one here playing the "if" and "but" game? Did anyone say, "if we had CP" or "if we had Springs" the outcome would have been different? The answer is NO. We took the loss like men (and women - Lisa and Meg).
So, I advise you to do the same. I know you're angry. I would be too if my team sh$t the bed, had bad uniforms and had a stadium with mismatched aluminum siding, but enough is enough. The refs did not hand us the game. To brighten your day a bit more - Your team will likely finish 9-7, Parcells will quit like the beeatch he is, Jerry will have more surgery, you'll get a crappy draft pick position and then you'll do it all again next year with over inflated egos, a suicidal receiver who can't catch and a fairweather fan base.

That's one heck of a weekend you had there SallieMae... having to go to work; having your bf leave the window for your cat to jump out and then chasing it into a BK and scooping it out from under a dirty soda machine; being crushed in the celebration in Section 101 while wearing your 'Skins jersey; and then having your friend's cat die on you.
Your life sucks. Maybe not as bad as BOOFER's, but pretty bad.

So, since 2005 Skins are 3-1 against Dallas. If we could just play the 'girls every game we would be line dancing our way towards the playoffs right now.
Posted by: Nickels | November 6, 2006 2:42 PM
I'm glad the 'Skins won, but they got really lucky. 99% of the time Vanderjagt makes that kick and the game is over.
The referee-ing was bad once again:
1. Sean Taylor Hitting the qb at the waist negates an intentional grounding penalty. Cowboys drive continues.
2. Brandon Lloyd gets tangled up w/ Williams in a somewhat questionable pass interference call, on a prayer bomb on a gagdet play. Huge swing of momentum given to the 'Skins.
3. Witten gets away with a reall bad hold on Daniels, Dallas socres a TD on the play.
4. Griffen is held so poorly that he's able to raise his hand in the air as his lower body is still moving forward. No holding call. Cowboys drive continues.
5. Fauria is bowled over by Demarcus Ware, is tossed to the ground and Ware hits Brunell low. Somehow the completion on the play was negated becuase Fauria was called for holding and Ware wasn't flagged for the same thing Taylor was flagged for against Romo.
6. Portis is blatantly held on a screen pass that is thrown his way, his jersee is stretched pretty far and he was clearly unable to catch the ball because of it.
7. Taylors face mask on the blocked kick return should have been a 5 yarder not a 15 yarder.
All in all I think the refs had a significant impact on the game, given the evidence. The results of all those calls may have changed the course of the game drastically just the way T.O's droped touchdown could have.
But they gave an advantage to the Cowboys on their first TD as Romo had time to pass to Glenn, and provided the 'Skins with 10 more yards on the final play of the game. You can't say they didn't have an effect on the game. Even with instant replay refs have significant power to affect the outcome of games and often do. Its too cliche to say "we had 100 other plays that could have won the game." Coaches only say that to basically hide their frustration, they know the refs botched enough calls to have a hand in the outcome.
A win maybe a win, but 'Skins fans can't feel good about revolving their offense around heaving it up to WRs and praying for pass interference calls.
Crazy game to watch, but there should be zero trash talking from 'Skins fans right now. I'm keeping my mouth shut becuase I know the 'Skins got away with one yesterday.

Dear Bill Parcells, T.O., and Roy Williams:
Thank you for your egotistical, sleepy, self gratifying, and typical 'glamour-boys' style of play yesterday.
Coach Parcells, thanks for going for 2 like an idiot so early in the game.
T.O., thanks for thinking about how you will celebrate instead of how you will catch the ball.
Roy, thanks for always playing out of position going for the 'jacked up' hit which lead to Portis burning you for a TD and later Lloyd burning you for a pass interference. Oh, and thanks for letting that Brunell pass bounce off your face late in the game. Once again you nearly single handedly caused your team to lose.
Again, thanks to all of you.
Until next year,
The Redskins

Everytime I think I am going to get a break, he keeps grabbing for me, pulling tissues out of me...oh and that loud whining and crying! Let's just say the guy cries in all caps the same way he types in all caps. It is loud and annoying! Sure, he's putting on a brave face for the blog w/ his comments about the refs and his "hehehehe" at the end of each post. But rest assured that in between his posts he is making good use of me for all of his crying. He is a sad, sad clown indeed...Boofer, ouch, be gentle...can't you just give me a few minutes of peace and quiet???

