I am somewhat disapointted , but I now actually feel that Novack will become a better kicker as he gains more and more game time experince...

Posted by: 4th | November 28, 2006 5:05 PM

Are Novack and SwissHam going to share the same barber?

Cooley's hair looked good on the sideline this weekend. Tragic that he had to cut it though. That's what happens when you shack up with cheerleaders. They're all so concerned about their appearance, and by extension yours as well. Sadly, it is my lot in life to Save the Cheerleader, Save the World.

Jason,

Can't you delete this kind of uneccessary messaging?

Posted by: MemphisSkinsFan | November 28, 2006 5:18 PM

Can the "how 'bout them cowboys" phrase be officially retired now that Johnson wh0red it out for a commercial?

Man law that.

skins better not let novak go....this could be another david akers in the making. akers had quite a rough time in his tenure as a Skin, but the eagles haven't worried about a kicker since he got there. i hope this isn't Akers II.

Posted by: k-man | November 28, 2006 5:19 PM

I thought that commercial was the best one yet. "He's in his little man box". Love it.

The 'Skins might be in last place, but their moms love them.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 5:28 PM

Once again, I'm with Diddy on the man law commercial. I like it when JJ says that they're gonna need a new glass meeting box.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 28, 2006 5:28 PM

Looks like Boofer's dog is playing with his keyboard again

Posted by: SBXLII | November 28, 2006 5:29 PM

I don't mind the commercial either, I just think the "punchline" is terrible.

Posted by: OD | November 28, 2006 5:33 PM

By the way, who's that chick outside the man box? I'd like to google image her.

Posted by: OD | November 28, 2006 5:34 PM

Ah yes, Ham On Swiss vs. BloVak. This is a fight for the honor of being the not-the-lowest kicker on the totem pole....

Posted by: FlimFlam | November 28, 2006 5:34 PM

Whoever is posting this cowgirls cr*p is a coward for not owning up to it by leaving the "name" blank.

Posted by: Daddy-O | November 28, 2006 5:35 PM

That's Jewel. Man, do I have to do everything around here? This blog is like having another wife!

Posted by: 4-12 | November 28, 2006 5:37 PM

That CANNOT be Jewel, can it? I thought her grill was all messed up?

Man, I am going to have to rethink her book of poetry.

Posted by: OD | November 28, 2006 5:38 PM

Really? That was Jewel? I thought Jewel was the chick who looked like Renee Zellwegger.

BTW, Jewel has awful teeth.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 5:38 PM

Know what we need? A glass meeting box.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 28, 2006 5:39 PM

Dude, she fixed the grill a few years back. Made ALL the difference!

Posted by: 4-12 | November 28, 2006 5:39 PM

We TOTALLY need a glass meeting box. My favorite one (apart from the Miller Lite commercial) is the one from "True Lies".

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 5:39 PM

My new favorite is Jewel's.

Posted by: OD | November 28, 2006 5:41 PM

In 1999, Ty met Jewel whose father was an Alaska All-Around Rodeo Champion, and they became a couple. They are currently in a long-term relationship.

Ty Murray is currently featured in the Miller Lite "Man Laws" series of commercials.

Wikipedia is the greatest thin since The Google. I wonder if Dubya has discovered Wikipedia yet.

What's the new hotness among the kiddies these days? It took me a while to get onto MP3s, IM, MySpace, blogging, etc. I wonder what those cute little college kiddies are coming up with next.

Posted by: 4-12 | November 28, 2006 5:49 PM

Jewel's bad teeth were hot...

Posted by: Chris Larry | November 28, 2006 5:51 PM

re: Jewel, there was definitely something sexy about the ol'snaggletooth look. Plus she was a yodeler before she became a pop star. And in this case yodeler is not a euphemism.

But maybe I'm demonstrating a weakness for the offbeat, as previously evinced by my defense of Kelli "Neck Not Like That of Merton Hanks" Johnson.

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | November 28, 2006 5:54 PM

Ty "King of the Cowboys" Murray is the prez of my company - guy's got it going for him that's for sure.

