I grew up a Chiefs fan...I do agree that Arrowhead is a great place to see a fubball game. It's interesting that, as old as the stadium is, HOK got it so very right. Chiefs fans are fair weather...I have to agree.

The problem with Fed Ex might be the stadium design. You would think a deep bowl structure would be very loud and have good acoustics.

Also the fact that while at the game, I have to tell others around me prior to the game starting, that I am going to be loud, screaming and cheering my team on. I never cuss, but the stares I get sometimes is wierd. Why am I the exception. Old guys with headphones on never standing up.

That is the problem, high ticket prices take away the rabid fan. People come into Fed Ex high and mighty and cannot stoop to my level. Bunch of stuffed shirt MF'ers.....

Skins fans are pretty fairweather, too. We are, as has been previously pointed out, coked up hamsters who have been raised to believe that Redskins tickets are gold and are genetically predisposed to attend every game.

Although we are compelled to attend, however, we do not have to cheer when they perennially underachieve and blow 2nd half leads agains 0-5 teams with rookie QB's.

Ah yes, Missouri, the State that brought us Gregg Williams (and home of John Ashcroft). I ate one of the best steaks of my life in KC, Mo. Seems like a nice place to raise kids.

Someone said it yesterday, but the best scenario that Skins fans should hope for is that Adrian Peterson is available at #6 ... and that either Buffalo (#12) or Green Bay (#16) feels the need to swap in the first round and throw in the second rounder.

Nothing splashy, just vanilla flavored draft picks (hungry to prove themselves as better than the guy or five projected ahead of them) and solidly within the first and second round. DE first and CB second.

You should also note that Fedex field week to week probably holds the largest number of opposing fans in the NFL.

That 0-5 team had a pretty good QB that day...ya it sucked that we lost to Tennessee, but my cousin who was with me is a Titans fan and 4 years ago we went to Tennessee to see the skins clash against the Titans there and we were crap and beat them at hom so .....it happens...it was a great experience!!

I say we have a lot of fairweather fans due to the fact that week to week, our stadium is 25-30% full of fans of the opposing team because ticketholder give them up so they don't have to watch the train wreck.

if we win and win consistenly it will get loud, its also an offensive town, unlike NY or Phila. we like to see big plays and over the years in general (last 10 or so) we have been medicore to poor on O.

At the Titan's game last year there were hardly ANY Titans fans......very small amount where i was at.

Cant speak for the whole stadium but i saw more at Arrowhead(skinsfans) than Titans fans at FedEx

Heard an interesting interview on sports radio in providence yesterday with Scott Paioli. The Pats draft board is done and has been done for awhile. they pay zero attention to the scouting combine and scouting services. They only care about can the player play football, and can he play in our system, thats it.They rely on their own scouts and coaches and no one else only people who truly know thier system and what kind of player will fit.That is their system, along with the philospy that each position has a dollar value, in other words a ceiling. a center is only worth x guard y linebacker z... etc, the players are just employees (temps), they are all just temps and all are replaceable, therefore we will not pay above x for that position,. we are confident in the backup or the next guy we pick will play just as well or better for the money we are willing to pay at his position.That works when you win rings on a regular basis, players are willing short term to take less to win, ... but eventually they all want to get paid, Pats system is being tested.

Winning is the only system that will ultimately work. I think thats why the other owners hope we don't start to get it right, because if you think about it, our way potentialy is the best ie we have an owner that will pay sick money, we have a fanatical fan base, we play in a high profile city, we have a rich and storied history just.... add the winning

I'm torn between NC and KC barbecue. I grew up on Carolina sytle, but Mrs. etrod is from Omaha, a short (kind of) hop from KC and we have on occasion made a road trip down to just for the food. I can't delcare a winner. there.

Speaking of awesome BBQ, I recommend that anyone in the DC area make the trip down to Dixie Bones in Woodbridge.

Here's how we settle this: the Etrods swing by KC and bring some Gates to DC. Joe drives up from Raleigh with some NC Q. I'll make the call.

