So Far ... Nothing

Pretty quiet out here. Could still pull off a trade - even the Briggs trade - but will probably come down to the wire on the clock. Should the Browns take Joe Thomas as NFL Network is reporting, then the Skins might be sitting pretty and really be able to swing a trade down with a team like Miami that wants a young QB.

Just to clarify, the Bears have been asking for draft picks besides the 6th overall. The Rocky part of this died a while back and this Lemar Marshall business is dubious at best. The Skins are worried about their LB depth, with Marcus's hip injury a concern and Rocky's knee a worry as well. Lemar and Khary Campbell are pretty it when it coems to LB depth, so to trade Lemar now - who has more value to the Redskisn than he would in a trade or to any other franchise coming off the season he had - would be tough.

Furthermore, the Bears don't like Lemar from everything I have heard, look at him as a special teams guy and figure they can do better than him in this draft in a mid round. So, why would a certain network start throwing Lemar's name around ... hmmm, well they are kind of in bed with Drew Rosenhaus and guess who recently adding Marshall to his stable of clients that already includes Briggs.

You follow?

I have heard Lemar is not pleased at all about how this offseason has transpired, about Fletcher being signed to take his job and likely staring at spot duty and teams duty. A trade migth be the best thing for him personally - and rightfully so - so his agent gets his name out there in the national media, floats some stuff and maybe, just maybe, puts a little heat on the Skins.

In the end it probably amounts to nothing - although's Lemar's state of mind bears some monitoring - and maybe they do end up trading Lemar should the Skins acquire ample LB depth, but to make it out that Lemar is the lynchpin to a potential blockbuster trade is disingenuis at best.

Anyway, we'll see what happens and let the good times roll. Also, Cyn Cyty called me at 8:30 this morning to tell me we hit 50,000. Flipping unbelievable. You guys are out of control. Amazing. I'm not worhty.

First?

Burned by new post...from last thread.

Christmas in April baby! I want some shiny new players! You kids ready for this?

Okay I think I've had enough coffee. I'm totally Jack Russelling over this draft. Time to switch to beer.

Just in a short while all the speculation will end.

If Gaines Adams is available at #6, maybe the Bears would pull the trigger on the Briggs trade then. [I remember some Chicago SKins fan talking about Ogunleye being the next up for disgruntlement, so maybe we could get in on some of that action.] If they do do the Briggs thing, how do they still afford Marcus?

Cyn Cyty, not sure whether you checked, but there was a little 50K parade last night around 11:08pm. It was a closely monitored event.

From last thread -

Well I hope the Skins trade down with Miami, and we pick up J.Anderson. But think we'll take Okoye.

SMACK- Being a Cowboys fan, who do you think we'll take? Who do you think Dallas will take? Who do you want Dallas to take?

No Briggs please! If Quinn drops down we will be in perfect situation for a trade

Posted by: mike | April 28, 2007 11:42 AM

Landry at 6, Briggs for next year #1, next years # 2 for Kris Jenkins. Defense gets some playmakers and returns to form.

Posted by: SKINSRULE | April 28, 2007 11:43 AM

have the skins gotten through contract details or a physical with briggs? If not don't see how they could risk trading for him and then having a contract issue (of course, since when has the Danny ever said no to a big deal). I just want the briggs talk to go away. Trade to 8 or 9, pick up a #2. Maybe trade down again. Get a d-lineman.

Jason,

Any last minute predictions on what the 'Skins will do. Stay with the 6 pick and take Landry or Okoye? I guess it also depends on who gets picked in front of them.

kost52 I'm rooting for your scenario to trade down and get Anderson. The fact that he was wearing an airbrushed t-shirt that said "Gangsta" on it yesterday on Rome is Burning was great. Maybe he's trying to show that he's mean enough to play in the NFL.

kost, I think you guys end up with Okoye. I'd rather you went with Gaines Adams. Heck, I'd rather you went with Kyle Wright, QB, Miami Hurricanes.

There's not really a bad pick for Dallas, except maybe LB. I really want a stud receiver, so if anyone falls, we can trade out of that 22 and still maybe get a Jarrett, Bowe, Meacham, Ginn. I see the Post is predicting T Staley, Central Mich. Good pick, but so BORING! We also need a reasonable QB, maybe early tomorrow. Secondary help is welcome, as is a pass rusher. We're in a pretty good spot I think.

And I want Julius Jones gone!

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 11:51 AM

I hated reading that, used to like Lemar Marshall. He can't go into camp and compete with RockyMac to be the starter at WLB? If he is the better player he will be on the field. It is obvious that he plays hard but is too small to man the middle.

Let's hope that Peterson and Quinn are both on the board at 6. Let the phone start ringing in our attempt to move down and get a bunch more picks.

Smack - what's with the Julius Jones hate? I think Barber is a tougher runner and should get most of the carries but that is a pretty decent 1-2 combo. Although it can't compare to Portis-Betts.

I hope the Cowboys draft Ginn. Who hurts their foot celebrating a TD on the 1st play of the national champ game? He'd fit in well on that overrated team.

Terrible pick, now we have 2 guys at safety who can't cover and just like to hit. Awful.
