Redskins Insider, by Jason La Canfora Redskins Insider

Inactives - No Surpises

INACTIVES

The rumors were untrue. Jason Campbell is still QB No. 3. Same as it ever was.
Moss and Patten also inactive. With Shawn Springs back, the Mike Rumph era seems to have come to its inglorious conclusion (barring further injuries, of course). Skins only have three WRs active today, so that means a lot of work for all of them. Thrash might have to cut back on special teams duty, cause he figures to be on the field quite a bit.

Reed Doughty, Anthony Montgomery, Taylor Whitley, Ryan Boschetti also inactive. Everyone's favorite fourth-string RB, T.J. Duckett is active. Last time he carried was against Dallas in Week 2. Maybe he will strike again.

The Cowboys have all their usual suspects playing. Glenn is in.

I realize that the Skins have been stopped five times inside the 3, but I think you have to go for it there! Of course, I'm no coach ...

boof, we're one post below aptly named "game day blog"

Posted by: dealer | November 5, 2006 3:04 PM

Multiple holding calls against Dallas ignored. I think the Cowboys are going with the old NY Nicks defensive strategy of Pat Riley, if you foul on every play they can't call everything. Seriously, I saw seven or eight calls that could have been called that were not, especially Dallas o-line holding. And the Sean Taylor tackle call on Romo= awful. Fauria gets run over and holding is called...I mean what is going on with the FIXED NFL.

Posted by: SickofTheRefs | November 5, 2006 3:16 PM

Now we see Tagliabue sitting in the box with Snyder. Something is goin on. Sellars running into Cartwright on the kick return after TO demonstrates after the touchdown? He knows that is a penalty. This has become the WWF Wrassling league. Sellars running into Lloyd and falling down when only on DB was covering both. Does anyone else see the PLAY ACTING???? This is scripted!!!

don't even bring that ref BS Boofer -- 15 or 5 -- especially when the Boys consistently were not called for holding.

As an added bonus, yer boy Roy screwed the pooch with the long penalty AND TO dropped a long TD!

We would greatly appreciate it. HAIL!!

What an entertaining game AND Arch-ibungus sucks big Richard.

You gotta wonder now that the game is over ... was the Moss-injury the catalyst Brunnel needed to go through his checks and find the other receivers? (versus looking at only Moss then go to the dump-off 3rd or 4th option)?

Posted by: X.Hog | November 5, 2006 5:30 PM

X.Hog

Have nothing change for me. This just prove to me even more that Brunell needs to go to the bench. At what this offense can with a QB that can throw and look for all his WR.

Now, if we can get back to reality.....as great as it is to win a game like this, it still doesn't hide the fact that this team has many problem areas. Yes it's great to win, especially against the 'boys, but are we really gonna think that all of a sudden everything is OK??? Let's not make our playoff reservations just yet....

Posted by: Notorious B.O.B. | November 5, 2006 5:55 PM

what happened? who won? btw, nick novack should be cut! mygod! look at dallas now they have an NFL kicker! why didn't the skins go after vanderjagt in the offseason. goshdarn!!!!!!1

Wow.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 5, 2006 10:50 PM

Yaaaay, we won. Our third win, yipee. Can we recycle Archuletta? Somebody give Grilliams the address on where to drop him off and let's get some money back. Were all set with Troy Vincent until next season's Fa class or draft. I can't believe they put him on Witten in such a crucial 4th quarter situation-sure enough he gave up the play. Maybe we can get double credit for trading in Fauria at the same time. That dude was just plain man handled out there.

PS, even though we won, since Duckett was dressed out and all, how about giving him one of the six carries down on the one yard line instead of old Porty and Betts. We know he can at least do goal line plunges from his days as a dirty bird in Hotlanta.

Posted by: Next | November 5, 2006 11:03 PM

Yes, the refs do cheat as they let Witten get away with SEVERAL holds...and made a few other bogus calls against the Skins as well.

Posted by: Lisa | November 6, 2006 7:24 AM

OH COWBOYS, WHY DO YOU BREAK BOOFER'S HEART?!?!?

Posted by: QFB | November 6, 2006 7:31 AM

Wish I had a football to rest my head on, nice job TO... at least you'll be on Sportcenter, PTI, BDSSE... monday mornings suck. But how sweet are bragging rights. This'll shut up that annoying guy downstairs that always mentions Romo is a scratch golfer too... like that somehow validates him as a QB. Romo was good, but welcome to the loss column.