I believe it is the curse of bad management that has led to the situation in DC.

I'm pretty sure the Bullets team name had anything to do with them trading Ben Wallace for Ike Austin, Rashid for Rod "the alarm clock" Strickland or the host of other ridculous personel moves they made with Wes Unseld running the show.
They will be fine, they just had some bad luck this season.

Nor did it cause the Skins to pick up Jeff George, Bruce Smith and Prime Slime and ruin the chemistry of a team that looked like it had something going.

The jury's still out on the Nats. I kind of like the approach their taking, though.

Hey PD, calm down. I've been going to games since '82. At RFK we HAD to stand up because the front row in our section was blocked by the bench. They stood up, so every row after them stood up. I pay a small fortune for my SEAT. And I like to sit in it now that FedEx makes that possible. Are you one of the guys who thinks he's God's gift to fandom because you had 12 beers in the parking lot and therefore have the right to stand the entire game, blocking everybody's view? For what it's worth, I do stand when it's called for: an important defensive stand, a big play, you get the idea. But when the other team has the ball on 2nd and 2 at their own 38? Sit down. Try and act like you understand the game.

Jack Kent Cooke wasn't the nicest human being, but he knew how to run a pro sports franchise. Nothing's been the same since his passing. As smart as some say Snyder is, I'm amazed he hasn't tried to emulate The Squire.

Am I the only person in the country who doesn't believe this kid is only 19? I was married to a Nigerian and met many of them, there and here in the States, and I can't remember ever getting to know one who emmigrated here who used their real age on their passport and entry documents. They have invariably shaved a couple of years off of their age, and subsequently that of their children as well.

I just wondered because people always mention Freddy Adu's (I know he's not Nigerian) age with a wink and a nod, but never this kid.

Mike Diamond. You make a lot of assumptions in your reply. I never said I stand the whole time. And you assume I dont know the game. So read my post before you retort.

And I said the old person with the headphones (specfic person a few rows ahead of me, not all) never stands, which may be because he is old. But as you state, I stand when it is needed.

All I really ask is that I dont get stares because I stand or yell. Making me feel like I am doing something wrong. I dont stand the entire time, and I am always conscious of other sitting around me if they don't stand, because it would piss me off if the situation was reversed.

As a Skins, Orioles, Wizards, and Caps fan, what have I done to deserve this? Aside from that "blind squirrel finding his nut" for each team once or twice (okay, never for the O's), what have these teams really accomplished over the last decade?

We've got 3 super bowl trophies to disprove the curse of DC.

I think it's more of a curse on big name players coming to DC, which has resulted in poor performance by our teams.

In the interest of fairness and balance, I recommend this delicacy of the great plains: the sliders at Cozy Inn, Salina, KS. Get a dozen in a little bag and be on your way. That is some good, good stuff.

You gotta admit that even if a name change for the NBA team was 'justifiable' due to the local murder stats, the Caps and River Dogs going away from red-white-and-blue unis really sucked. Especially because the replacements were nothing special, IMO.

The Caps are righting this wrong for next season, returning to the red, white and blue. Can a return to annually breaking out hearts with thrilling annual playoff series defeats far behind? I think not. The Boulez would be wise to follow suit.

I'm with PDS. I don't stand the entire game... not even close. But to get the evil eye or "down in front" comment during a 3rd and long for the D OR a big play for the O, is flat out ridiculous. Frankly, those folks need to stay at home and watch the games in their recliners.

I just think it's funny because here we are complaining (me included) that the crowd noise at FedEx is about as loud as mass at the ol' Jericho Church, yet there are so many fans who literally get angry when some of us get excited during the game.

Well, I have never been to NC, but I'm from Omaha and I can say that the KC Q is excellent, it puts Chicago to shame, which is supposedly another well known BBQ location.

There's a little neighborhood Q place which just opened in North Portland, and it's doggone good, reminding me that you can get good Q anyplace that knows how to cook the meat (low and slow) and has good sauce. But for sheer concentration of places with high-quality Q, I'll take NC.

