JaMarcus Russell Killed It

This isn't directly Skins related, but I spoke to few people today who were at LSU's Pro Day, and from what I heard this QB did some pretty amazing stuff. His arm strength is ridiculous, he oozes athleticism and he blew away the throng of scouts watching from the sidelines, Vinny (Uncle Junior) C. included.

Yeah, the Skins had peeps there. LSU could get 4 kids taken in the first round, so there was plenty of reason to be there.Don't see any way the Raiders pass on Russell first overall after what I heard tonight.

I have also heard that Carriker improved his stock from his pro day. Greg Blache watched him last week and I know the Skins scouted Jamaal Anderson yesterday as well (I think Blache was there, too, at Arkansas).

Please trade down and pick up this guy. He is a beast with constant pressure on the QB and will demand some double teams when not facing a top level lineman. This will open up holes for our D Tackles. Make it happen Vinny & Gibbs.

JLC, any confirmation on the Todd Wade news? Schefter at nfl.com says "agreed to terms".

dcsween, NFL.com says Wade is a done deal...

From Adam S. at NFLN:
The Washington Redskins reached agreement with free-agent OL Todd Wade on a two-year, $6.2 million deal that includes $3.5 million worth of guranteed money.

Former Cowboys QB Drew Henson reached agreement with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year contract for the minimum.

The Indianapolis Colts signed free agent quarterback John Navarre, a one-time starter for the Arizona Cardinals.

My opinion is that they're signing Henson and Navarre because no one wants to be the one to give up on the "next Tom Brady". My other opinion is that they are confused.

Wade was certainly impressive enough in his one start last year, but I think you have to start at least twice to get a 7yr/$49M contract. I don't know that this addresses the LG position, but he's clearly worth keeping on board.

ok, I give up trying to chase down Jason...

Maybe the 'skins are trading up? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-russell031407&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I think it would be a big mistake...

duck, wrong. 'reached agreement' is not the same as 'done.' Loose lips lose cred when they say 'signed' without a signature (signed means deal is done). Intermediate steps include close to agreement, agreed to terms, agreed to contract terms. Careful journos use words carefully.

That danged Adam Schefter--got me again!

duck, sorry if that sounded harsh. Haven't notice your name before, so welcome! Good to have you here. Is 'duck' like the bird, or is it like the action required when you are sitting on the sideline and Brunell was supposed to be throwing to the flat?

HA. And let this kid go to Oakland, they need more then this to fix that ship, we got a young QB. I think the skins need the 19 year old DL myself, get em young keep em long.

...like the bird. As of this writing, I have never been struck by a flying object while someone was yelling "duck!". However, I have been known to misunderstand a certain expletive, and then asking "What?" only to be greeted by "Is your name *uck?"

The hazards of bad Fraternity nick-names, I guess...

As a Michigan alum, I remember the 'Brady vs. Henson' wars that happened at Michigan. In college no one questioned Henson's talent and pro potential but he was surrounded by some great offensive weapons (3 of his OL play in NFL: Huchinson, Baccus, and Williams; RB and WR were 1st/2nd round choices). Brady was heady, composed, and came up big in big games (sound familiar?).
Neither Navarre nor Henson are Brady, nor will they ever be; Remember that Montana wasn't that heralded in college, but close inspection of his performances (the Cotton Bowl game stands out) provide a portent of his future success. Those two guys just don't have the 'it' factor that Brady had, so it ain't happnin'

let's get serious shell we, to begin with Jamarcus Russel, has plenty of charachter issues and there is no way Gibbs, is going to take a chance on him, and besides the move don't make any sense whatsoever for this reason, when you have campbell as your starter at qb what in the world are you going to use, as ammunition to trade down to the no1 pick overall, and remember who you are dealing with who knows what he might ask for, and it wouldn't suprise me if he asked for your 1st four picks overall especially, if you have a high pick in the 1st round like the redskins do this year, besides trading for no.1 overall would be stupid, because this team needs to address the defense more than the offense, let's say the redskins needed qb in my opinion Brady Quinn is a better qb than Jamarcus russel for this reason Brady Quinn is more NFL ready, than Jamarcus Russell. some people disagree, with me on that point but that's okay, but the only reason Jamarcus russell, won those bowl games in LSU, is because LSU, had a lot better talent not only on defense but on offense as well
