Why Do The Raiders Get To Go On The Clock?

I'm just saying? Shouldn't they have to just make the damn pick at noon? They've had 3 months to figure this thing out. Somehow I think that should suffice. Sounds like a blog-law to me.

Whatdya think?

Jason, you are killing us with new posts. How about having one thread for the first round and you can add in-line comments?

Who is worse Deion or Meshawn?

Posted by: calebt17 | April 28, 2007 12:05 PM

Meshawn is the worst, by far. At least Deion can be midly amusing from time to time. I just want to smack Meshawn -- right in the back of his damn head.

Whoever has the number one overall pick should have 5 minutes to make their pick once they are on the clock

Posted by: Frank | April 28, 2007 12:08 PM

No, I like all the posts. The Raiders should pick immediately. I can't help but watch the draft, but it's already too long!

Posted by: Joe The Fan | April 28, 2007 12:08 PM

cdubb, if you take away Jones' 77 yd run, his average is something like 3.4. Yeah, if he gets a 100 yds, he gets 200. But he needs blocking, he won't attack anybody, and he'll fall over in a light breeze.

Barber3 has a nose for the end zone, but I'm not convinced. On Cowboys blogs he is known as THam2 (that's a Troy Hambrick reference, for the uninitiated).

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:08 PM

Here we go!!!

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:09 PM

I am hopeful that we do not screw today up. Hopeful, not confident...

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:10 PM

noon apparently means 12:10 pm in NFL-speak...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:10 PM

I'm so excited, can't believe I'm not getting it on ESPN here, instead I've got Live Italian Serie A.

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:10 PM

Wow... Half the Raider reps look like they're young enough to still live in a frat house. Amazing...

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:11 PM

Anyone think it won't be JaMarcus?

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:11 PM

James Joyce, errrrrrrrr, Ocho-Ocho is in the (yawn) house!

Good morning JLaC! Hope you and your family are well. How is Baby Rocco doing?

Hi Cyn Cyty! Glad you survived New York. Did you buy Maske a pulse while you were there?

Okay, bring on the Draft!

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:12 PM

kose, AC Milan v Torino?

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:12 PM

With the first overall pick, I would like to announce a trade. The Oakland raiders trade with the Washington Redskins and acquire Calvin Johnson. (Vinny's last revenge) He gave up the next two years of our first rounders.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:13 PM

SMACK - Yep, that's the game.

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:13 PM

kost,

Since they haven't dumped Randy Moss yet, I would be surprised if they didn't take JR.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:13 PM

Best part of the draft so far?

NO CHRIS BERMAN!!!

Geez, I hate that guy.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:14 PM

We have exhausted the options for the Skins at #6. what does everybody think about the positions and prospects fo tomorrow's picks?

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:15 PM

Frank,

Those 1st round picks wouldn't be enough. They just said on the NFL Network that Al Davis asked the Browns for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd this year and their 1st next year to move up to #1.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:15 PM

Ocho, I like Chris....He must be on a cigarette break. He's there.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:16 PM

Moss refused their request to restructure to facilitate a trade. LOL He still has 2 years/$20mill left on his deal, w/ $11mill guaranteed. Yikes.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:18 PM

My most recent 'couch-ridden belly-jiggling chuckle moment' of the draft broadcast on ESPN so far: The information ticker listing Adam Archuleta as a key loss for the Skins.

Come on, Raiders - get on with it already!

Posted by: FlimFlam | April 28, 2007 12:18 PM

Just Me...Totally kidding. I would hate it if we moved up to the first pick. There is a lot of risk going that high.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:18 PM

jaws is looking snappy with the lime green tie! and yes, i'm already critiquing wardrobes because nothing noteworthy is happening yet...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:18 PM

JustMe - That's crazy! It's seems that they are looking to draft Russell unless they can rob somebody for an crazy deal.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:19 PM

The Raiders are such a sorry no account team that I'm surpised Goodell didn't give them 30 minutes

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:20 PM

Survey Answers:

NFL Draft in other cities? Yes. Send it to NFL cities which aren't part of the Super Bowl rotation, as some suggested.

Super Bowl outside of the U.S.? No!

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:20 PM

Jamarcus to OAK. 5 to go...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:21 PM

First pick done. No Surprises there. Now I reckon the Lions trade with the Bucs, and the Bucs take C.Johnson

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:21 PM

Big Surprise!!!! I guess we will see how it goes on this pick. Lets see if Milan can blow this one.

Posted by: Anonymous | April 28, 2007 12:21 PM

Berman may be there but I'm not.

NFL Network is the place to be. ESPN is so last century.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:22 PM

What is up with that suit? Couldn't his agent invest in a stylist?

Posted by: Anonymous | April 28, 2007 12:22 PM

I'm with you, Ocho. Strictly NFL Network for me.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:24 PM

What is up with that unsigned post?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:24 PM

I like JaMarcus' wardrobe choice, altho I think a two-button jacket would have been better.