The first game I went to was a dallas/redskin game. I was six, so that would be in 1990 i believe. I remember we won 21-14 and there was only one dallas fan in my sight and he got booed out of the game. Thats when I knew this is my kind of team.

My first was a Monday Night game against the Indianapolis Colts at RFK. I remember being scared about the way the whole stadium seemed to sawy from side to side.

Unfortunately, I have never been to a game in DC, the only one that I have been able to go to was the game in Denver a couple years ago. There were LOTS of skins fans there, but that wasn't a surprise to me. It seems that there are skins fans every where, and its not too often that the fans in the midwest get a game that is relatively close, so when there is we invaid that stadium. Or at least the upper deck that I was setting in.

Exactly my point. If you want brisket or ribs or whatever, I'm sure KC is just fine. But it's just cooked meat covered with sauce, like any of us could do on our Weber grills. It's not BBQ. The real deal is in North Carolina.

Ok, I admit I jumped to a few assumptions, probably because of something I experienced at a couple of games this year. And because there's this one guy about 3 rows in front of me who insistst on standing virtually the entire game.

I jump up and yell and scream with the best of them. But I also enjoy sitting when it's time.

I was born at Sibley Hospital, but parents made the move to LA when i was 5. One thing we never stopped hearing about growing up on the left coast was our beloved Skins.

I am now 32 and have a 3 1/2 year old boy who yells touchdown when we score and bull poopoo when the other team scores(really says bull poopoo. hasn't learned the word Sh*t yet).

I just want my boy to be as rabid a fan as my father and i have been and too see the true nature of a Redskin fan... Loyalty, Grit, and Courage to face all forms of obstacles, i.e. difficult times, blitzing linebackers, whatever they may be.

Going back to when the ineptitutde began, i am surprised nobody mentioned the curse placed by a group of Indians during the Super Bowl versus Buffalo. We have sucked since then...

We started sucking in 1994ish. What happened? What was new? What was different? Republicans took Congress. We've sucked ever since. Especially since major power brokers were from Texas.

Notice for example that Soups was a starter around election time. Andre Carter started getting better around election time. Betts played exceptionally well around election time. We seemed to settle our kicker problems around election time. . . .

There are two problems LA fans have.

First problem is traffic. I've seen your so called "Beltway Traffic". Thats like Sunday morning traffic here. To get anywhere in LA you need at least 1 1/2 hours and thats just to go 10 miles.

Second problem is most of the people here are gang-bangers or worse gang-banger wannabees. That means they love the Raiders and always start a fight at Dodger games. And dont get me started on Laker championship rioting.

The real fans in LA stay away and watch the games from home or a bar. It safer than getting in a fight or car accident.

I wonder if that means that Springs is gone...certainly would make sense that he might have a little trade value. Its hard to say after his injuries.

Double Move gets thrusts into the #1 Spot since this is his 3rd year and GG has told him this is basically gonna be make or break buddy.

Smoot goes to his natural position of #2.

Macklin serves as #3.

The only way this guy decided to sign with us is if Gibbs 2.4 PROMISED playing time so he could get an even better contract elsewhere or with us next year. The guy wouldn't sign here if he wouldn't get any playing time, point blank.

In his six NFL seasons, David Macklin has appeared in 96 games and started 68. Macklin spent four years in Indianapolis before signing a free-agent contract with Arizona in 2004. He was released by the Cardinals in March, 2007. Macklin reached the 2004 AFC Championship Game with Colts, but the team lost to eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in that game. He scored his only NFL touchdown on a 60 yard interception return for the Cardinals in 2005.

College Career
Macklin was a three-year started at Penn State. He was selected an All-Big Ten player as a junior in 1998, the year when led the conference in interceptions with six. As a freshmen Macklin briefly played point guard for the Penn State basketball team, after the football season had ended.

Personal Information
Macklin attended Menchville High School in Newport News. He played football and basketball for Menchville. As a freshman he guarded Allen Iverson in a basketball game, a game which Iverson scored well-below his season average.

