Waiting...Waiting...

The schedule should be out around 1...I'll post a new entry as fast as my fat little fingers can type and the good people http://www.grudge-match.com/Images/keebler.gifat Loseable Type allow it to go live.
Meanwhile, Maske is standing by at Redskins Park and monitoring JaMarcus Russell's visit. Here's some of what he's posted on his blog:

LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell is visiting the Washington Redskins today as part of the pre-draft evaluation process. Russell is a leading candidate to be taken by the Oakland Raiders with the top overall selection in the draft. The Redskins have the sixth choice and already have a young former first-round draft pick, Jason Campbell, as their starter at quarterback. But NFL teams generally meet with as many draft prospects as they can, and club officials say their meeting with Russell is nothing more than making sure they do all their homework.
The Redskins did not plan to make Russell available to media members during his visit. Campbell stopped by Redskins Park late this morning and said he wasn't offended by the team scheduling Russell's visit.
"It's a process everyone has to go through," Campbell said. "I had to go through it when I was coming out.... It doesn't mean anything by it."

The Redskins opener is at Fedex on Sept 9th vs. the Miami Dolphins.

I got some scoop for you, JLC. You're right, the Russell visit is just due dilegence. But the Redskins are interested in a qb, and his name is Brady Quinn.

Days ago I talked to a friend who is very close with Charlie Weiss. He told me the Skins have shown real interest in Quinn, talked to Weiss about him and in depth, and told Quinn they will definitely take him at number six if he is there. The FO simply isn't as sold on Campbell as they say, my friend told me.

Now, I love Campbell and didn't want to believe my friend. Maybe he was exaggerating, I thought. And then I'm listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they have Quinn on. They asked him what teams have shown the most interest in him. His answer was the Browns and the Redskins.

Jesus. If the Raiders take CJ and Browns take Russell, look for the Skins to take Quinn and the Redskins nation to go crazy.

You need to start sniffing around this story, JLC. Because sadly, I think it's going to prove true.

Insider,

yeah the Skins are interested in Quinn... as trade bait. You really think they would draft quinn? honestly? We want to have Miami leap-frog the vikings, so that we can load up on an extra pick or two.

Posted by: Inigo Montoya | April 11, 2007 12:18 PM

I hope you're right. I brought up the same point to my friend and he told me nope, the Skins want Quinn and told him so.

Posted by: Insider | April 11, 2007 12:19 PM

Drafting Quinn might not be a bad idea. QB is the most important possition on a team, and Cambell, as much potential as he has, is not proven. That way we have two good prospects for a franchise QB (which we haven't had since....?), and can trade whoever doesn't work out the best next year.

The downside is that the D-line gets no help this year from our #6, but we can trade into that next year. Bad news for 2007, but it could save our bacon if Cambell goes the way of Ramsey.

Personally, I think Jamal Anderson is the way to go if we end up picking at 6

I'm tired of this non-news news. Why the F*ck is Russel the only mutaf*cking athelete ya'll talk about. We AINT DOIG SH*T with him. We are inviting over 20 athletes, but no one talks about them.

Stop hyping NOTHING into something. I thought I was on a news paper's wesite. Where is the integrity? You guys, including Wilbon and Tony and JLC seem like sell outs to me.......

Posted by: ES | April 11, 2007 12:27 PM

Red Saucce - Wake the F*ck up and watch college games sometimes. Brady Quinn sucks, plain and simple.

All you have to do is watch the Michigan, MSU, USC, or the LSU Bowl game to know that.....

Posted by: ES | April 11, 2007 12:29 PM

Quinn has bust written all over him.

And I'm pretty sure we'll take him at six.

Posted by: Andrew | April 11, 2007 12:31 PM

I hope you're right. I brought up the same point to my friend and he told me nope, the Skins want Quinn and told him so.

Posted by: Insider | April 11, 2007 12:19 PM

The cowboys told Joey Porter that they wanted to draft him and guess what? until this year he was a Steeler.

Posted by: Anonymous | April 11, 2007 12:31 PM

Ok, the above post is right. We play the Dolphins the 1st game of the year. I like it......

Posted by: ES | April 11, 2007 12:32 PM

College football blows. Might as well watch the NBA.

But you're right: if he sucks, we obviously shouldn't draft him. I guess we'll see in a few years how good he is...

Posted by: RedSauce | April 11, 2007 12:32 PM

that was my no name post

Posted by: Inigo Montoya | April 11, 2007 12:33 PM

If we draft Quinn, I am done with this team.

Posted by: Lisa | April 11, 2007 12:36 PM

I've seen Quinn play a number of times. I'd be delighted to have him on the team. Campbell is the answer for now, but Quinn has all the intangibles. Would not be bummed at all.

Posted by: Zap | April 11, 2007 12:39 PM

I can see it now. We'll draft Quinn at six, Campbell will go crazy behind the scenes and demand a trade. Nice guy Joe will accomodate him, giving him away for a late round pick. And then, drumroll please, super smart Mark Brunell is the starter again while Quinn learns the ropes on the bench for two years.

Posted by: Andrew | April 11, 2007 12:40 PM

If you are entertaining the idea that Quinn is going to be drafted by the Redskins then please follow this three step process:
1. Step away from the computer
2. Splash cold water on your face
3. Realize that all is well with the world and the Skins FO is not really trying to make meet your maker early.

Posted by: Inigo Montoya | April 11, 2007 12:46 PM

The Skins are promising to draft Quinn at #6?

Someone honestly just compared college football to the NBA?