Posted by: Cindy | April 28, 2007 12:26 PM

Maybe Detroit will draft a kicker with the #2 pick. At least it wouldn't be another receiver.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:26 PM

I am surprised that Peterson is not projected higher. I think he could be a HOF running back.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:26 PM

what happened to steve young's face? look at his eyebrows...

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:27 PM

Looks like 5 wr's sets for Detroit

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:27 PM

Calvin Johnson is going to be a great player, but you have to have somebody to throw the ball to him...

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:28 PM

someone needs to tell Calvin Johnson you should only wear one lapel pin. i'm also not digging the tie that seems to be made from the same material as his suit...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:28 PM

I think unsigned meant Millen, not AC Milan.

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:28 PM

that was snyder calling CJ...ergo the smile

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:28 PM

If they take him, it must be to trade him. They already have R.Williams and M.Furrey. But then again, it is Millen. I think he's the only person in the NFL that us redskins can justly scorn!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:28 PM

WTF is TK doing there?

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:30 PM

Did anyone else notice that the clock stopped???? Ooooohhhhh go browns.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:30 PM

MNF dealer is the reaosn for TK

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:30 PM

Kost, are you still awake? Good on you, as you say.

Only another hour - have some more coffee or beer or whatever works in Oz.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:31 PM

craziness.

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:31 PM

I hope he can throw the ball to himself

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:31 PM

ok good cj is gone hopefully that means no stupid trades up by snyder now

Posted by: dante | April 28, 2007 12:31 PM

There were more Lions fans at the draft party than show up to their games

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:31 PM

looks like i was wrong about his tie. still don't like it though.

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:32 PM

This is the toughest one to pick I think, and it could make or break us. Quinn, Thomas, or Peterson.

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:32 PM

Hey Smack!

How many entries did you get for your #22 Pick Contest?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:32 PM

Is it a bad sign that CJ about dropped his jersey twice?

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:32 PM

CJ can play power forward in the NBA? Well what is he doing around 5:30 today

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:34 PM

I don't mean any harm, but I'm seeing a lot of folks who could use this contract money to get some dental work (JaMarcus Russell's mama, Calvin Johnson....).

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:34 PM

It has to be Quinn going to Cleveland at #3. Only 15 minutes until we know.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:34 PM

Ocho-Ocho -

I've had so much coffee, that when it comes time to go to sleep, I won't be able to!

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:35 PM

nah Just Me, that's for the straw...

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:35 PM

I laughed aloud when I saw DETROIT take a WR with their 1st pick. Awesome!

Posted by: Dorf | April 28, 2007 12:36 PM

lol espn ticker just said our key loss this offseason was arch deluxe

Posted by: dante | April 28, 2007 12:36 PM

I hope Desmond Howard isn't an available free agent.

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:36 PM

why is Brady Quinn sitting next to Christina Aguilera's stunt double?

Posted by: [cc] | April 28, 2007 12:37 PM

I hate Brady Quinn and am real glad we are not in the market for a QB. Dan Snyder would be trading up right now.

Posted by: cdubb | April 28, 2007 12:37 PM

I think I would have taken Calvin also.

Posted by: Frank (Los Angeles) | April 28, 2007 12:37 PM

I think I got five, Griffin, Meacham (2), Bowe, Ross. But we'll probably do something stupid and unexpected.

Posted by: SMACK | April 28, 2007 12:38 PM

hahahaha @ matt millen

Posted by: pack4life | April 28, 2007 12:38 PM

new post

Posted by: Anonymous | April 28, 2007 12:38 PM

SMACK - I said Chris Houston

Posted by: kost52 | April 28, 2007 12:39 PM

Looks like the Lions aren't gonna trade CJ. Fate is conspiring to ensure that the Redskins do something responsible with their pick. I'm feeling okay so far.

Posted by: JustMe | April 28, 2007 12:39 PM

dante - not unless they still trade up to draft CJ, before realizing he has already been picked.

Posted by: BT | April 28, 2007 12:39 PM

Adam Schefter just reported that Detroit IS NOT going to trade Calvin Johnson. They are keeping him. Most likely they will trade Mike Williams to TN (or another of their WRs)>

Posted by: Lisa | April 28, 2007 12:39 PM

justme, you're not being mean. but it has nothing to do with having money. it's commitment issue. so far in his life him having dental work done[read wearing braces for a year or so] hasn't outweighed comfort.

but when his agent tells him "hey, wear braces for a year or so and you'll be making $10 million in ad revenue". and i'm pretty sure he'll do it then especially if he's good as everyone thinks he will be.

Posted by: dealer | April 28, 2007 12:40 PM

Not trying to be mean, but is that Brady Quinn's girlfriend? If so, he can do much better, and probably will once he signs his contract.

Posted by: Frank (Maryland) | April 28, 2007 12:40 PM

Smack,

At #22 if they do something stupid, not many people will notice. Besides, Cowboys have lots of needs anyway, yes?

Posted by: Ocho-Ocho | April 28, 2007 12:40 PM

Smart!! The safest pick in the draft

Posted by: craig8 | April 28, 2007 12:43 PM