Macklin runs a foundation named 27 Reasons (27 is his college and professional number) which aids underprivileged kids in Arizona and Virginia.

I think that signing Macklin means we can probably say goodbye to Springs. He will probably be traded somewhere prior to the draft.

Bad news for you (and many others here) - There has been a Republican as President each time the Redskins have won the Super Bowl. That's right - Reagan, Reagan, Bush Sr. And Reagan and Nixon were in office when the Redskins made their other two Super Bowl appearances. So, Democrats in the House and Republicans in the White House seem to be the ticket.

The last time a Clinton was in the White House, the Redskins hired Norv.

The Redskins went south in 1993, which was Clinton's first year in office. Richie Petitbon led them to an awesome record of 4-12.

Didn't say it was a great idea Lisa but that is what I am reading from this pickup of Macklin. Your bias is obvious and great. From things I have been reading it sounds like Detroit likes Brady Quinn and he will likely be there at #6. This is definitely going to downgrade our CBs if this is what they are positioning to do. Calvin Johnson better turn out to be the can't miss WR prospect so many are making him out to be if we do in fact trade up for him. I have long been an advocate of only drafting defense or a guard with later picks.

I don't think signing Macklin means Springs is gone, necessarily. Macklin is talented, but has a history of injuries. He's not a guy to rely on.

Furthermore, he might have picked the Skins because they were the team willing to give him a one year contract. Talented CBs tend to command big bucks, but Macklin has to prove he can stay healthy and play at a high level. If he does that then he could cash in a year from now. Could be the other teams wanted to tie him up for two or three years.

The curse was put on us during the game? So the curse is that we would win the Super Bowl and utterly crush our opponent in that game, but then stink for most of the next 15 years? That's a sweet curse. I hope we get cursed like that this season, too.

There seems to be a lot of experienced but unemployed quarterbacks hanging around this year. It wouldn't be too difficult for the Raiders to grab one and draft Calvin Johnson.

I can't imagine that any team would try to trade up for Detroit's #2 pick until the Oakland pick is settled.

When you put a "curse" on someone or something, what makes the curse work is the belief by the people it is supposed to affect.

Good luck trying to find 5 Redskins players who even know the curse exists, much less believe in it. (Except for Carlos Rogers maybe, whose hands and feet seem to be cursed in tandem. Double-Move/Hands of Stone.)

Ok..the NFL Network (Adam Schefter) just reported that Calvin Johnson "quietly" visited the Raiders today and was rated an "11". They stated that if the Raiders pick Johnson it could spin the entire draft in a totally different direction.

Schefter also mentioned the Skins signing of Macklin. He said that Macklin turned down more lucrative offers because he is from the DC area and has always wanted to play for Joe Gibbs.

Just saw Scheffter on NFL Network. He says Macklin grew up in the DC area and has always rooted for the Skins and Joe Gibbs. He turned down better offers from the Chiefs and Eagles.

I don't see Springs going anywhere, not without getting another #1 CB. If it does happen then it would show that everything bad that anybody has said in here about the FO and off-season decision making was completely accurate. As people already posted he is a skins fan and it seems we got the benefit of that. He is not being paid like a top tier CB, so there is no reason to cut him. We were going to sign some CB for depth at probably around the same price. Just got lucky that we got a player like him for that amount of money.

The biggest question about Macklin or anybody who wants to join our secondary -- and I am certain Gibbs and Grilliams include this in their evaluation process -- is whether the dude can walk it out.

why do the old folks even bother coming to the game if they dont want to stand up and cheer. take a look at any other stadium in the league that has a reputation for being loud and having a substantial home field advantage. what do they have in common? rabid fans foaming at the mouth trying to disrupt the other teams offense. look at the colts, 80 % of the plays are called at the line of scrimmage. if you can be loud enough to make them use hand signals for audibles to the backs and wrs then you have an advantage. it limits the plays they can call and gives the d a chance to pick of the signals (see recent espn story). if you can make it loud enough so that the line cant hear then you really have them. watch when teams play at KC or denver. the tackle and guard have to hold hands so that the tackle knows when the ball is snapped. that is a true homefield advantage. i understand you dont want to stand for 3 hours but the team is actually only on the field on d for like 35 to 45 minutes of those 3 hours. you say you pay alot for your seats well if im in your way that means i paid as much if not more than you did so that is bs. if you dont want to support the team by making noise while on defense then sell your seats and watch from home. the reason why fedex sucks is because of the people who always yell "down in front". does anyone ever remember hearing that at rfk?

