Waiting For Bubba

Still no word on Chris Samuels. The team sez it could be until 11 pm before they know the results of the MRI, and if it's any later than that they will just get the info on Tuesday. I'll post something as soon as I hear it, and thanks for checking in.

Cheers.

I sure hope he is ok...we need him...but if it's going to happen at leasty its ealry to work in a new tackle.

Posted by: Leevi | July 30, 2007 9:50 PM

Yeah early on is key and we have more backup tackles than we have guards so we can work this out....hoping its just a sprained MCL and Samuels can be back for the opener and perhaps 100% after the bye week....This guy always played with tweaked knees...he is a warrior.

Man, it's depressing enough watching Samuels getting spun around like a top by opposing DE's, so I would really hate to see the old Cowboy Fabini in there. Saunders would have to roll JC out to his right on every pass play in order to save his life.

Week 1 = Jason Taylor
w/ Samuels = 2 sacks
w/o Samuels = 10 sacks and a new single game sack record for Taylor

Wow, I'm 5th!

I think I can squeeze out 1 more year. Sign me up.

All off season ... me and a host of others said the O Line was the biggest concern for the Skins. Why? Cuz it has to protect a young developing QB. Because the heart and soul running game depends on it. Because we had ZERO depth. The only young guy left. All the other OL have had significant injuries in the past few seasons. So we are a few days into camp and two OL are already hurting and missing time. While Joe and Danny spent all that time and money getting talented but underachieving DBs ... our O Line was aging and being depleted. Sad state of affairs. But predictable. So very predictable.

wow!

i hope he is ok. but if we lose Samuels i think wade could fit in easy. and we can use any back up to play guard.

It never fails... I hope he's okay and isn't out for an extended amount of time. I'm sure Bugel will be able to shuffle the lineman around to get decent protection for JCamp.

It is TOO SJK early to think negative.

I didn't hang out on RI all freakin (SJK) offseason for this......

Posted by: 4th | July 30, 2007 10:31 PM

4th, i want to think that all these folks are being sarcastic...hopefully.

Posted by: dealer | July 30, 2007 10:35 PM

Settle down people, it's football, injuries happen. We're not the only team which has had a key player go down -

GB-WR D.Driver - Failed Physical (Shoulder)
DET-QB D.Stanton - Knee
TB-QB C.Simms - Throwing Arm
MIN-TE V.Shiancoe - Quad
DAL-WR T.Glenn - Knee
SEA-DB J.Babineaux - Knee

It's not the end of the world, it doesn't sound like he's going to miss too much time. It's not like he's done his ACL, and even if he did, sometimes a player going down with injury, can push a youngster to the forefront, like Betts last year.

So... we should be hearing something a bit more definitive soon on Samuels, eh?

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | July 30, 2007 10:48 PM

These folks need to take a deep breath and have a SJKin' drink. All of the people lining up to jump off the nearest bridge are exhausting me already. How is it the damn whiners have hit mid-season form before the damn pre-season even starts??? SJK

Press Release from the Park:

MRI UPDATE ON REDSKINS TACKLE CHRIS SAMUELS

Ashburn, VA - An MRI taken on Redskins offensive tackle Chris Samuels tonight revealed an isolated grade 2 sprain of his right MCL.

The injury is expected to keep Samuels out for up to four weeks.

Posted by: JustMe | July 30, 2007 10:53 PM

Just getting the taste of that vitriol again is a bit of a rush, JustMe.

And... new post!

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | July 30, 2007 10:55 PM

Al, I believe we do have depth on the O line....and Samuels is 30 - not considered young by NFL standards. He has also been injured before - on the same knee.

i am soo sick and tired of the same ol song with "Skins" fans complaining and blaming everything on Danny and Gibbs...There is nothing to freakin blame...Some of you act like they want to lose on purpose or something. Gibbs is definitely a smarter football mind than anyone in here and also sees tons of hours of film and watches players run plays 1000 times to the one you see in a game...I think he knows better than all of us....I think some of you need some Rn R and get back to earth and see that its a game for our entertainment.

HAIL!

By the by, this has to be one of the best blog post titles ever. Waiting for Bubba. I love it.