Posted by: mile high | November 28, 2006 5:55 PM

Kristen Dunst also has a slight snaggle-tooth - which I find incredibly annoying and hot at the same time.

Posted by: mile high | November 28, 2006 5:56 PM

Posted by: Brick Again | November 28, 2006 5:57 PM

Isn't Kelli Johnson henceforth known as "Strawberry Shortcake". That was quite a jacket this weekend, very impressive. Pink seude or something. It takes quite an investment in one's clothing budget to decide to go with a suede jacket that is not brown or black.

BTW, it seems pink is the new orange. Even in sartorially challenged Seattle (well, taste-challenged Seattle, to be more accurate), I see beautiful women totally dolled up in pink. For a while, it was like being in LA LA land.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 5:59 PM

Note that until Armani or John Varvatos start making pink stuff, I will not be caught dead wearing pink (other than Thomas Pink dress shirts, that is).

Yes, I'd much prefer to start talking about hot celebrities again. Ever since Drew Barrymore went totally hippie insane (well even more than usual), I've lost most of my celebrity crushes. The closest I've got right now is Jessica Alba, but that's like saying "I like toast."

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 6:02 PM

Toast with lots of hot butter!

Posted by: Hailtothe... | November 28, 2006 6:03 PM

Diddy, the ladies love a man in a pink shirt. (I'm talking about a nice dress shirt, mind you, not something like a cutoff tee shirt, which could be miscontrued.) The pink dress shirt's appeal has something to do with confidence in your masculinity. Give it a shot.

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | November 28, 2006 6:08 PM

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | November 28, 2006 6:09 PM

As my stylist would say, "No."

Needless to say, having your own stylist says something about your masculinity. I'm afraid it's not anything good to say, but it is something to say.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 6:10 PM

Diddy - the kiddies (h.s.) are starting to wear 80's fashion again including Izod shirts including pink ones on boys so maybe masuclinity has been recolored.. .

the collars are starting to go up again.

Now all we need is a reprint of the Preppy Handbook, Izods layered with Brooks Brothers and pant pegging and I'll be in a full flashback.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 28, 2006 6:29 PM

Kelli Johnso is hot! You see the lips on that babe?

Posted by: Bigs | November 28, 2006 6:30 PM

I took care of that two threads ago, I believe. I am still waiting for a ruling on whether or not assless chaps are appropriate formal wear for a wedding. As everyone knows, it's very hard to tell the difference between a sorority chick's wedding and a Halloween party.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 6:31 PM

I know it was several threads ago, but it needed to be in this one. I consulted Miss Manners and she sez the assless chapz are fine, as long as you wear them with a pink shirt.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 28, 2006 6:41 PM

That won't even be the scariest thing at the wedding. 29-ish sorority chick weddings are great. Like walking Botox and boob job adverts. I'm breaking my usual policy of declining wedding invitations to attend this one. The material I get there should be good enough for two books.

And the assless chaps are going to be a HUGE hit.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 28, 2006 6:44 PM

Once again, someone is complimenting Kelli Johnson soley on her looks...just kidding. Being a woman sure helps with expressing opinions on this blog too. ;-)

OK, in the spirit of being positive and putting down the powerpoint for a few minutes...here's a list of a montage I'd like to see on you tube. I thikn you can set it to chumbawumba's tubthumping or something equally annoying . . .

- moss pulling down 4th down TD catch in big D
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- Moss catching 2nd TD in big D
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- da reaper nailing I can't remember who (help please) on 4th down in big D last year
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- COOOOOley catching first of 3 touchdowns
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- COOOOOley catching second of 3 touchdowns
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- Moss catching yet another TD pass in RJMD
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- COOOOOley catching third of 3 touchdowns
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement
- noshank hitting game winning field goal with no timeleft ont he clock
- Lavar welcoming aikman into retirement

now that would be entertaining, in the meantime I'll settle for watching da reaper dish out hits on youtube and just look forward to the falcons coming to town and getting it on!!!

peace

From a previous thread:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
here's the cool aid you need to be drinkin' if you want to believe this season will amount to more then a set of middle of the pack draft picks . . .