We often think that the heart and the mind are on separate paths. But there's at least one issue on which they are united--the value of omega-3 fatty acids.
There is a growing group of scientists who believe that depression and heart disease could have a common cause--a diet that lacks omega-3 fatty acids. So far, the evidence is fairly circumstantial. For one thing, the twentieth century saw a parallel rise in both heart disease and depression.

You, a Cowboys fan, are hanging out at a Redskins blog. I have never hung out at a Cowboys blog. No one from any other team hangs out here with even 1% of the fervor that Cowboys fans do.
This game was huge for you, it always is, and trying to act like it isn't after the fact is just a protective emotional measure.

Yet each and every year during the playoffs he shows how little of a man he is. He doesn't take any blame. It's always somone else. Just like you. When your team was winning nothing but smack. Now your team lost it was the refs, it was we game it to you, it's everything accept standing up and being a man and just take the lost.

Apologies for killing the energy, but I'm just being realistic. I'm stoked to have the 'Skins beat the Cowboys, in whatever fashion possible. Last year after the first game the 'Skins beat the Cowboys outright with two long bomb TDs. Thats reason to talk a little smack about the Dallas secondary.
However I think any trash talking about yesterdays game should be tempered with a measure of analysis. If the 'Skins had actually played really well then maybe there's some ammo for trash talking, but I can't simply talk trash just for the sake of it. I'd rather keep my mouth (fingers typing) shut and acknowledge the higher power at work at FedEx yesterday.
Let the Cowboy fans talk trash, it makes them feel better about themselves and wastes energy. Skins fans should just sit back and watch the ranting and raving with their arms folded and a smirk on their face. That is all that is needed in my opinion.

higher power at work at FedEx
Wow, Aaron. Are you gloating by saying even God (or whatever your higher being or beings of choice is) is a 'Skins fan too?!!?
That's trash talk if I've ever heard it. ;-)
Posted by: QFB | November 6, 2006 3:23 PM
Oh, BOOFER, please don't blame the refs for the 'Skins win yesterday. The real blame belongs to me. If I weren't so excited to actually be thrown the ball, I would have looked up the field to see the 30 yards of green in front of me. Instead I was just so happy to get the ball and have the play go in the books I decided to step out of bounds all by myself. Then I was so happy that Witten caught that pass that I told him to keep trash talking about it and not worry about blocking on special teams. We had the game won! It really is all my fault. I'm sorry I let you down, Boofer. Will you ever be able to forgive me?
Posted by: Anthony Fasano | November 6, 2006 3:29 PM
The only higher power that hangs over Fed Ex Field is the cloud formed from "gaseous emissions" during the game. Boy what a stink, literally.
Posted by: Chief Clancy Wiggum | November 6, 2006 3:33 PM
Don't mistake my belief that the 'Skins were rescued from above, with trash talking. It is simply a statement of my opinion.
It must also be noted that I feel that the Skins have also been delivered to failure and loss by that same power. Their growth and evolution into a good team (or into a bad team) will be bourn of those experiences.
I also think that trash talking just isn't my thing when it's not warranted. Even if it is Dallas week. This has been such a lopsided rivalry it seems petty to say "Well, lets talk trash while we can even though we don't have much to back it up."
Hey, I'm stoked that Dallas was sent home the way they were, don't get me wrong. But I'm not about to talk trash about and glorify an otherwise crappy game.
Posted by: Aaron | November 6, 2006 3:35 PM
I find it offensive that a Cowboys fan would use the term "gay" as a derogitory homosexual comment towards the Redskins fans, players, and coaches. I find this especially confusing since the Cowboys have 2 of the highest profile homosexuals in the NFL, Terry Glenn and T.O. Don't forget Parcells outed Glenn in New England, and T.O. fits almost every stereotype out there.