Posted by: Dorf | November 6, 2006 9:07 AM

BOOF, how can you keep up this charade? The facemask was a legitimate 15-yarder. The reason Taylor was able to shake loose is because the grip wasn't good enough. But he was GRASPING for the facemask in the first place.

But, why NO ROLLOUT (maybe one?) in 7 shots inside the four? Or go obvious and try DUCKETT

I'm taping the Replay broadcast. Is it Tues or Wed?

Posted by: RMilot | November 6, 2006 9:27 AM

Clearly, today the ugly finger of blame will land on the chest of Witten, who must still be wondering how he went from making the catch that all but sealed victory to the fool of the season.

Witten reminds me of you Boofer. Talk smack then end up being the one that is the laughing stock. LMAO. Oh come on man a win is a win. Don't cry about the refs and don't cry about winning everything except the score. NEWS FLASH. The score is the only thing that really counts.

Posted by: jm220 | November 6, 2006 9:31 AM

How sweet it is!! I give props to the fans who showed up in large numbers and totally supported Brunell, even though 3/4 of us don't think he should be the QB. We have some very classy fans, and it was great to see the electricity in the stadium all game. Excellent win. In the last two seasons the Cowboys vs. Redskins record stands at. :

Redskins = 3 wins
Dallas = 1 win

That's good enough for me to say the last two season have been a success!! This is the next best thing to winning the superbowl!!

Posted by: Max | November 6, 2006 9:38 AM

I read this morning how Witten was talking smack as they were lining up for Vanderjerk's field goal, then let Vincent sneak by untouched! I hope TO is enjoying his monday morning, what a punk. I bet him and the Tuna spiral out of control for the rest of the season. Whatever happens the rest of the year, this will be one to savor!

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | November 6, 2006 9:39 AM

Boofer, you are a fool. The Cowboys got every call, every non-call, and every spot to go their way for the entire game. But all your great draft picks couldn't put it together in crunch time and so you got smacked in the pie-hole.

The Skins may have inferior talent, but put very simply, the Cowboys got out-played and out-coached by a better TEAM and, quite frankly, a classier organization.

Posted by: Joe in Raleigh | November 6, 2006 9:44 AM

Boofer oh Boofer. Oh I forgot you still crying over The Lost. You fool lmao

Joe in Raleigh

That was funny.

Posted by: jm220 | November 6, 2006 10:31 AM

Boofer's wrong. The officials screwed the Skins at least four times yesterday. They missed three key holding calls, including one on Jason Whitten when Romo threw that TD. And that roughing the passer infraction was ridiculous. Taylor hit Romo in the thighs, not the knees. The face mask at the end? Probably a 5-yarder in most cases, but the way I see it, the refs botched 45 yards worth of Cowboys penalties, so even with the 15-yard facemask, it didn't even out.

I've already come to dismiss anything Czazzy decides to decry or opine about during the mornings. I pass it off as stirring up the pond to make the fish agitated and bitey, for the sake of ratings.

And as to yesterday, all I have to say is, "Thank you, Dallas." I see it like a lovely gift. T.O.'s case of butterfingers is like a nice Dolce & Gabbana dress shirt, tucked away neatly in a box. OutWittened's muff of a block is a wonderful box wrapping, all glittery and shiny. And the facemask grab on Sean Taylor as he was running the ball back is a silk ribbon with a bouncy bow around the box.

Thank you, Dallas. You really, really shouldn't have... but I appreciate your generosity all the more.

Boofer I just think it is weak to blame the ref. Just take the lost like a man and just say we beat you and leave it at that. But I am sure you, T.O., and Whitten are using all of your booohooo boxes. LMAO
How about them cowgirls.

The Governor and I ran out into the streets of Washington, DC yesterday. We ran without purpose as it was an expressive act of joy and mirth.

All our boys were at the game. A cowbpuke fanatic was arrested in their section. The charge? Being a huge bama in public. He was found guilty on the spot because he was a bama and as we discussed, to be a cowboys fan is to be a bama.

The refs were so bad in this one, the several non-called holds, the Sean Teezee roughing the passer penalty was ridiculous (the cowpukes had 2 worse hits on Brunnell but NONE of them should have been called). I have always believed that dallas is filled with filthy cheaters. If michael 'I will stab you, do blow, and cavort with strippers' irvin played today, he would not have caught a pass; that man pushed off every time he ever caught a ball. We saw a lot of that filthy cheating on Sunday. They cheated so much and were only caught a small % of the times which they did cheat. AMMTTS NOTATION: No one cheats as much as philadelphia.

I hate dallas so much that my joy knows no bounds for the remainder of the week. He dallas? Yeah, don't go swimming for a while; you might drown with the 'L' we hung on your neck. Have a nice flight home. No seriously, get the h*ll out.