Cowboys beat ATL, NYG and PHL
Jint's also lose to NO and Wash (8 losses)
iggles also lose to Wash and CAR (8 loses)
CAR loses to ATL and NO (7 loses)
MIN loses to CHI and the Jets (8 loses)
SF loses to NO, SEA and Denver (9 loses)
ATL also loses to Wash (8 loses)
STL loses to Wash and CHI (8 loses)
GB loses to SEA and CHI (8 loses)
WAS beats NO

not talking the P word nor actually beilieving, but might be fun to keep track of just in case . . .

GB loses to SEA, one down, 19 to go . . .

from schlereth column earlier this year that you can find on

http://www.markschlereth.com/

thought it was interesting given soups emergence and the beginning of the cutler era

"In April of 2005 the Broncos and the Redskins orchestrated a trade that gave the Skins Denver's first-round pick in exchange for Washington's first rounder in the 2006 draft. With that trade the Washington Redskins selected Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell. And in Denver, that trade sent the powers that be skipping merrily down the halls of the Broncos practice facility. Coach Mike Shanahan went into the draft like a kid who was drug against his will kicking and screaming on an errand into the bank, and came out with a bounce in his step, all smiles and his pockets jammed full of lollipops.

Oh how things have changed in Denver. The buzz in the city at that time was how bad the Redskins football team was, and that like the kid at the bank, Mike Shanahan pilfered all their lollipops. The talk radio gurus loquaciously went game by game through their schedule and logically concluded that the Skins would be lucky to win five or six games. No question that the Donkeys were going to get a top 10 pick out of the deal. Who knows, maybe they could package both of their first-round picks and move up in position to take the number one over all draft pick.

Those pipe dreams have all but ended in the Mile High City and the talk radio gurus sound less like logical people and more like Homer Simpson (stupid Redskins). Because of the Skins' success the Broncos are going to get a low first-round choice, just like the one they gave up. From where they stand now, the top of the first round looks more like the top of Mt. Everest."

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | November 29, 2006 12:40 AM

Funny how the sky is falling in every NFL city. Funny, funny, funny. You simply can't take this stuff seriously. It's a game for us (for the players and coaches, it's obviously a living and worthy of their serious tone).

>>> "Blog out of control."

As long as Cindy is here, I somehow doubt that will ever be the case.

>>> "assless chaps and pink shirt and a sorority wedding?"

I only wear Brioni tuxedoes. I will wear assless chaps on top of the tuxedo pants, and only during the reception. Probably around the time I need to give my speech. Maybe through the night after that. It depends on my liquor situation. I have invested in an awesome flask.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 29, 2006 1:13 AM

I am a bit late to this party, but I hereby declare that the blog's quota for use of the phrase "assless chaps" has just been exceeded by this post and therefore that particular mental picture is now heretofore banned from use.

Exception: The phrase can still be used when combined with the name of a hot babe, e.g. Jewel, Jessica Simpson, etc. Bill Parcells, no.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine heard Tom Friend interviewed on the John Riggins Show yesterday. Friend stated that more than 1 person feels the way "Deep Throat" does. Also, the unnamed player got calls from ex-redskins after the story ran saying they agree with what was said. This means it has to be someone who has been with the team for awhile - which narrows the selection down greatly.

I do remember one invitation to a wedding where aformentioned chaps were considered haute couture. Given that this couple were heavy into things that make priests blush, though, it was unsuprising.

OK, now, to follow the lead of Haikuman, I'll talk about Jewel since I mentioned the chaps. She's rather the nice gal, at least when I did security at one of her concerts a few years back. She was mentally short a taco and an enchilada from the full combo plate, but you couldn't hold it against her, being as sweet as she was. The snaggly grill worked with the sort of backwoodsy character she is, or at least was at that time. And yes, she does yodel. A lot.

Posted by: Skinz | November 29, 2006 9:25 AM

4th you are right brother. It's time to start talking about the keys to the game. The key will be to keep Vick in check. Not allow him to run crazy on us. The best way to do that is to keep him off the field. Which means more running plays again this week.