Amen STAND UP ON D! The folks who were lucky enough to get seats at RFK would never think of not yelling on defense. 3rd and long, second and 2, it didn't matter. We took pride in rocking those stands and our rep. as a rowdy stadium. Since the move to "The Cooker", people are more worried about their Smirnoff Ice not spilling than the game. Stand Up is right, if you don't want to support the team on defense then sell your seats to one of the 200,000 (is that really true?) on the waiting list who will.

Why are we the only team in the league who believes in shelling out mega deals to your #3-5 WR's, #3-5 CB's, etc? That's what the draft is for. And that's why we'll always be within $2 of the cap max every year and have to beg our players to restructure.

Until we sign Samuel I think we are doing it right. Macklin was vet min. Smoot was higher, but I think he will be #2. Rodgers is still in his rookie contract and Springs deal is good for his experience.

So # 1 - #3 are high, but you need 3 cb's this day and age. Until we get CJ, if we do, then our 1 - 3 wr are paid. You also need 3 good wr's. But after that? Patten is gone, Thrash is not highly paid.

If this Offseason stays to form, I would say we have learned. The fact we tried to get Briggs miff's me a little... but it has not happened.

But even the thought of Calvin Johnson infuriates me. Before you guys fly off the handle, hear me out. It's not about CJ, because I think he's going to be an incredible WR in this league, it's the fact that we'd have 4 WR's on our roster with 10+ mill signing bonuses. Moss, ARE, CJ, and Lloyd...

With a salary cap, you just can't put all of your eggs (pun intended, Easter) in one basket, especially on a team with 2 stud RB's, a coach who loves to run, and a QB with 7 starts.

Look at our Dline. Look at our depth in other areas. Doesn't it make you angry that the Skins are willing to spend 30/10 mill on a #4 WR on this kind of team? Even the most passing oriented teams don't pay their #3-4 WR's that much loot. Those teams actually draft guys and let them prove their worth at the #3-4 WR position under their rookie deals. We go out and sign a Lloyd and a Patten, when a 3rd or 4th rounder out of the draft would have been just as effective, and about 1/20th the cost.

Again, it's not CJ, it's the way we operate as a whole. It's honestly sickening to watch sometimes... okay most of the time.

This fan continued screaming at me, his friend had to hold him back, said he would kill me.... blah blah. I was pretty taken a back by his rection, only b/c of his friends reaction before him was so different.

Now they were close to 40. I was 22. But the best thing was when I turned around to go back to getting in line, There were three redskins fans behind me who decided to stand with me in that situation. Also, after it had calmed down a bunch of the fathers/ people around me thanked me and said that I did the right thing, and it was good to see someone stand up for things like that... etc.

I didn't really think I was doing something out of the ordinary. I would think that most people would do the same. Especially in THAT year, when all had gone on.

Oh well, pretty interesting. Luckily they have Metal detectors at stadiums b/c I believe that guy would have tried to do exactly what he said he would. I prolly should never go to Philly for an Eagles - Redskins game, cause I might get killed there!

Once again...I hear a lot of fans clamoring for a stud defensive lineman. We DO need defensive line help, but what makes you all think they will be so bad this year? We have a young solid player in Kedric Golston and Andre Carter in his second year. I would be in favor of the Skins trading down for a low first rounder and a third rounder to pick up D-Lineman. If they can get Calvin Johnson...I say go get him. He's a special player. We can pick up D-Lineman in the later rounds, a la Kedric Golston (6th Round).

