Redskins Insider, by Jason La Canfora Redskins Insider

Now It Gets Interesting, Maybe

Everyone becially knew the QB was going 1st and the WR 2nd (a trade of CJ to TB still could go down), but the Browns have been something of a wildcard. They could use Quinn, Peterson or Thomas.

NFL Network reported that Thomas would be the pick, but we'll see. If it is Thomas, TB might end up going defense with Adams - which could facilitate the Lions trade - or perhaps Levi Brown (though it might be high for him). Arizona could go a couple of different ways depending who is on the board as well (Peterson or Brown would make sense). Just heard from another good source that it looks like Thomas is the pick for Cleveland.

But if Quinn does not go here it could definitely work in Washington's favor.

As for the Skins pick, they have given some pretty good indications to Landry that he is the guy, and we know he is the top rated D player this have, but there is still a chance they deviate from that based a bit on need. I have heard people close to Landry have a "good idea" he's the pick but aren't willing to take it to the bank yet, especially if Quinn slips and other options open for the Skins.

I can't keep up Jason

Posted by: Dorf | April 28, 2007 12:40 PM

I am hoping its Joe Thomas. I just heard that Mike Williams is traded so Calvin is staying (per NFL Network). That makes things interesting.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:40 PM

They're not showing Brady Quinn, Medicine Woman on his cell phone yet. That's a good sign. Smug punk.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:41 PM

mike williams traded?

Posted by: dea.er | April 28, 2007 12:41 PM

I still remember the Redskins fans drunk and pi**ed we didn't take Mike Williams

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:42 PM

That makes it intersting. Man that helps us a ton.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:42 PM

Whoohoo!! We might just get a trade down for some picks yet!

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:42 PM

Way to go, Cleveland!!!!!

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:42 PM

Brady Quinn remindes me of that punk kid that needs to get hi a** wupped

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope brady quinn is still there at 6. that'll be sure to get some trade offers...

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

Thomas, I think that's good for us, we could be left with Quinn AND Peterson on the board!

By the way SMACK, don't know if you're interested but Milan leads 1-0

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

You guys loving that or what?

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

dealer,

Williams hasn't been traded yet, but on the NFL Network they were talking about the Lions trying to work a deal w/ the Titans.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

This is shaping up nice for us. I want to see Quinn in tears.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM

i think that's a guarantee that quinn falls to 6 right?

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:44 PM

an OT knocking a CB down should NEVER be a highlight!

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:44 PM

Thansk kost, some great action in the EPL today. My beloved Arsenal could beat Chelsea next week and hand the title to Man U.

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:45 PM

I wouldn't trade for Mike WIlliams - just wait for Detroit to cut him.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:45 PM

interesting indeed

i'm glad to see i'm not the only one who dislikes brady quinn

where'd mike williams go?

Posted by: pack4life | April 28, 2007 12:45 PM

wait, does Quinn have a hot girlfriend?? we may need to pick him up for the obligatory "cut to the back up QB's hot woman in between snaps" game film.

Posted by: Dorf | April 28, 2007 12:46 PM

SMACK - Nice work! I'm a Gunners fan too!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:46 PM

Mayock just said about Thomas, "Sometimes he gets too high."

Guess he'll fit right into the NFL then.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:46 PM

TB is stupid. Picking a QB? don't they have like 5 QB's?

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:47 PM

Since we play TB every year let them be stupid and pick up another QB. Only way Quinn should go before 6 is by trade.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:48 PM

Ocho-Ocho - Too bad for him, Ruben Droughns isn't on the team anymore.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:49 PM

Oh Baby! Looks like my Jamaal Anderson dreams could become a reality!!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:49 PM

If we trade back, depending on how far back, I think we go for Carriker.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:50 PM

kost52 - keep those wet dreams to yourself.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:51 PM

Easy there, Kost. The Bears potential trade is still out there. Trade down possibilities are still out there.

Breathe in, Breathe out. : )

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:51 PM

It's the blogs fault I tell you!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:52 PM

Gaines Adams!!!

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:52 PM

Um, Steve Young has had his brows waxed.

Posted by: Cindy | April 28, 2007 12:53 PM

Kost,

Who got the goal? Kaka?

Posted by: bangkokben | April 28, 2007 12:53 PM

Have we had a shot of Brady Quinn crying yet?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:53 PM

Gaines Adam's rockin' the 90's racing stripes on the side of his head. Holy Deon Sanders Batman

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:53 PM

Brady Quinn, Medicine Woman still sits! I'm lovin' it! The only thing that could ruin my mood would be for our FO to be something extra stupid.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:53 PM

Way to go, Tampa Bay!

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:54 PM

Good for us. He looks like he wants to throw up.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

Adam's looks like a WR, defintely not a pick for the Redskins

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

Since Joe Thomas and Adams are gone, I can see a trade out here by Arizona.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

cindy, i said that in the last post. he should've stayed home for a month or so. it looks nasty.

thanks me!

woohooooooooo brady's still there!

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

Adams gone. Now TTTTRRRAAAAAAADDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEe DOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Posted by: D7 | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

I'm so happy they didn't get CJ and had to settle on Adams who is a 3rd down pass specialist

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

looks like Quinn and Peterson will be there at 6. if we don't trade down i'll be amazed...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:55 PM

i could see the chicago trade happening so that they can get quinn... personally i would rather us accumulate more picks... then get briggs... we have plenty of talent at lb right now

Posted by: dante | April 28, 2007 12:56 PM

No it was one of my Dutch boys! Clarence Seedorf!!! Oranje!!