The Office lagged my computer and it posted twice... I so don't have a case of the mondays. The Tuna might. TO definately does cause he has insomnia and likies the pill pills, and oh yeah, not to rain on anyone's parade but Brunell mentioned that he needed a win to protect his job, so all the carnies traveling around in JC's three ring circus... looks like Joe Gibbs is still putting his head into Brunell's mouth for a while longer.

I think TO may have taken a quick nap just as the ball arrived. Classic. I would love to see this result in the implosion of that suck-a$$ "team". What a birthday present! When my wife, an avid cowgirls fan, made me Redskin cupcakes yesterday, I knew their fate was sealed. Needless to say, I will probably never get them again.
HAIL!

Going to be enjoying this one for a long time. Don't care how sloppy it was; don't care how many problems we still have; don't care how much Dallas cheated: a win is a win is a win.

Must go out for lunch today and order Ahi-Tuna. Make mine rare.

Boofer come out come out where ever you are. What's wrong you hear foot steps and drop the ball? You was talking smack and let Vincent come through unblock. LMAO

"REDSKINS SUCK"

WE KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they still beat your @$$.

if skins were any good they woulda blown out the girls in the first quarter. EIGHT MINUTE DRIVE!!! and they called "unimaginative" running plays over and over and over and over.

how much did you pay for that kicker?
where were the refs on that holding call on griff?
where were the refs on that lamo call against taylor?
where were the refs when your boy "to" dropped that pass?

you LOST to a bad team. you LOST to a no legs, no ribs, shell of a QB. you LOST to a team without "their best deep threat" (-tuna). you LOST to team with a one legged starting RB. you LOST to team without an NFL kicker and punter. you LOST to team that chokes when inside the 35. you LOST to team that was 2-5!!!. simply put you LOST! you LOST in the same fashion as you did last year.

AND PHILLY now PHILLY is your team? typical.

Megskin, you might want to hold off on the Ahi for lunch. I hear it's incredibly bitter, today....

Hey, gang! What a game, eh?
Lots to discuss. First, let me say that "Borat," despite what La Canfora sez, is a classic. And, since the Monday night game is, shall we say, a stinker, turn to HBO for Da Ali G marathon tonight and tomorrow, starting at 9 EST.
Now, to the Skinz!
What a game, so many questions...Where was TJ Duckett on that goal-line shabingus? Was the offense truly scary in the third quarter or what? Don't they teach you first thing in PeeWee fubbawl (I didn't play) to not commit any penalties with the game on the line and mere seconds left? What was the Tuna thinking with that conversion attempt??? What was T.O. thinking when he dropped that pass??? Despite my lack of even PeeWee experience, I know to look the ball into my hands and then turn on the run.
Anybody think this win portends a run for the Skinz?

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 6, 2006 11:07 AM

Roy Williams-48 yard pass interference penatly.

Sean Taylor-48 punt block recovery for the win.

Oh by the way. Thanks Boofer. My buddy and I were yelling at all the Cowboy Fans yesterday as they filed out to their cars. Our chant? "Get your boohoo boxes out Cowgirl Fans." It was fun.

Posted by: Skinz | November 6, 2006 11:14 AM

What was T.O. thinking when he dropped that pass???

Is the Reaper anywhere near me. Let me look. No he is not no hard hit on this one. Damn I just drop the ball. What will Boofer do now. LMAO. That is what he was thinking Cindy.

Posted by: jm220 | November 6, 2006 11:14 AM

Boofer-
You suck! I was so ready to beg you for a boo hoo box and then your team completely boofed it up! And then you come on here and blame it on the refs? I'm calling a penalty on you! You are whining like the "bozo skinny fans" you always seem to mock. Just take it like a man beeeeatch!

"I don't know if that right side of the stadium all started blowing at the same time, but it barely came back," Novak said.

Quote of the week.

Will it change a season? Or will this be a dazzling fluke in a dismal season? Answers lie in Philly.

Oh next week ... I can't wait.

What did Gibbs do to fix things in the bye week? Nothing. What did Willimas do to fix things in the bye week? Everything. The defense has a real leader now in Troy Vincent, Archuletta has been dropped on the depth chart ala LaVar Arrington, and Springs is healthy. We are back to a mirror image of last year now. A defense that makes stops when it needs to, and an offensive looking offense. Maybe Gibbs should take a page from Williams book? One man, Troy Vincent, can make a difference. Try Campbell before Brunell has a 35 yard passing game in a 2-0 Redskins win.