When did this place turn into a Crack Smoker's Lounge?

Posted by: Bucktown Skins Fan | April 11, 2007 12:47 PM

Brady Quinn? I cant get behind that. Cambell doesnt need the extra pressure of having to look over his shoudler at who may take his place if he has a string of bad starts. I mean Campbell only had 5 starts to show what he was made of and seemed to be making progress.

I too think Brady will be the next Joey Harrington. We should have grabbed Matt Lienart if we needed a QB. That way our recievers wouldnt have had to adjust from left handed passes to right handed ones (and it is different).

my two cents, For goddness sake plesase trade down or draft D-Fense!!

Posted by: KCskinfan | April 11, 2007 12:47 PM

Quinn has all the intangibles? Um, no. Dude looked rattled in EVERY BIG GAME. JC is the one with intangibles.

A little harsh on Cindy, CindyStinks...Relax...
I would really suspect that this is non-news, but Fat Len Pasquarelli tried to stir the pot a couple of weeks ago, with a similar story with even fewer facts and more completely biased speculation. I HATE Fat Len.

Insider, what Brady Quinn, Charlie Weiss, your friend, and all of us either already know or should keep in mind is that, during this period leading up to the draft, we should not believe ANYTHING that we hear from NFL front offices, and only half of what we see. It's common practice for a team to fake interest in a player to try to get a team with a later pick to think that they need to trade up to get that player, and I think that's what's going on here. I think this for a couple of reasons. One, if they draft Quinn they start all over again at ground zero with a rookie QB, and the last two years that they spent getting Campbell acclimated to the NFL go down the drain. With Snyder being as impatient as he is and Gibbs being a short-timer in his current role, I just don't see that happening. Two, with the money that they've already committed to Campbell, the mega-contract they'd have to Quinn would put even as resourceful a team as the Redskins in a real salary cap bind. People, relax, it ain't gonna happen.

Posted by: rbpalmer | April 11, 2007 1:00 PM

I heard the Mike and Mike interview with Quinn as well. Like Inigo M said teams are always telling guys they'll draft them if they're there when they pick. Smells like a red herring to me.

Posted by: skinswest | April 11, 2007 1:07 PM

Thanks for the luv, Diddy and Lance!

Posted by: Cindy | April 11, 2007 1:11 PM

Didn't Kellen Winslow Jr. say a few years back that the Redskins - specifically Joe Gibbs as I recall - had 'promised' to draft him too? How'd that work out for Kellen? I suspect it will work out the same way for Brady Quinn.

So far this offseason the skins have been reported to be interested in the following players:
J. Russell, C. Branch, B. Quinn, J. Anderson, L. Landry?, trade for Briggs, anyone else I missed?

It has also been reported that they're not impressed with the following players:
Alan Branch, G. Adams

Prediction: they draft Branch or Adams

New Post

skinswest, yep, you forgot Asante Samuel. The FO is on the offensive ... its called misdirection.

Posted by: dcsween | April 11, 2007 1:25 PM

For those who think we're drafting Quinn, because someone posted it on a BLOG, I've got some 'land' that I need to get out from under, would you be interested in purchasing?

Have a CLUE.

Posted by: Greg(Boston) | April 11, 2007 1:25 PM

Call me optimistic, but I see 11 - 5!

3-3 in the NFC east

3-1 vs the AFC East and NFC North (Chi and NE loss)

Then wins against Ari and TB

(Is it bad that I predicted an 11-5 season last year?) ;)

DC, unfortunately if we can see it, so can the rest of the NFL. DL is their most glaring weakness and it's hardly a secret.

Posted by: skinswest | April 11, 2007 1:43 PM

From way out of left field; Skins draft Brady Quinn and when Joe Gibbs retires after this season, reunite Quinn with guess who??? Charile Weiss.

Posted by: Flash Gordon | April 11, 2007 2:32 PM

Who the hell is C. Branch?

Posted by: Wagman | April 11, 2007 4:18 PM

WTF is up with this annual trip to Tampa? What is this like the third straight year we,ve had to go there, not including the playoff game.

RE: Kellen Winslow Jr.

Anyone remember that look on his face when they announced that the Redskins drafted Sean Taylor. It was beautiful. I'm glad we didn't draft him and have to deal with the motorcycle accident. Talk about a bust.

This blog has really started to go downhill. I used to like coming here because it seemed as though there smart fans to blog with. Guess I was wrong.

The language is just down right bad. I hope someone from the post reads this and somehow blocks people from blogging here.

Posted by: Anonymous | April 11, 2007 6:57 PM

downhill,

Man, it's the offseason - almost nothing's happening. Anyway, everything's been covered a hundred times before (re-read it - it'll keep you busy for a looooong time.) Come back when news hits.

Anyway, by definition it's a blog so you're just going to have to put up with a lot of crap.

Posted by: charlie | April 11, 2007 8:49 PM

Anyway, smart people just don't keep re-hashing the same old material or they're doing something else during the off-season because they're smart!

Posted by: charlie | April 11, 2007 8:51 PM

Yes, Winslow was told they were interested in him and probably would draft him.
However, the media ran with it, and said it was a fact the Skins would draft him, thus he believed the media and felt it was a done deal.

These players don't understand that yes, a team is truly interested in them, but they are truly interested in five players when picking as high as we were, and could only take one. They think the world revolves around them anyway. Winslow acted like he had been cheated. The ones cheated thus far are the Browns by Winslow.

Sean Taylor was the much better selection!

Quinn? Isn't that Irish for Schuler?
