Hey there, fire away with any questions you have. Not much going on at The Park. Got a chance to sneak in a trip to the mall with Chloe to get an anniversary present for Lauren - five years of bliss - and that's about it.
Will post anything of note from out here later.
Cheers.

This is a general question: With the big draftees holdouts this (and every) summer, why 1. don't they hammer out contracts right after the draft so teams and players don't suffer; and 2. what would stop a great player likely to go number 1, not declare for the draft but go the free agency route after the draft where he could pick his team?

Geez what a pp contest we've been having in the last 24 hours. I'll chalk it up to "the humidity that is blanketing much of the country."
Still could you zip it up and can we move on especially anon posters? If you're married or have a girlfriend/boyfriend obviously you've found someone who thinks you have a nice pp so give it a rest.

yeah man they are playing a lot. i wrote a little about it int he notes the other day in the paper, but Landry is with the first string in most of the 11 on 11 drills and they will play together for a while this Saturday, too, I would suspect

sfskin, any married man will tell that his wife doesn't know what his pp looks like.
And Zebra he didn't say "you" were soft. He said flopping Euro soccer players were soft. That's why I was curious as to why you got so bent. Even if he said you were soft, you're grown man; ignore that fool. And don't be so quick to want to trade blows in DC unless you are armed as well. Don't you read the paper.
Posted by: LH | August 9, 2007 3:08 PM
Viscount - no I haven't been to Spruce although I've heard good things.
I'm not a wine drinker, never acquired a taste probably because it started off as my mom's poison of choice.
My biochemistry is now officially stopping most any drinking it appears. Even a glass of something can make the next day a literal headache.

J-La-C:
My complements on your iPod library. Despite having been born in DC-envy Baltimore, you have embraced the bad boys of DC punk, such as "Bad Brains".
Pixies, Dead Kennedys, and Minutemen also worked their way in during a realtively short chat. Not from DC, but they'll do. You have successfully achieved punk street cred, and no doubt Reverend MacKaye in Arlington would be pleased.
May I suggest you make sure your daughter does not get her hands on your iPod for the next 20 years or so?

BTW, few people actually give a rat's about what you listen to on your mp3 player, JLC.
And I get that no team should have a reporter covering a team that the reporter is a fan of, as that would potentially create biased positive reporting. But how about biased negative reporting? Your dislike of the 'skins - for whatever reason - really showed in your reporting last year, and will show again this year too. The Post should recognize, and put someone on the beat without positive OR negative feelings about the team.

All reporters profess total nuetrality. It's not the case but they have to say it.
It's like Husband's telling their wives that they don't even look at other women. It's called lip service.
There is no story here, move along....
Posted by: Skinz | August 9, 2007 4:15 PM
I keep seeing the reocurring statements of people and writers worrying that the Skins camp has not been aggressive and not tough with hard hitting etc etc etc....
Well that does not mean anything...who says you need a tough beat each other up camp to have a successful year....
Bill Walsh and the 49ers had non aggressive camps without allot of hitting the whole decade of the 80s....He beleived in fundamentals not beat each other up camps...
He is famous for that....
I'd say it worked ...wouldn't you????
Posted by: Leevi | August 9, 2007 4:15 PM

"A guy who knows the person who owns the paintball park at which Redskins safety LaRon Landry got hit in LaDong with a tiny ball of paint says Landry had 'shot' one of his Redskins teammates, knocking him out of the game. Then, Landry walked up to the player, who was on the ground at the time, and proclaimed that he was going to finish him off, execution style.
"The teammate then raised his paintball gun and shot Landry point-blank in the crotch."

Someone told me that LaFawn Laundry has some writing on his trapezoids. Boy is he really going to get it from with Mr Jones in geometry class now!
Is it true that the nice Sultana Moth still has problems 'down below'? My aunty had those problems too and had to get a histo-rectum-y, so I hope he gets better soon. Maybe he can talk about how to get better with that nice Mr Termite Ovens from the Dulles Cowboys as they are so close by.

Q. Will the Cowboys win the Super Bowl this season?
A. Yes, definitely.
Q. Will David Beckham play tonight?
A. Better not tell you now.
Q. Did Sean Taylor hurt his knee?
A. My sources say no.
Q. Is JC the QB of the Skins' future?

Q. Is Vick guilty in the dogfighting saga?
A. Cannot predict now.

THIS DAY IN RI HISTORY
August 9, 2006 - Just a few days old and already the future of RI has come into question. In nearly half of the, ahem, 11 posts, bloggers point out how difficult it was just to find the Insider on WaPo's website. But they also overwhelmingly state their support in having it continue through the season, which is indeed a serious question at this juncture. Jasno's response:
I'm not making a penny off this bloggy. Was asked to do it, had a blast with the World Cup blog, and was glad to try it again. My editors seem inclined to keep it as a training-camp only thing for now, but feel free to your voice your opinions and email away. Like I said yesterday, I am open to doing it through the season if demand is there.
Hmm. Let's hope the demand for RI continues.
