I'm Calling the TE Here
Why not take Patrick here, the kid from Delaware? Seems like a good idea here. Don't have any inside info yet, but seems logical.

THAT WAS THE STUPIDEST PICK! a QB?
Posted by: Go Skins Go | April 29, 2007 4:00 PM
A QB? I hope Mark May rips the Skins again.
Posted by: Colin | April 29, 2007 4:00 PM
Jordan Palmer? Watch out Todd Collins
Posted by: Mike | April 29, 2007 4:00 PM
They went QB - the media (Mark May) will eat them alive....

????????????? who is making these picks
Posted by: 35332 | April 29, 2007 4:01 PM

QB from UTEP? Seriously? Vinny, you genius!!!!!
Posted by: Anonymous | April 29, 2007 4:02 PM
What are they doing? QB could have waited another year.
Posted by: ENX | April 29, 2007 4:02 PM
Jason- or someone- ANYONE- can you please explain to me the logic of QB from UTEP?! Draft board rankings are one thing- but in the 6th round?! No consideration for Oline depth?
Posted by: D7 | April 29, 2007 4:03 PM
Do we even have a FO? I don't seem to understand any of their moves during this years draft?
Posted by: Redskin Born | April 29, 2007 4:04 PM
yeah, but if you wait a year to draft a rookie and Brunell and Collins retire (like they do in Madden 07) you'll need to teach the system to a FA QB as well as a rookie. we could've used some help on the OL and DL, but this isn't a bad pick IMHO.
Posted by: [cc] | April 29, 2007 4:04 PM
I think Todd Collins wants out. So maybe they are just getting ready. But having said that, it makes no sense.
Posted by: skinsrule | April 29, 2007 4:04 PM
This team will never be any good and will never make good personnel moves so long as Snyder is the owner and Vinny is running the FO.
Posted by: Colin | April 29, 2007 4:05 PM
I hope they take the TE with the next pick or get the Guard from Auburn
Posted by: skinsrule | April 29, 2007 4:06 PM
Well, this just proves to me that Gibbs and the FO do not value the draft. Plain and simple, they know these players will not help them much during Gibbs' tenure, but they can cut or trade Collins, save $$ and have someone new carry a clipboard.

Redskins just drafted Patrick Ramsey - Part Deux.
His hallmarks: Bad decision making, heavy feet - 2nd highest collegiate interceptions in past 20 year history.
The Redskins don't need draft picks - they need a new front office and scouting organization. (Check out the LB who was drafted by B-more right after this terrible picl.)

in the good old days these late round QB picks had a way of working out ok (Stan Humphries, Gus Frerotte, Trent Green)but now I think we have too many needs and too few picks... unless he becomes like Carson...
Posted by: beat cal | April 29, 2007 4:07 PM
Either Todd Collins isn't coming back, or this ties the T.J. Duckett trade for the worst blunder of Joe Gibbs's career.
We need offensive linemen, defensive linemen and a punter! And now we only have one pick left...

Better to take the sibling of a pro bowl QB in the 6th round pick 205. Versus 1/1 i.e. Eli.
Posted by: skinsrule | April 29, 2007 4:08 PM
by the way... zero picks on the D-Line?? Wow. Are we going to trade all of next year's draft for someone, like simeon rice?
Posted by: beat cal | April 29, 2007 4:09 PM
SI.com doesn't speak too kindly of Jordan Palmer. Read here:

Sounds like Patrick Ramsey redux.

I don't disagree with the pick. Who do the skins have at QB depth??? Brunnell and Collins are gone after this year, this gives the kid a year to learn the system. Obviously they are going to address the DL needs some other way. There are no backups available out there, why not take the kid from UTEP??
Posted by: monkalicious | April 29, 2007 4:10 PM
Jaws likes him.
Posted by: Skins fan stuck in Philly | April 29, 2007 4:10 PM
I think T Collin should be cut after that poor performance last year. A young QB sounds good, but did we not think this guy would have been drafted? We could've picked him up as an undrafted free agent. OL or DE is no longer a need in their eyes.
Posted by: Redskin Born | April 29, 2007 4:13 PM
long time blog lurker, first time poster
at this time, how do we think the this confusing crazy team is going to address their real needs at DL? anyway to do this without giving up all of next years picks? i need answers :(

This is Gibbs pick. A QB. I knew he would pick at least one in this draft. These lower rounds are where the Redskins found a few of their better QBs. Certainly Gibbs would prefer to draft higher.
Yes they need another QB in the mix. Would you like to rely exclusively on Brunell? Bramlett? Todd Collins? If Campbell goes down? Gibbs like to keep at least 2-3 training for obvious reasons. Harder today than it was when they could keep virtually any player they wanted cached on the taxi squad.
Who is control was the question posed by the WaPo in an article posted today. The obvious answer is Snyder, Gibbs, and to a lesser extent Cerrato. With Gibbs getting more and more control. That seems evident after the conservative approach to free agency. Overcoming Snyder's instincts to land Lance Briggs and give up picks. The fact that they STILL HAVE most of their picks next year.
What happens if and when Gibbs leaves? Another question posed by the WaPo. All you nay sayers criticizing this draft should be breathing a sigh of relief. Especially that slacker "left tackle" prognosticator wearing a Redskins superbowl ring. Mark May. The first round choice beaten out by a free agent post-draft pickup named Joe Jacoby.
If they go back to Snyder and Cerrato what do you think would happen? As it is Gibbs struggles with Snyder and Cerrato for us fan's sake have probably been above and beyond the call of duty. When he leaves so do the Redskins until Snyder sells the team.

I have no problem with drafting a back up quaterback for the future, but this guy was projected as mid 7th round pick. Considering that we were had another pick at the top of the 7th, we took him a round too early (i.e., in the 6th round).

Wow, not one d-lineman drafted.
Mmmm, mmm, mmm....
Jason, do you know if they have any idea...err...plans on how they intend to improve thier d-line?
A trade maybe?
That's the only logical thing I can possibly see by drafting a safety first is they have something planned for Taylor.
This could possibly go down as the 'Skins worst draft ever.

Any chance they'll sign Geoffrey Pope from Howard now that the draft is over?
Posted by: Geoff Pope | April 30, 2007 4:47 PM
last comment was from me, not Pope.
