Injuries

Marcus Washington missed practice with a knee injury and is questionable. For him to miss a practive means he is pretty beat up. That'll be one to watch. Rocky could end up getting his first starts.

Lemar missed with a knee. Rabach (hand) and Samuels (knee) rested as well, but like Lemar they are probable and expected to play. Jansen is questionable with the torn calf, but he is pretty intent on being able to play this week.

I thought when Rocky played he was on the weak side. Could he jump right in there on the strong side where Marcus plays? Or do I have this wrong? I'd hate to see him do poorly in a different position and somehow get in Grilliams' doghouse as a result, getting even less PT.

Oh wait, the season is almost over, soon there will be no PT for anyone. Ah hell, play Rocky every defensive snap the next two games, just pick a position.

Thanks for the update.

Gov/amtts:

Sorry, posting from previous thread . . .

just to level set - IF we finish 7-9, where are we likely to pick, 20-something?

also, given how few picks we have, any thoughts of trading down? cuz if we can't get DE or mike LB we may want to add more depth at a few positions (D-line, O-line, CB)?

I do like the idea of having two hybrid safeties and am starting to think that is the only way to make it really work with da reaper. that way either of them can come up as needed to stuff the run. . .

now that it think about it, having two reapers may take the pressure off of having to upgrade LM at MLB. . .

dubG would go nuts with talent like that. . .

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | December 20, 2006 5:05 PM

My understanding is we get between 8-10, which is right where Landry will be.

Go google that BAMF and read about him. Plus, we would have a guy named "LaRon"

Posted by: The Governor | December 20, 2006 5:07 PM

BTW, AMTTS is got to be the signature moniker onthis board . . .

Every time I see you post it reminds me of a key play in the SB where we were down and the donkeys looked like they were going to steamroll us. We were facing 3rd and very long from inside our 15 yard line and Theisman hit Art for a key first down and the rest is history. . .

that guy really had a knack for making big plays that didn't always get noticed. if he doesn't make that play, we may not have won that game. We would've had to punt the ball back to the donkeys who would get the ball back in good field position up by 10. . .

he better get in this year!!!!

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | December 20, 2006 5:21 PM

not theisman, D. williams

for all you idiots who say champ is overrated.. you are the same idiots who worship sean "burnt toast" taylors JOCK STRAP!!Taylor has given up more TDs this yr then Champ has his whole life!its only because one is here one is gone(LAVAR was GOD here & CRAP gone)your knowledge of football is limited to redskins(i bet none of you have even followed champ in denver)if you give up TDs you better have ints(which champ leads in)how many does taylor have(maybe 1)you deserve a crap team because your crap fans!!!

Posted by: GOD | December 20, 2006 5:29 PM

WRONG!

and champ continued to give up TDs against division rivals in denver . . .remember porter from the raiders taking him to school on MNF in a home game in the snow at Mile High.

he has gotten better, no doubt, da reaper has had many more impact plays then champ had while a redskin and I can't wait to see the reaper when he is in year 6 as a pro . . .

peace out!

All these injuries...we're doomed! We'll never make the playoffs now!

Oh, there has to be a word in that Webster's book tha defines why we all still watch these games...

Posted by: P Diddy | December 20, 2006 5:52 PM

You could go to nfl.com and adopt a playoff team...

P:

for me the word is Blizzard. . .

16 inches and still getting 1-2 inches per hour through mid-day tomorrow. . .

"Adopt a playoff team": http://playoffs.nfl.com/bandwagon/

AWESOME.

Sadly, my team is..."The Green Bay Packers". I can root for Favre any day! I've always loved that guy.

skinsfan, never disagree with GOD he knows all and may he have mercy on your soul for your blasphemy.(dont go out in the rain)

It's Ok to disagree if you have a personal relationship w/ HIM

Diddy - The word is glutton... the other word is punishment.

I'm intrigued by the draft talk about LaRon... Two stud safeties... that's definitely an approach we haven't tried before. What the hell, we've tried just about everything else!

Posted by: FromTheICU | December 20, 2006 7:35 PM

The Packers!!!??? Sorry, Diddy. Just move to the Titans.

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 20, 2006 7:38 PM

I checked out the bandwagon thing. They gave me the freakin' 49ers. 49ers?!?! You've gotta be kidding me. If they're gonna suggest a bandwagon, can they at least recommend one that *might* be headed to Miami?

Asked the Bandwagon:
Jacksonville Jags, it replied.
Um, no -- cue Mora.

I got the Denver Broncos, which I'm fine with. But I think I may go with my boy Brady. Matter of fact, I'm absolutely incensed that Brady was left off the pro bowl. What does a man have to do? He's got three rings, a few MVPs, and he is guiding a terrible team to the top tier of the AFC.

LaRon Landry. LaRon Landry. LaRon Landry.

The is bit early, but what the hay . . .