Posted by: jm220 | November 29, 2006 9:26 AM

Skinz why did you have to go there? They think I am going to go Terry Tate all the time at my office. lol

Posted by: jm220 | November 29, 2006 9:27 AM

Czabe talking about us right now....

Posted by: 4th | November 29, 2006 9:33 AM

RE: Falcons

Keys to the game on D:

Stop the Run (ning backs)-Yes this is always important but it's ever more important this week. If we can mitigate Dunn et al. Vick will have to pass and that aint good.

Carlose Rogers- Needs to have a strong game like last week. If he can match up one on one then we can put 8 in the box to stop the run and ST can....

Sean Taylor 007- There is only one guy on our team that comes close to Vick athletically (i'm pretty sure that's not a word). If Carlose and Springs can hold their men down then ST can spy Vick. That would be huge.

LB crew can't crumble- Lemar is a bit of a liability in run but is a good cover MLB. He and the others need to shut down Algie Crumpler. When people take away that option for Vick he starts forcing throws.

Posted by: Skinz | November 29, 2006 9:36 AM

4th, you are right....Czabe is talking about the Ryan Clark incident that Jason wrote about....but he is actually putting the Skins organization down not Jason.

Czabe definately reads the blog. He is talking about when we all flipped out about Danny being worried about whether we thought he was negotiating rather than worrying about the team making retarded GM decisions.

Posted by: Skinz | November 29, 2006 9:43 AM

He said he printed out the Ryan Clark/Redskins rebuttel piece and 63 pages printed out because of all the comments. He also said he needs to read the blog more often because of all the 'Insider' info that's on here.......

Welcome Czabe....

The Redskins are 24-7 at home all-time vs. the current members of the NFC South (including playoffs).

Welcome Czabe....

Yeah he is welcome as long as he signs his name and not come after our boy JLC.

Taylor match up on Vick might be interesting. It also can end Vick season because he doesn't like to back down. We all know that the Reaper will lay the wood on him.

Dallas Coboys First Regular-Season Game: A 35-28 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 9/24/60. (**Started out as a loser- not a big shocker)

Posted by: Boofer_Scooper | November 29, 2006 10:06 AM

If Vick were to jump squads he'd lead our team and ~20 others in rushing per Czaben/per the USA Today. We need to stop the d@mn run, as usual...foundation Gibbs football. No Tom Foolery with letting that option get by and no TOAST on PA.

The good news is the man is 51%. Terrible %. Hopefully no CB's get to greedy on pics and we avoid penalties. I hope they use Duckett, although Betts looked good last week.

Last night was almost Ella McPherson good. About a jump shot away from Duke loss, which, combined with Terpies win would have been HUGE.

Does anyone feel the need to write Swissham a note and let him know where to find us? Reading this blog is the ONLY way to become a solid Redskin.

I went looking to slam Boofer with some stats, but realized, sadly, that the Redskins have been around since 1936, the Cowboys only since 1960, and the Cowpukes tie us in League Championships/Superbowls (5), have double the number of Conference Championships (10) to Redskins (5), Have (18) Division Championships to our (13) and (28) total play-off appearences to our (21).

In terms of winning championships and reaching the play-offs we have a lot of catching up to do.

Hail-Skins.

PG - Was that you who sent an email that was read on the Riggo show yesterday. I believe it was refering to the 'other' host when they were gigiling when reporting a story of a person killing his friend over a bet?

Posted by: 4th | November 29, 2006 10:21 AM

Oh, so it's 'we' as in 'we the blog' that they're talking about? Oh, lord, I hear the stampede of the unwashed masses coming. The Mensheviks are coming to beat on the Bolshevik gates. There goes tha neighbahood! (And it used to be such a nice place....)

As to keys to the game - one good fortune is that the Atlanta receiving corps is their own pass defense, lately. They've been dropping the ball so much, they make Gardner, Rod look like Rice, Jerry. Besides Algae Crumblecake, noone's particularly consistent. All the more attention to country crooners VapoRub & Dunn, then.

It'll also be a great time for Greggilla the Gorilla to play Rockalakashaka, some. Of course, given his terminal case of 'The Stupids', it won't happen. (And I'm not talking about Rocky, nowadays...)