I want to know what is going on with the scouting dept. We heard they all might get canned? I wonder if that was just a fleeting report.

It also makes me wonder if they did their homework on the draft so we can find another late round player. I think that Golston was a good find. I want to see Montgomery get some more playing time. I agree that Carter will finish his comeback and play well this year. If Griff is healed, and Daniels can get some relief, then we could be okay without a first round stud. I also always worry about DL busts. I do beleive they are high in the bust category.

So yes, our D line should be okay. But we need to blitz. Grilliams did not have much D-line pass rush 3 years agoi when our D was 3rd, but he blitzed from all angles and confused the protection. Otherwise our Db's will get burned all day long.

Yeah, I worry about the other idiots more than I worry about me and my friends. We may enjoy some verbal debates, but we would never let it turn physical. Obviously that is not the case with a lot of people out there.

Ah, we agree... somewhat. The fact that they had 19 sacks as a defensive unit last year, and are all a year older makes me think that they may not be much better next year. We have two young guys (1 starter) on the line and the rest average somewhere around retirement. This unit, more than any other on the team, needs help... especially after the David Macklin signing.

You named two players out of four starting positions. That's not good. I too believe that AC will be much improved this year, but it is yet to be proven. We can't bank in it because other than a game or two, he was pretty miserable last year. And Kedric is great, but he's one of two DT's on the field at a time, and you really need at least three decent DT's to rotate. Corn is very good, but struggling to stay healthy. Saliva is a solid fill-in at best, and Anthony Montgomery is still young and rough around the edges. Our other DE spot is a HUGE question with two senior citizens rotating in over there.

Very true, but we cannot afford him, nor should we. There is a special player in almost every year's draft. We've screwed the pooch too many times (in free agency) to be able to trade up again and again and pay out huge rookie contracts at the expense of depth. Think about the number of draft picks that we have tied up in single players... and then think about how many of them have been almost useless to date: McIntosh has great potential, but has been a special teamer and situational player to date: two second rounders, bLloyd couldn't catch a bus at a bus stop: a second rounder and exorbitant amounts of money, TJ Duckett: a third rounder AND he's not even on our team, etc.

Doesn't happen every time, and very hard to predict that we can get someone like that. Reference Montgomery, Anthony. Still a project, and picked a round ahead of Golston.

Because the Skins Front Office stinks at making deals. We MAKE them for whoever we trade with by not playing hardball. Lance Briggs!?! We have two WLBs on the roster... Calvin Johnson!?! We have one pick in the first five rounds of the draft, and something like 30-40mil in signing bonuses tied up in our WR corps already.

And we're supposed to be a run-first team!?!

Anyhoo, I would say that Buck's breakdown above is spot on. The Mole (farther up) said something about the matchup problems our putative dime secondary would pose to the offense... but that won't amount to much if the QB can hang out in the pocket indefinitely, waiting for something to develop downfield. It's the matchup problem our D line faces that is the one big problem yet to address.

We need D line help so we can stop the doggone run AND collapse the pocket. Our guys last year were not good enough. One or two more solid pieces in the rotation and we'll be much better off.

Definitely voting NO on blowing up our plan for Calvin Johnson. That is not a position of primary need at the moment and we should be dedicating our meager draft picks and remaining cap space to D line, in my opinion. And we better not be thinking about a game of chicken where we trade UP and then expect to trade DOWN, that's too fraught with risk. And we better keep our 2008 draft picks in a lock box, durn burn it.

There was a coach in my middle school and high school who I'm almost sure was named Calvin Johnson. He was a gigantic dude, really massive, and the rumor was he had a short NFL stint as a lineman, maybe with the Iggles. This guy was tall but really overweight and a smoker, as I recall. (Terrific role model for the kids in gym class, no? Eh, it was a small town in Arkansas, they were probably happy to have him.)

Anyway one time Coach Johnson good-naturedly challenged the fastest kid in our class to a race -- this kid was really fast -- and absolutely smoked him in a sprint. Incredible to see.