Posted by: BOOFER | November 6, 2006 3:37 PM
honestly, i think i'm probly the biggest critic of my skins because i love this team so much.
yes, we have no qb. our coach makes marty's vanilla offense look like "cheesecake fantasy" from coldstone. and way way way too conservative. our d line's actually gotten worse with the addition of carter and our secondry worse with the addition of archie.
BUT
i didn't think the cowboys gave the game to the skins. i thought they played much better than the cowboys and the only reason they didn't blow them away was because of gibbs stupid play calling. (and of course our qb play).
yes, the third quarter was bad and greg williams needs to make better adjustments after the half and not give up a td after every half.
i liked the pound it in the middle. but i thought it was a game too late. since the cowboys have a better run D.
and yes, give the ball to sellers. i don't understand why people keep calling for TJ when we have sellers? we don't need TJ. we got sellers.
but going for it on the 4th down made me realize that this coach as stubbornly loyal he is to #8 can and will bench #8 if he thinks someone else can do a better job. and i thought that going for it on the 4th down was brilliant. if you just settle for a field goal. you lose momentum. but when you give the ball back at the 1 yard line. your D's all psyched up. as it was.
it was a good win. win they deserved. and no help from the refs (holding call on griff, bad call on taylor, missed holding call on dallas D, and they played without Moss).
so buck up! all we need is a QB. and i'm hoping that #8 can play a bit better. but i doubt it. so maybe they can put someone else in without having to lose another game. because this D is coming around. Griff looked as his old self, springs looked good. taylor looked like he can finally do things now that archie's gone.

I know the question has been asked, but I really wonder whether this game will be the abberation in a series of unfortunate events this season or whether it will be the one that turned it all around. I am very cynical at this point.
Here's the problem: next week's game.
If the Skins had more of a cupcake next week, then maybe they do get on track and make a run in December, but unfortunately it the schedule makers didn't make it that way.
Sunday's game with the Eagles is eerily congruent to the Giants game last month at the Meadowlands. The Eagles are reeling and are coming off a bye week to get their acts together, and the Skins are coming off another emotional, last-play victory - an identical state of euphoria to the Jacksonville game that led to the Giant meltdown a week later.
Going on the road in the NFL is hard enough as it is, but this is got to be one of the toughest spots an NFL team can be in. The Eagles are hungry and they're desperate - a loss could be their season's backbreaker as well.
The only good news for the Skins is that if they can somehow pull one out at the link then there's no reason not to believe they can't win every game on their schedule after.
That's a lot of hope - but heck, that's all we got.

This is not the time to be a stinker and rain on peoples parade. There is always time for that later. We beat Dallas; if you have to question why this is a good thing or that you should be happy, you apparently did not grow up in this town and I truly feel sorry for you.

Boofer,
I'm so happy you showed up today. When does your banishment start? Even better, who are you going to lose to next week? And don't whine about the ref's. If TO wasn't so busy watching himself on the big screen, he would have caught it.
AMTTS,
Saw your comment earlier about that Taylor hit on Ro-ro-romoboat, gently to a loss, and if they call that, don't they have to call the SAME EXACT hit on Brunell in 4Q? Putting Novac to a 34 yarder btw, and sealing the gizamme w/ a FG. I think it's more unfair officiating aimed at Taylor thanks to the spitting contest he prematurely engaged in last year.
The Girls definitely gave that to us tho, calling the offtackle in the endzone for a safety, dropping balls, falling down in the open field...they might, just might, be worse than us.
But seriously, Brunell's pass over the middle to Thrash in the 4th, definitely shows he's got some zip on the ball still. But those lobs...the one to Cooley, and another pump and go that should have been a bullet but was almost a lob-pick...he tries to finesse too many passes. Looked good tho. B Lloyd looked AWESOME off the line, making the Girls CB's look like Hellen Keller and Stevie Wonder. Couldn't read all the posts, but I hope someone RIPPED and hugged Kenny Wright. Ripping him for blowing his inside route coverage that let TO catch a TD, hugging for a couple batted passes including a 2-pt stop.
Anyway, ran around screaming for 20 minutes yesterday thanks to Nick Novak. Brunell and Lloyd looked VERY in-sync after bye, hope a healthy Moss only amplifies that...and...of course..."ATTACK YOU IDIOT" finally listened with a healthy D. Need more pressure though, and Sean needs to improve coverage, ala Terry Glenn TD. Big win, we suck, but they suck worse.
Happy Monday!