Know what we need? A glass meeting box.

editor, we need a glass meeting box but NO GIRLS ALLOWED! ya'll can sit outside and watch.

so from now on...i propose the following GMB syntax:

***Glass Meeting Box***

i LOVE it when JS gets spanked but too bad they've edited that part out...

***End GMB***

and it finally dawned on me last night what "assless chap" is...good gawd! what kind of people live in sattle man!?! i second haiku's motion to ban that word.

Did you all read Boswell today? He is right on. This is how I felt when San Diego passed on Vick and took Brees and LT. You all can say what you want, but to me, that was a real dumb move. San Diego has made the playoffs once and lost in the first round. The Falcons went beat GB in Lambeau when they were good. They went to the NFC Championship and probably would have made the playoffs again had Vick not been injured for 3/4 of the season. Now Brees is in NO.

My point is you have to approach these things with common sense. Our kickers are TERRIBLE! They are the reason a lot of the coaches have been fired in DC. We lose so many close games because of bad kickers. We have a chance to get one who is coming from our nemesis. Why isn't he signed? Just because we missed on Archuletta and Carter doesn't mean we shouldn't bet on Vanderjagt. To me, that dude is Jason Elam...I'll take that. We could lock him up for years and never worry about the kicker again.

The Skins are being dumb here. Seriously.

I am lifting my one-year boycott of FedEx Field for the Eagles game. I have decided I will go. This is a big step for me...sort of like an alcoholic who goes to his first bar after 12 months and orders a ginger ale. I decided after last years CHargers game when LT punched us in the mouth in OT and then Springs threw the ball into the stands that I would not come back for a year. That game followed the Raiders game that we lost.

I hate the Redskins.

4th,

It wasn't me. I remain soley attentive to this site and the occasional email to Joe thru Redskins.com. He's never gotten back to me though...wierd.

Flim,

Gardner Rod will only look like Rice Jerry when the Brigade Light charges right and Anderson Pam is named natural woman of the year.

Seattle is full of crazy, tree-hugging, hippie people who are all closet conservatives, have absolutely zero fashion sense, and whose idea of culture is Yoplait. It's a "nice, but not friendly" sort of town. Not my favorite place. But no income taxes, to say nothing of carte blanche for me at any bar, make it "home".

I much prefer being in Sydney, Rome, or NYC, personally.

I thought that little guy in Arizona was a good kicker. But if you look at his stats, he was mediocre ('Skins-level mediocre) for years before last year. This year, he seems to be flaking out on the long field goals in a way that he most certainly did not last season.

Face it, kickers are strange people and total headcases. Picking a kicker is like playing roulette. And you know what? Roulette is a dumb game.

I think it's cute that Boswell answered our pronunciation question on SwissHam's name. I like SwissHam so much better than SwishEm...

Posted by: P Diddy | November 29, 2006 11:19 AM

Gov,

Read 1st 2 paragraphs of Boswell and threw up all over the paper. Some key stats for those sans WaPo this glorious hump day:

Preamble: this is all from memory, so don't quote it.

1. Skins have lose 14 games by 3 or less in 4 years.
2. Skins kickers b(x) 98 and 05 kicked (if you can call it that) 70.4%
3. T. Boswell really wanted Vanderhack.

Governor, you're joking about Vick over LT & Brees, right? Either that or someone is fraudulently posting as the Gov.

Brees is one of the top-5 QBs in the NFL and leads the league in passing. Tomlinson is tops in total yards and has 21 freaking rushing TDs this season. We're talking about two of the best players at their positions vs a guy with a 51% completion percentage.

Then again, Vick leads the league in flipping the bird to kids in the stands. So he's got that going for him.

****Let's tell the complete story, shall we:

NFL LEADING TE'S: MISSED BLOCKS LEADING TO GAME LOSING BLOCKED FG'S AFTER PREMATURE GLOATING ON THE FIELD

1. Jason Witten
2. Everyone else

Hey HaikuMan, yes lets tell the complete story. Witten did not miss the block, Marc Columbo did. He's not a tight end.
