A Correction
Hey there, just got back from a rehearsal taping of the new Washington Post/Comcast show that's starting daily on Monday. Seems like it's going to be a lot of fun.
Anyway, back from Bethesda now and able to update a few things. first of all, I misspoke (mis-typed, screwed up) earlier. From what I gather the Skins have scheduled a meeting with Okoye this week, but he and others will not actually be in the building until early April. Expect Adams, Anderson, Carriker, Branch and many others to appear as well.
Also, I am glad this Travis Fisher thing is not put to bed. Not sure why that was reported incorrectly in other places, but he never had a deal with the Skins, and was never on the verge of doing so, so I never wrote that he did. He made his vist a few weeks back and the sides remained in contact, but there was no deal.
He got one year in Detroit for what I am hearing was $2 million. Drew Rosenhaus, the official agent of Redskins Park, made a few pitches to the Skins over the weekend, but these guys are comfortable with what they have and would lveo to develop another young depth corner if possible. I don't get the sense they are going to move for David Macklin or any of the other middling corners still out there, either.
Anyway, that's all I got for now. Cheers.

And it's spring break on top of that. You should be in Mexico not Bethesda.

Jason,
Do you know if anyone from the Skins attended Gaines Adams Personal Pro Day? I think it was scheduled for today.

J-La I'm not sure I can ever trust you again after this colossal mistake! Congress needs to call for hearings and subpoenas! : )

4th - My gawd I'm the Worst Person in the World Today! I'm so honored. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for encouraging me to always try to be the worst at everything I did. To my teachers who frequently commented that I'm the worst student they ever had and of course my own students a handful of who probably think I'm the worst person in the world almost every single day.
Thank you peeploggers for your love and support in my worstness.

Lisa do you think we have chance at Adams? Apparently we're leaning towards Branch because he's a left DE and Adams plays right as does Andre Carter.
At this early stage in a career how hard is that switch from left to right?

dealer - not having followed ncaa mbbal this season at all I went with my heart and randomness so in your honor I've got your Terps going all the way but losing to the Hoyas as my loyalties lie there first.
Whadya think my chances are?
Random rant from the soapbox but I've got to say out loud somewhere - Hey General Pace you're a batard but oh hey that's just my opinion so no need to apologize.

He's the chairman of the joint chiefs who made an on the record comment to the Chicago Tribune about how he thinks homosexuals are immoral and shouldn't be in the military if they are out and then issued a statement saying he's sorry that he focused on his opinion but it's his and he won't apologize. Now I agree one shouldn't apologize for one's opinion but it's 2007 and there are plenty of gays and lesbians serving and fighting and getting wounded and dying in the military right now and it's ridiculous that they are forced into the closet.
The Soapbox is back babee!

Jason Campbell brought something up in JLaC's article I've kinda been wondering about - maybe some of you super-smart Insiders could help answer it: is Campbell's form or technique messed up or weird in some way? People always talk about "prototypical" and atypical quarterback technique, etc. I never played football - why is it so important to have whatever I assume people like Al Saunders would call perfect technique in the pros. Obviously worked in college for Campbell - why change it?
I do understand that Soupy drops his arm a bit, consequentially has a long wind-up, and that this means it takes longer from hitting his last step on the drop to releasing the ball. I assume that isn't all there is. Anyone else know?

I think it's not just his release but his footwork. I remember hearing commentators discuss that he struggled with the 3 step drop but I imagine that is youth and inexperience as much as anything.
I also remember that he has to squat almost to the ground when he's under center becuase of his height and Rabach's low stance. It was always a little wince inducing to see how low he had to go.
Side link - I make my seniors learn the US states and capitals and take a map test. One of them told me about this site. Thought some pleepoggers might want to test their geography mettle.

I know that Soups has some issues with the 3 step drop although I think it's mostly due to inexperience and youth. The other thing I remember wincing at was how low he had to squat due to his height and Rabachs low stance. Don't know if that can be fixed.
Random link - I make my seniors learn states and captials and take a map test and one of them told me about this site www.addictinggames.com where you can do maps. The name is accurate it is addicting.

sfskin,
I'm not sure what the Skins are going to do but I really have not heard Branch mentioned. Heard more about Anderson. After watching Path to the Draft I hope they do not draft him...Adams I was impressed with.

dealer,
I could not access the bracket....

Diesel... I saw Corey Davis at Wal-Mart last night and he didn't look like he was preparing himself for the 'next level'... Just didn't seem as impressive to me up close and buying groceries. Ah well, there's still Akeem Jordan.
Posted by: Dorf | March 13, 2007 9:17 PM
Lisa - a lot of the mock drafts I've see have us taking Branch. Not that one should put a lot of stock in those.
Hey did you see the Lance Briggs interview on NFLN? I wish he'd just come out and be honest and say hey it's about the $ plain and simple.

sfskin, I did see the Lance Briggs interview....you are right - he should just come out and admit it. I thought Rod Woodson did a good job advising him to think about it instead of making a rash decision.

dealer, I tried that link and it let me in but then asked me to create a new bracket name....the "join an existing group" was inoperable.

Couldn't agree more with sfskin, RE: General Pace.
Interesting, I was at a banquet with a three-star General in attendance this past weekend, and he echoed sfskin's sentiments (prior to General Pace's remarks, I believe). Americans are Americans, and Americans willing to die for their country are infinitely braver than my tequila-sipping butt any day of the week, irrespective of their sexual orientation.
I love when we bring the Soapbox out around here.
:-)

my bracket is in. as I havent seen a single NCAA game this year (no coverage - just all the Sports Guy columns drooling about Kevin Durant), I am guaranteed to do well ... we need more peeps signing up for this thing.

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Wow, it only took people two to start calling a guy named Campbell, soup. I bet our QB never heard that one before. How original... how... lame.

I was wondering why we are not looking at Ian Scott? I mean he is 25 and started a few games for the Bears, didn't Blache coach him? If we add him and take Branch or Anderson, we have depth on the line, and a few players that can move inside and play outside. It just seems very logical to me to sign him, I don't know what other people think but I don't believe i'm alone on this.

Pink C.C., there's a name I haven't seen in a LONG time here. Welcome back!
sfskin, back to yesterday ... the difference among the colonies (D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, US VI, Am. Samoa) is that ONLY residents of D.C. have to pay federal income tax. Something like 70% of the rest of the country labors under the belief that D.C. residents get a pass on federal income tax.