Mock draft has us picking at 6 (sounds high to me if we win out, but haven't gone to the standings to verify). . .

picking a DT named Branch from michigan. . .

i got the friggin vikings! i wanted the iggles! i even picked to be an "evergreen" tree! thinking i'd get the iggles since it's got "green" in it.

go iggles! go garcia! go westbrook, a local kid! go andy reid! your wasteline makes me smile! go jj, you deserve an SB win and you had tom brady beat in the last one! go trotter!, you had the class to show up at skins park to greet gibbs!

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 9:14 PM

edit:
go iggles!, thanks for letting us make it in last year, better us than the girls right?! go garcia!, the rainbow warrior!

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 9:16 PM

After watching this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvKaO78Ov2I

I've decided that we can't draft Laron. Between the Reaper and Laron they'd would have to change football rules as no receiver would go over the middle against us.

Posted by: Skinz | December 20, 2006 9:19 PM

gov, i don't like the laron pick. too high for a safety. me thinks skins need help on D line, LB, O Line.

btw, someone mentioned bobby bethard picking ryan leaf. i just wanted to say i'd have picked ryan leaf over peyton manning as well if i was the chargers' gm. he just played such a good rose bowl(?).

the knock on archie's boy was that he couldn't win the big one. what a shock huh! imagine a 4 year Phenom not being able to beat danny woeful? and then imagine the same team winning the national title the very next year WITHOUT archie's boy!

also rember when jim mora called michael vick a "coach killer" last week or something. now i wonder if he'd have the guts and the unbigotary to call archie's boy a "coach killer" when they fire dungy after this year???? cuz after all archie's boy got HIM fired!

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 9:23 PM

how come troy smith isn't on there? underclassmen?

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 9:32 PM

Can you imagine 3rd and long? we'd have either one of the da reapers effectively play mike LB and the other hang back in a 3 saffety package. LM could play willy. opposing offenses would have a sub 30% conversion on 3rd downs . . .scary. . .

I think TO retires or leaves the NFC altogehter if that happens. . .

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | December 20, 2006 10:12 PM

do i need to summon leonard?

i say trade the pick for a 2nd and 3rd rounder.

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 10:18 PM

dude, i like medium.

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 10:22 PM

speaking of denver this is just plain ridiculous:

Northwest Airlines has pulled an in-flight magazine that features NBA scoring leader Carmelo Anthony on the cover.

Posted by: dealer | December 20, 2006 10:32 PM

Why is that Carmelo thing so ridiculous? Would you call it ridiculous if TO were on the cover? How about a group photo of the Bengals? If he is suspended 15 games by the league, he can be suspended from the spot next to barf bag.

Posted by: SMACK | December 20, 2006 11:06 PM

I suspect that if we traded down we could keep a 1st and also get a 2nd a 3rd or a 3rd and 4th, but don't know for sure, someone out there probably has the infamous points chart and can answer for sure. . .

remember someone saying this was going to be a deep draft. Question is who'd be there that someone would want to trade up for?

JlaC:

what, no rant on the choice for US nat'l futebol team coach?

what happened to klinsi?

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | December 20, 2006 11:39 PM

Bummer, I got the Falcons in the adopt a team sweepstakes (which, by the way, is a very well done little feature. the fact that these things are so ubiquitous and high quality now obscures how cool the technology is, and how not so long ago almost all internet content was much simpler.)

I cannot root for the Falcons. Just can't. I enjoyed the Dirty Bird but cannot root for the Double Birds. F 'em.

With that said, I'm not sure whom to root for with our Skinnies out, aside from 'whoever is playing the Cowboys.' And I will be rooting against the Ravens, though they look depressingly good.

Rooting against all recent SB champs, especially the Patriots. F 'em, they've won enough already, and I can't bear the thought of any more chapters in the Legends of Tom Brady and Bill Belichik. "Our greatest achievement was winning with THIS team, the worst of our four..." BARF.

Like many of you, I'd be into a Saints-Chargers Super Bowl. And unlike many of you I'd be fine with the Colts getting in and winning. They benefit from the Mickelson Conundrum: I couldn't give two shtis about them,, but Iam so sick and tired of hearing about them NOT winning that it would be relief to freakin' get it over with.

Aaaaah, is it the weekend yet?

Hey, here is some fantastic news to brighten the holiday season: the broadcast team for Skins-Rams is Kenny Albert and Brian "Why yes, I AM wearing eyeliner. It accentuates my tiny, deep-set pig eyes. Do you think it looks creepy?" Baldinger.

Merry Christmas from Fox Sports, everybody!

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | December 21, 2006 1:44 AM

Skinz, that youtube video of LaRon Landry looks great, but supposedly we already have a safety who could blitz (actually, the highest paid safety in the NFL). I'd like to see a highlight video with a safety who can cover, pick, AND blitz.

I'm not done with the Vernon Fox experiment, much less the Reed Doughty tryout. I am with Governor though about going for the best athelete rather than position need. If he is a great athelete, he can adapt. Maybe we can move Archuleta to blocking tight end.

Posted by: dcsween | December 21, 2006 9:42 AM

Re: the Laron YouTube video.

Big deal. It tells us nothing about the kid. Two straight-line high speed tackles on a qb. Brady would have just stepped aside and he would have whizzed by him looking like a fool.
