Sitting in for JLaC/Tony at 'Tona
No, not THAT Tony!
I have nothing much to say, but technology demands a new thread, so here we go.
Fifty-one laps to go at 'Tona with Tony Stewart and Team Gibbs making a move. Stewart is pretty good at drafting -- maybe he could help the Skins!

Adam, just killing time while the boy was napping. And I'm not watching the race, just the online racecast and this blog.
We're off for a walk now that he's up. Lovely day in Portland. Talk amongst yourselves.

You can't walk out with just a few laps left!!!!!
Posted by: Cindy | February 18, 2007 5:55 PM
And boo on Stewart wrecking. Oh well...
Posted by: Nate in the PDX | February 18, 2007 5:55 PM
It's snowing again...

We have our own RI cover jinx now. Sweet! Quick, make a thread about Phil Mickelson.

So much excitement - it's hard to know which one to watch: Daytona without Stewart, PGA golf, or the Wash. Post snow gauge.

NASCAR.....BOO..........Wake me in July...
Posted by: chris Larry | February 18, 2007 6:49 PM
That must have been an imposter. The real chris Larry would have said:
F NASCAR
Posted by: D Boy | February 18, 2007 6:54 PM
That was some ending at Daytona. Meanwhile, no one wants to win the PGA event. And it looks like someone is tampering with the snow gauge.
Posted by: D Boy | February 18, 2007 7:14 PM
You guys are having intermittent snow, we're having intermittent sun. The boy and I made it about twenty blocks to his favorite bakery/cafe (the one with the big play area) just fine, but on the way back we got drizzled on. Which is also fine.
Ok, so Tony Stewart was in last place, Gibbs' other guy JJ Yeley didn't win, Ricky Rudd didn't win. But my Arkansas homie Mark Martin was second, and Virginians Burton and Sadler finished at #3 and 6. Which is something. I guess.
Fan-freakin'-tastic start to the NASCAR season.
I know a lot of you could give two shtis about Daytona and auto racing except as it potentially impacts Joe Gibbs' availability to run our beloved team.
In that spirit, if we did a virtual show of hands up here, which would prove more popular, NASCAR or soccer?

Am I the only person into the NBA All Star game?
Posted by: Lisa | February 18, 2007 7:33 PM
Lisa - I believe you are. Okay, Chloe's bathtime. I'll post a new thread in a little while and try to get this beer binge night out in Dc hammered down in the next few days.
Oh yeah, and I hate NASCAR. (But did finally see Ricky Bobby this weekend).

pulled one of those "took a nap an woke up when it was dark and thought I was late to work" deals. Go me. I have officially spent 24 hours without RI and it felt weird. I may have a problem.
Jack Bauer celebrates Valentine's Day by killing puppies and kittens at the SPCA... which is pretty much what he does on the weekend anyway.

Lisa, I'm interested in our Wizards, especially Eddie J on the bench. I'm not watching the game but hope the best for our dudes from Washington.

F All all star games...
name the team....can the game
Posted by: chris Larry | February 18, 2007 7:49 PM
chris Larry, I appreciate where you're coming from, but it's the same fundamental problem faced by those who would cut down the NFL pre-season: how would you replace the revenue the league sucks out of that silly, pointless exhibition event?
You never see leagues intentionally reduce their revenue. (Well, the NHL intentionally crippled their already faltering business by canceling an entire season.)
We can vote (demonstrate our derision) with our dollars and our eyeballs -- don't attend these stupid events and don't watch them on the teevee. That's about it, though.

Man, I am Captain Obvious today.

Um, what the hell is going on with the killer Metro buses? That is sad, scary stuff.

All Star Game and Daytona. Snooze. This must be the slowest sports weekend all year....

sorry guys(lh, cindy for the late reply)...LH, coaches in the nfl coach (like mr. wilbon said in his last article about the skins). GM's pick the players. we'll never know what would've happened had he gone to a not so dysfunctional team with a bit more competent FO.
and mr. pasta sauce(patarellie), where's your fcking nick saban now you fatso???!!!
as far as roy goes...all i know is gary williams team knocked his team (which was supposed to be more talented/more heralded) out (i want to say a couple of times) from the tourny...so that question has already been answered. :)
lh, thanks for clearing that 10 year suspended sentence thing for me...still stealing is stealing...inside job or not...
but here're some pics from today's snow (just a couple for now)...i had never seen this before in my life...
jason, do you recognize the place? you should. you must pass by it 100 times a year... btw, if you want to have some fun get chloe and your blades on and come on over...it's been awesome here!

NASCAR SUX. I live in the heart of Nascar Hell (well, maybe the small intestine), and all the rednecks drive me insane. Plus, I am employed by a few.....
Ricky Bobby was pretty lame, like all the other movies that Will Farrell headlines in. I am convinced he is not lead material. Old School, on the other hand, absolutely kills me.

dealer - that mascot picture is killer. i cracked up when i saw that.

• Most people around Indianapolis believe the Redskins will get a quick deal done with Bills middle linebacker London Fletcher. The Redskins were hurt a couple years ago by the loss of middle linebacker Antonio Pierce, who left for the Giants. Fletcher isn't expected to be re-signed by the Bills. The Redskins don't have the cap room to sign Clements, but most believe Fletcher will head off to Washington and reunite with former Bills head coach Gregg Williams, the Redskins' defensive coordinator.
• The interesting part of the Redskins' release of safety Troy Vincent is that Vincent requested it. Though it might have been considered a cap move to save the Redskins $1.54 million, Vincent asked to be let go. He wanted to move on to a different team that could offer him more playing time. Vincent is 35.

Wow, did I just jinx Tony Stewart or what??? It's all my fault. Of course, now he's free to help with the No. 6 pick.