The Cards couldn't take AP could they? It's have to be Levi Brown yeah?

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:56 PM

I read that Arizona wants that OT from Penn State. Maybe they trade down and screw things up for us?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:56 PM

I think we should ask for extra picks from the Bears

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:57 PM

Somebody *has* to want to get ahead of the Vikes for one of those guys. I'd be shocked if they didn't.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:57 PM

You'd think anyone wanting to trade up for Quinn, would deal with us rather than Arizona yeah? Cost more to move up to 5 than to 6??

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:57 PM

They could also go after Laron Landry to go along side of Adrian Wilson.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:58 PM

I wonder if Atlanta is trying to move up to snatch Laron Landry.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:59 PM

Come on Dolphins! Save us from ourselves!!!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 1:05 PM

kost, you're scaring me. Both my parents are from Schiedam! Did you start following Arsenal because of Bergkamp and Overmars? Amazing.

Levi Brown. Okay. Maybe Peterson will fall to 22.

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 1:05 PM

Laron Laundry is the pick here even though we need D-Line. No one will trade with us because if you can't rip the Skins off its not worth it

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 1:05 PM

So it all comes down to this.

"Winners want the phone!"

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 1:06 PM

F U Berman!

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 1:06 PM

Spurrier evaluating talent? Now THAT is funny!!!

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 1:11 PM

How awesome would it be for Quinn to drop to round two. He's so smug.

Posted by: bangkokben | April 28, 2007 1:11 PM

Awesome, kost. I almost feel bad wishing malice on your pick here. But I gotta say Seedorf has broken my heart a few too many times.

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 1:11 PM

Dorf - I know what you mean, this is the first time I've actually felt like a hamster!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 1:11 PM

John Clayton just reported on ESPN radio that Dan Snyder actually thinks Tedd Ginn Jr is the surprise pick here!

say it ain't so!

Todd McShay just said the value is to pick Landry!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | April 28, 2007 1:13 PM

4 more minutes of butterflies...

ohhh shti!!!!!! laron's on the phone!

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 1:14 PM

Man, Deion is a great interviewer.

Landry is our pick.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 1:14 PM

Landry?!?!?!?!?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 1:14 PM

LaRon's agent is doing his millions o' dollars dance

Posted by: mjwies11 | April 28, 2007 1:14 PM

Clayton says they should select Landry
but are trying to entice a deal, but their phones have been dead this morning.

FO has ruined our day.
This is all there is going to be one selection and then go home, according to Clayton.

Posted by: Redskin Ray | April 28, 2007 1:15 PM

(whistling thru the graveyard)

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 1:15 PM

They're slamming your pick. The Skins do get it rough in the media. So you guys gonna keep watching?

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 1:15 PM

I'll take the bionic man!!!

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 1:15 PM

i'm not upset with the pick, but who the hell is gonna be up front on D?

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 1:16 PM

Ray - I think the problem is that too many prospects dropped.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 1:16 PM

Where is Bobby Beathard when we need him?
Trade Down!

Posted by: redskin Ray | April 28, 2007 1:17 PM

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 1:18 PM

After all of that, I'm a little disappointed we didn't/couldn't get a trade done. I think it's time for me to go to bed folks.

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 1:19 PM

Goodbye 2008 picks . . . no way we finish Day #1 without a DE.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 1:19 PM

Well I hope our blitz is very good at getting to the QB because our front 4 still blows.

Only have to wait for about 140 more picks for our next selection.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 1:20 PM

Sleep well, Kost.

New posts from Jason.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 1:20 PM

Teki Barber just came out of retirement. Two games against the Skins means 400+ yards gained.

Posted by: Larry | April 28, 2007 1:21 PM

Landry interview coming up on ESPN

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 1:21 PM

Definitely made the call there, AMTTS and Gov - as much as I'm wincing at this moment, you guys were right.

Now we really have to hope for a good fat defensive line apple to drop to the ground during the post-draft free agency, or work out a trade, unless we find the diamond in the rough in the later rounds.

Posted by: FlimFlam | April 28, 2007 1:22 PM

I'm out.

Posted by: Dorf | April 28, 2007 1:22 PM

NFC running backs are ecstatic!
Another year of two games against the Redksin aging, weak DL!!

Couldn't trade down at all?
Unbelievable!!!

I'm bummed out; I'm leaving here
No more reading, no more posting all day!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | April 28, 2007 1:23 PM

LANDO! I Love it!

Posted by: JonTPK126 | April 28, 2007 1:25 PM

Landry runs a 4.35 and hits like a truck. All the DLINE has to do is what it did last year, keep bodies off the LBS and Blitzers.

If the DL is healthy, and Father Times gives Daniels and/or Wynn another year, it's done.

As an opponents OC you have to:

1. Talk your quivering receivers into going ov er the middle

2. FIgure how to block blitzers Taylor, Landry, McIntosh, Washington a CB and sometimes Fletcher.

And yes they'll pay for a hamburger Tuesday for one they'll eat today. Another 1st day pick to come.
