Boschetti's Back (At Least For Training Camp)

Skins re-signed Ryan Boschetti to what I am told is a 1 year deal for essentially the vet. min. They opted not to tender him at $880,000 a few weeks back, letting him become a UFA. They love his work ethic and attitude, but it will be far from assured he makes the team.

They are targetting D Line in the draft and with Golston and Montgomery looking like players, and plenty of old heads still around on the D Line, it'll be tough. I like Ryan a lot, he's about as down-to-earth of a guy as you will ever meet. Can't say that I agree with him that tube socks are made to worn with flip-flops, but hell, I'm no fashion expert.

Also have some LaVar stuff I will put up later but I am trying to get a story done for tomorrow's paper and get a bunch of calls made as well while the girls sleep (hope to sneak in a nice long walk with Chloe later this afternoon).

Okay, will post more later.

Cheers.

PS - My main man Davy Lambert has been wondering if he could get some blog love, so here it is dude. I kept forgetting before, but the shout out has arrived. You want to be called "THE HiBACHI," so I'm calling you THE HIBACHI (funny, I thought some other guy in town may have already taken that nickname, but suppose there's room for two hibachis in any major metro area).

Jason,

Well, aren't you a big tease? What do you mean you'll put LaVar stuff up later? Take the Boschetti stuff down and put the LaVar stuff up now! This is like Fox news "More nude pictures of Antonela -- details at 10:00." Shame on you.

Jason:

I am absolutely fiending for LaVar news. Just a few weeks ago, I hung up the picture of him and I together in Dan Snyder's box moments after they selected Sean Taylor. It was the happiest moment of my life. Second was my wedding and third was the night I repped it to the death in Glover Park for the first time.

I love you all so much. You know how much? My arms can't go that wide. Booyakashot, son.

Jason don't tease me with anyting about Lavar. That is not the kind of information you keep to yourself. Post now or feel my wrath. I know where you work!

HIBACHI has been trademarked in DC.

In fact, I heard that some Japanese steakhouses are now calling thier grills "oversized food warmers where groups can uncomfortably gather and share haphazardly cooked food."

Boschetti resigned! You da man J-La wringing blood from a stone at this point.

Cyn Cyty please please please be our babysitter while J-La contributes to the overpopulation of the world : ) otherwise we're gonna have 2,545 posts per thread and my scroll button will break.

There is a flurry of stuff about who is taking/wanting Quinn in the draft. Apparently Detroit is considering an OT. Whose QBing Detroit at this point?

Posted by: sfskin | March 12, 2007 2:19 PM

I think Hibachi also is the tribe from which Lisa Simpson claimed ancestral heritage earlier this season.

Posted by: dcsween | March 12, 2007 2:20 PM

sfskin - I don't know, maybe they can get a WR to do it. They seem to have plenty of those...

I've been a Skins fan for 24 years, so how have I never seen this video until this weekend?

It's... it's... beautiful

sfskin, Detroit's slinger is Jon Kitna, the guy who stepped in for Carson Palmer in the playoffs when Kimo von Oehoffen (sp?) snapped his knee. Kitna actually had some decent number last season, in large part b/c of a DB turned WR named Mike Furrey. Detroit's problem in the O-game is the line, not the backfield ... similar to Arizona ... unlike the Texans (where both stink).

Posted by: dcsween | March 12, 2007 2:23 PM

also, I heard that Tampa Bay is trying to trade up all its other picks to get BOTH JaMarcus Russell AND Brady Quinn. All QBs, all the time.

SF, I solemnly promise to give a new comment every day, even if I have nothing to say other than "I miss Jason. I miss Jason. I miss Jason....."

Jason, you are the man... I appreciate the shout out... keep doing what you do and lets hear this lavar news...

Cyn Cyty, if you have nothing else to say, other acceptable posts include: test; poop; and panties. With either of the last two, you may want to forego inclusion of your name.

Lavar is moving to Denver to be closer to Patrick Ramsey. They used to go hunting together in the offseason.

F Hibachis I hate japanese food!!

Did someone else already point out that the WaPo hasn't even set the times forward on this blog? The Washington Post? Someone must be embarrassed, although they'll probably claim it was George Bush's fault. There ought to be a few jobs open for some skilled IT professionals after this mess.

Posted by: KK | March 12, 2007 3:04 PM

Lavar's considering sitting out the year, taking an asst. LB coach position on my staff, and re-evaluating whether he can come back in '08.

Posted by: Joe Pa | March 12, 2007 3:05 PM

Panties.

RE: YouTube video

If you pause the video at the 22 second mark you can see a young Michael Steele

Welcome back Bosco! My wife was friends with him in HS out in the Bay Area, says he's a pretty chill guy. Haven't found a way to get hooked up with tickets yet though... Oh well, glad to see him still getting a chance with the Skins

Posted by: Gibby | March 12, 2007 3:20 PM

That's the funniest video ever.
I'm crying.

Posted by: COskinsfan | March 12, 2007 3:20 PM

Follow up on Kitna ... Roy Williams, Kitna's #1 WR, had great numbers too. 4th in the NFL in receiving yards. It was his #2 guy, Furrey (#17th), who really had the impact on Kitna's passing yardage.

Is it possible that the smirk has been enhanced on the little head shot which accompanies Mike Wise's columns? I swear, he looks especially smug today. Just want to smack that smirk right off his mug.

Sorry, had to vent on this one. I know I've commented on the smirk before, but today it really got to me.

Bosco was also George's passcode for his ATM/Bank card in an episode of Seinfeld, much to Peterman's curiosity.