PS
Ricky Bobby, I'll be looking forward to your post explaining "How to blow a Best Man speech in Chicago". Point 1 - Open with a Steve Bartman joke.
Nice work.

the troy vincent signing should be a big heads-up to gibbs et. al. about future FA's. Try to pick players with a pedigree of winning: simply contrast his positive outlook with what must surely be the outlook of a player coming off a four win team. four win team players have literally come to live with/ accept losing, they have to in order to survive. i'll stay with keeping things light and just celebrate that we signed a winning player and hope for more.

Hey, we haven't talked about this either: Carter staying home on that reverse and catching Glenn in the backfield! Come on, dealer, give the man his due. I know you did a double-take when you saw #99 making that play. Good play, Carter. Attack you idiot!

We beat Dallas; if you have to question why this is a good thing or that you should be happy, you apparently did not grow up in this town and I truly feel sorry for you.
You tell 'em Meg.
If you have to question why this a good thing, you also apparently do not remember the name "Clint Longley".

Boofer you didn't get any respect from me before. Then when you showed up yesterday you gain a little. Now you have lost that little respect. To come and b**** and cry like you have all day. After always saying that what the skins fans do. Go put on a pink thong and get the hell out of here you little girl. Should have known you wouldn't man up and take the lost.

Great call on that Carter play. Can you name 3 others this season though?
Posted by: Pub Golf | November 6, 2006 4:37 PM
joe, i saw that but then i saw him give up a big run to his side while he was inches away from the sidelines, trying to get to the qb in the middle of the field. but i sure as heck didn't see too much of that. probly cuz he wasn't in too much right? thank god. BUT i'll admit that he has more upside than archie. as they say at the combine. "you can't coach size".

Who saw the Gears of War commercial this weekend for the XBOX 360? I don't know why, but that commercial makes me want to cry and save Planet Earth at the same time. ArtMonktotheSticks and I are on a mission to get the woman to buy me XBOX 360 so I can accept the mission of saving Earth.
"Mad World" by Tears for Fears is one of the 32 tightest songs ever.
I would like to thank Rudolph, Blixen, Dancer and Santa Claus for DELIVERING THE PRESENTS on Sunday.
Before the first Novak kick, AMTTS goes: "No chance this goes in." Fast forward to the second kick, after the BEAST TAYLOR runs it back. Novak gets lined up. He hits it. AMTTS goes "The SOB sliced it". We looked at eachother. And we ran through Glover Park shouting at the top of our lungs...undecipherable screams of joy. We had like 20 dudes at the game repping it to the death while we simultaneously repped it to the death in Glover Park. They called us, we called them...it was like finding out your grandfather doesn't have cancer.
BOOYAKASHOT.
I have decided what Joe Gibbs' legacy will be if he accomplishes nothing else. He proved to us and the franchise we could beat Dallas. He proved it.
I think we all know Archuletta was a terrible signing, but we now need to get off his case after the Skins did what they did and benched him. I accept their apology. Now let's start the healing process. Let's see how he CAN contribute to our squad. Let's see him get some sacks. Let's see packages. In the end, he is a Redskin, and I love my Redskins.
By the way, could people, you too Jason, stop trotting out that stupid Joe Gibbs is 19-21 in his second term stat. That is the most meaningless stat. They went 6-10 in Year 1 (and were in every game). Then they went 10-6 and won a playoff game on the road and were a few plays away from going to the NFC Championship. Now, in Year 3, things have been disappointing no doubt, but we are 3-1 against Dallas the last two years after going like 1-38 over the last 4. To say he is 19-21 since he came back cheapens what he has actually been able to accomplish, which was for us to finally look the Cowboys in the eye, and say "Parking Lot. 5 minutes." after so many years of staring at the floor when challenged.
The thought of Parcells on the plane with Owens for that trip back to Dallas made me think of my childhood.
To my brothers and sisters out there, don't start overanalyzing and expect a miracle next week. Philly is much better than us and we will be on the road. 90% chance we lose. BUT, BUT...enjoy the L we hung around Parcells' neck. Know that he will always have it. Forever. Etched in his memory. Etched in history. The Fat Mercenary will never forget the time Troy Vincent blocked his idiot kicker's gimme and Sean Taylor ran it back as Roy Williams was on the sideline terrified that his mortal enemy was taking it to the residence. As Jason Witten was more concerned with a postgame ballcuzzi than blocking his man.
BOOYAKASHOT SON!!! BOOYAKASHOT!