If the skins stay pat at #6 and pick d-line or are able to trade down and pick d-line. Our defense should become solid again. We should be a playoff team.

We would give up to much to trade up and get cj. Plus he will be expensive. Who knows mcintosh could be the next lance briggs and is several years younger. We already gave up alot to get mcintosh it only makes since to play this kid and see what he can do instead of bailing out on him.

Just don't see any logic in Calvin Johnson. Especially since the roster already has, moss, ARE, lloyd, thrash and probably some that I am forgetting-What is the point.

Back to the real subject at hand: Draft day is going to be nuts.

If the Redskins try and trade for Samuel, then I would say that Springs is probably gone. But who knows.

The Briggs deal is starting to make more sense to me. I know I'm in the minority here on this. But I'm thinking about stopping the run. Having LF in the middle helps, but he may not be the complete answer. Briggs would give us 5 starting caliber LBs - three pro-bowl caliber. Might be the best LB corp in the NFC. We'd have depth, and you know GW likes to rotate players. And we can bring Rocky along more slowly - wouldn't have to force him in there. And Marcus has a hip injury; when is that not a cause for concern? Then we can take a DLman at 31. It may be they think there'll be someone they really like at 31.

I don't know why everyone is so down on Johnson. If i learned anything with picking up Bruce Smith, Andre Carter, Deion Sanders and Lloyd it's that you go out and pay too much for people and ignore present needs at less flashy positions.

I mean the Patriots, Steeler and Colts don't do that and you see where it got them.

I am a little confused. Lloyd is at the same position as Johnson. So what is the need/less flashy position with Johnson.

More to the point b/c we still have Lloyd, we should not go after Johnson and have 10mil+ wrapped up in bonuses for the 1 through 4 WR on our team.

Get rid of Lloyd, which is a cap hit and a half, then get Johnson. But as many have stated, the cap hit for releasing or trading Lloyd, plus the bonus for Johnson would kill our cap for years to come.

You don't stop the run at the LBs. They are 5-10 yards off the line of scrimmage. The D-line should be stopping the run, with LB support. Besides, Rocky's biggest (reported) asset when we drafted him was his ability to stop the run. Good thing he never started.

Fact: in Rocky's one start (against STL) he had more tackles than Warrick had in any single game the whole year (10-7).

Johnson is not a need. Besides, this is a run heavy offense that we use. We don't even get S. Moss or ARE enough touches per game. We are fine at WR. Defensive line is our primary need, and we should draft a DT or DE at #6, period.

I love the signing of David Macklin (CB), this guy is a player. We might actually have some heated competition for the starting CB spots.

If your cornerbacks are good enough to cover man-to-man you can load up the box and stop the run. Just about any NFL team can stop the run when they commit to it. Our problem last year was that we couldn't stop the pass, so it was to risky to commit to stopping the run, because then they would throw 80 yd TD passes. Suring up our CB position will indirectly help us stop the run.

this should set in stone the focus of the redskins draft is the d line, as it should be. The redskins have a history shying away from drafting d lineman on the first day ever since bobby wilson, especially Defensive ends.

The Washington Redskins signed veteran cornerback David Macklin yesterday, adding depth to a cornerback position that was victimized last season. After trading safety Adam Archuleta and releasing cornerback Mike Rumph, Macklin is the first defensive back the Redskins have added this offseason.

Macklin, 28, began his career with the Indianapolis Colts after being selected out of Penn State in the third round of the 2000 draft. He spent the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and has long been eyed this offseason by the Redskins' coaches to challenge cornerback Ade Jimoh.

You want to upgrade your LB's? Let them run run free without having to shed blockers. It's not a coincidence that the Pro Bowl LB's of the Bears stand behind the Pro Bowl DLman.

I doubt seriously that even if we wanted Calvin Johnson that we would be able to draft him. The Raiders are already looking at acquiring McCown(sp?) from Detroit... I think CJ will go in the #1 or #2. We would have to get the #1 or #2 to have a shot. I don't see it happening. Especially since the Bucs at #4 want him. They would probably be able to trade up before we could.