PG, well, he has 2 sacks so those each count. I have to find one more? Hmmm. He didn't have any penalties against him. Does that count as a play? I'll say it does and continue my celebration.

No matter how the Parcells-friendly media trys to spin it, or how the cry baby Cowboys fans try to say we got lucky, anyone who knows anything about football (i.e. NONcowboys fans) can see that the
REDSKINS OUTPLAYED DALLAS!!
We had more rushing yards, more sacks, more QB pressures, far superior special teams play, fewer penalties, and we would have more passing yards except we got those on nearly 80 yards of interference penalties against Roy Williams and pals.
Dallas got away with murder on those no-call holds and they got a lucky bounce when Brunell missed a snap while we were driving down their throats. Yes, TO dropped a ball, but how is that luck for the Redskins? It's not like TO never drops a ball! The fact is, it never should have come down to those field goals at the end. We deserved to win and it was so. All is right with the world, for today.

Very appropriate post here on the Gloating and Celebration Thread...Another in the series of Barno-re-posts:
Posted by: Barno | October 10, 2006 04:13 PM
Let me be the first one to say it:
Nick Novak will go to many, many pro bowls as the kicker of the Washington Redskins and, eventually, will go to the Hall of Fame as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history.
You heard it here first.
And no, I'm not joking. For those unfamiliar with Novak, the guy is literally the most clutch kicker in college football history. I can't count how many times I watched the guy hit the clutch kick to win the game (I can think of 3 vs NC State alone). The Redskins need to give him a real shot, not just a couple games til Hall gets back.
We just signed the real deal ladies and gentlemen.
Posted by: Barno | October 10, 2006 04:13 PM
barno, OMG!!! what u smokin boy? he's okay. he's clutch but he can't kickoff. only to 10 (consistently) (from what i rember last year). but i'll take inside 10 and clutch fg kicker ne time. as long as the offense knows that they have to get to 25 to give him a good chance to make it.
and beyond 25(greater than 42 yarder) is just gravy.
what's interesting is that patsies were able to replace A. VinnyTerri? in a heartbeat. how???????? did they find a kicker that good so fast? ohh, this just in they have a good front office. :( and we have mr. bugeyed! aka mr. espn, mr. vinny!
Posted by: dealer | October 10, 2006 04:28 PM
If Barno is too be believed, Novak will make his first full step into kicking lore this weekend. One day we'll all be singing folk songs about Nick the Kick, dining at Novak's Bar & Grill, telling our grandkids where we were when our kicker/mascot took the field against the mighty Titans.
Posted by: Joe in Raleigh | October 13, 2006 10:17 AM
Barno, thanks for the optimism. THIS POSTER recognizes that you have been about 90% accurate when you say "you heard it here first." Didn't see any posts from you yesterday. The Cliff Notes version is alot of doom and gloom, plus a new poster who is out-dissing even Boofer. He just faked a P Diddy post.
Posted by: dcsween | October 17, 2006 09:29 AM
I will say this in Nick Novak's defense: He missed an easy kick and a tough kick, but I really, really, hope he gets another chance with this team. Me thinks they'll bring in some kickers to tryout over the bye week, but hopefully we won't do anything stupid like let this future hall of famer go for a 2nd time...
Barno out.
Posted by: Barno | October 23, 2006 07:10 PM
Just settling in and reviewing the commentary this morning (after watching triple T keep office order again) and I made note of this comment by our good friend Barno:
"But I will say this in Nick Novak's defense: He missed an easy kick and a tough kick, but I really, really, hope he gets another chance with this team. Me thinks they'll bring in some kickers to tryout over the bye week, but hopefully we won't do anything stupid like let this future hall of famer go for a 2nd time..."
Future Hall of Famer? Novashank? What?

Posted by: Ali Haji Shank | October 24, 2006 09:57 AM
Barno, you are hilarious in your defense of Novashank. I dig that about you. I felt bad for you when he missed those kicks.
Ultimately, I'm sure it will just be a funny story that they tell at his induction ceremony.
Posted by: Joe in Raleigh | October 24, 2006 10:09 AM

Skinz, great work. Unfortunately for Barno, it's like a "who's who" of Big Media. Too bad for Novashank.
Posted by: Ali Haji Shank | October 24, 2006 11:01 AM
Here is why I think Novak will be a great NFL kicker:
most of his long field goals in college sailed thru the uprights with 10-15 yards to spare. You may have noticed that 48 yarder he missed against Indy hit the upright about 2/3 of the way up, meaning it would've gone 60plus yards easily. His accuracy was unprecedented in college, at one point he hit something like 50 out of 55 field goals. His clutchness (is that a word?) was the best i'd ever seen from a kicker, winning several games with last second kicks from long range.
Give him another chance, Coach, and I promise you won't regret it.
Barno out.
Posted by: Barno | October 24, 2006 11:20 AM
Barno,
Your koo-aid drinks kool-aid.
Posted by: Skinz | October 24, 2006 11:26 AM
Barno,
Tough call on Novak. On sunday in the dome pre game he had the ball with kick assist set up on the 30-31 yd line (~40 yd'r). Granted, he was getting warmed up, but he was prob avg'n .650 from there. I was a bit distracted because Rick Bob kept trying to get a hug from Ms. Portis. Regardless, I think you want a kicker nailing them in warm ups less than 50 yds, right?
Anyway, blaming this season on the kicking game is like blaming Jack-o and Presley Jr's failed marriage on the paparazzi...a distraction, yes...the cause...nope.
PG
Posted by: Pub Golf | October 24, 2006 11:43 AM
Barno, just send the rationale you have to the HOF list of voters above that Skinz provided and make sure they have it ready to use when they vote for Novashank in about five years after he gets cut this week. I'm positive that will be all that the Wilbon's and McDonough's of the world need to make sure Nicky boy makes it through.
Or is it six years? I forget.

Boofer,
I've determined that you are simply CRAZY! To keep blogging about your team after a loss is simply pathethic. And despite what people think about Snyder, at least he does not take EVERY opportunity possible to get on TV unlike Jerry Jones. Jones is always on the field getting interviewed about TO. I thought it laughable yesterday when he made the comment that "TO does not put anything unhealthy in his body" (this was in response to the Fox guy asking him why they did not give TO coffee to keep him awake) - how about supplements and an overdose of pain medication - how healthy is that mixture?????

so i was listening to el presidente show on triple X espn. and here's how it went:
riggo: coach what was up with those play calls on the goal line?
el presidente: that was al [saunders]. he called all those plays. i made the decision to go for it on the 4th.
riggo: it seemed like you changed personell on 4th and goal with betts running the ball instead of portis. were you trying to fool the defense by puting betts in thinking that defense might think it's a pass play?
el presidente: no, actually clinton got his bell rung on the play before. so he came out off the field.
riggo/a fan calling in: coach, did you think about putting TJ in to ram it in?
el presidente: i want portis in all and every situation. but after that series i told portis that we might put in TJ if we ever get the ball close to the goal line again. and he was fine with it.
riggo: coach, what was that play on the last series.
el presidente: that is our go to play. our base play. but the defense blitz with their safety. he's a good player.

RS,
I think one of the reason you saw a lot of the penalties is cause you bamafied country folk couldn't gaurd us of the line. In my opinion, you were just out coached. Roy Williams might be one of the most overrated players of our generation if he continues to get used in the rivalry. It is also in my humble opinion, that trying to tackle Sean Taylor by his face mask should cause you to lose, and your lucky he didn't take it to the house just to spite you.

Wow!!! That was Amazing!! Although I'm sure that it was nothing like actually being at the game, I was running around, screaming, jumping up and down and hugging strangers at a bar in Amsterdam!
I need a favor from the blog community so I can watch again next week. Luckily, I've been able to watch most of the games, although only a couple games are broadcast each week. This week Sky Sports is letting the viewers decide which games are broadcast. Please go to http://www.nfluk.com/vote-skysports.php
and vote for the Redskins. It shouldn't take long and will make my week if I can see my skins again! With help from all the blog regulars, I'm sure that the Redskins game will win the contest. While I like living in the Netherlands, I miss the Redskins and want to be able to see them next week.
Thanks for your help!!!
