Redskins Insider, by Jason La Canfora Redskins Insider

Inactives

No Daniels and Smoot.

So Springs starts - from what I hear he was going to even before Fred hurt his hamstring. Demetric Evans starts too, so they go in without an every-down defensive end on the sidelines. Chris Wilson is the only other DE on the roster and he's a third-down rush end at this point.

Reche Caldwell also inactive, so the wide receiver has a chance to step up if he wants to.

Vernon Fox (groin) is also out, and they may end up sticking with Omar Stoutmire there.

Cordy Body, Shaun Bodiford and Lorenzo Alexander are also scratched.

At last a new thread. Just in time.

1 down. 4 more to go Jasno. Get moving.

Posted by: bigfish | September 17, 2007 7:25 PM

Strange....Smoot & Rogers were planning to defy the dress code and try to outdo each other. Kelli Johnson was just interviewed and she did not say anything Smoot being inactive.

Posted by: Lisa | September 17, 2007 7:25 PM

too bad smoot is out... I have a feeling we'll miss him

Posted by: Coskins | September 17, 2007 7:26 PM

I reckon we'll see Randall a bit tonight. Lack of DE depth will probably mean Marcus will spend some time at DE.

Posted by: kost52 | September 17, 2007 7:26 PM

Coskins,
Maybe, I was just wondering if it would matter. Depth never hurts.

Posted by: Stumped | September 17, 2007 7:27 PM

~1070 on that last one, MV. Top 5? Top 10?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 17, 2007 7:27 PM

Is it just me, or is that only 7? Isn't there meant to be 1 more?

Posted by: kost52 | September 17, 2007 7:27 PM

PP?

Posted by: kost52 | September 17, 2007 7:28 PM

Triple X Radio - Smoot inactive.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 17, 2007 7:28 PM

depth and a good 3rd CB against mcnabb... that wouldn't hurt

Posted by: COskins | September 17, 2007 7:28 PM

Cordy Body?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Posted by: WTG Jasno | September 17, 2007 7:29 PM

Carbon fiber's got nothing on Sean Taylor's hair.

No redskin player is accused of being smart so brandon lloyd fits right in

Posted by: Anonymous | September 17, 2007 7:50 PM

Right, that's it for me!

Go you Skins!

Bring the heat Area 51!!

HAIL!!!!!

Posted by: kost52 | September 17, 2007 7:53 PM

kost - You mentioned that you had to wait 8 hours to watch the game. Is it not broadcasted live there?

Posted by: bigfish | September 17, 2007 7:54 PM

This could be it. I can tell by watching Parcells that he thinks Gibbs is about to loose dem torpedoes. Springs starts as expected. TWO huge divisional matchups in a row.

Its time to see what JC and the newly revamped offensive line can really do. Time to attempt some first half fireworks.

IF LLOYD IS SMART he'll start acting like Gary Clark and not like Rod Gardner. Here's his chance to find out what it was like for Randle El and I believe Gibbs is looking at this game as the lynch pin for what this season is going to be like.

Posted by: periculum | September 17, 2007 7:55 PM

Sorry for the caps, but I'm shouting at ESPN: DO YOU FOOLS REALIZE THERE'S ANOTHER TEAM ON THE FIELD NOT WEARING GREEN AND WHITE?!?

Gawd, get your head out of Daunt's whatever and remember the other team has fans, too!

Ugh..jerks.

Posted by: bigfish | September 17, 2007 8:17 PM

JC must be about ready to wet himself. He'll probably throw his first 10-yard out about 80 yards. But I really hope you hang a home loss on the Eags.

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, like Sallie Mae's twice-regurgitated cat food, but GO SKINS!

Posted by: SMACK | September 17, 2007 8:17 PM

Oh now we have Tom Jackson yelling (of course) about Daunte.

I'm...stunned.

Now Chris is yapping about something Philly-related.

Oh, now they're yapping about Jaws.

Posted by: Karalynn | September 17, 2007 8:17 PM

Posted by: Stumped | September 17, 2007 8:18 PM

The 'Skins will get no national TV respect until they start winning. We may not like it, we may think it's unfair, but the 'Skins have sucked for so long that they're a League laughingstock until they prove they can win consistently. It is what it is.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 17, 2007 8:18 PM

Oh sorry. I just lost consciousness. Someone mentioned a guy named Portis :)

Have faith, Skins fans. Mike Ditka picked us to win.

Even better, Jimmy Johnson picked us to lose.

It doesn't get any better than this.

Posted by: Karalynn | September 17, 2007 8:19 PM

Well said, PD....we can demand nothing until the Skins are 11-5, not 5-11, AND back it up with back-to-back winning seasons.

Posted by: HaikuMan | September 17, 2007 8:20 PM

Diddy,
Now is the time to end it.

The Skins and Cowboys will play for the Division title on the final game of the season.

Order is restored, painful memories fade...it starts right now.

Posted by: Stumped | September 17, 2007 8:20 PM

Uummm...I'm just happy that a 5-11 team gets an MNF game at all? Do you see any other 5-11 teams in the MNF lineup this year? [Okay, I didn't check before posting this.]

Skins begin long road
To respectability
By crushing Eagles

Posted by: HaikuMan | September 17, 2007 8:23 PM

Not true, P Diddy.

If we're such a laughingstock, why do we always have one of the first 2 SNF/MNF games?

I predict this year is like 2005. They'll wait til we've won like 6 and then say "wow, I didn't see that coming". They're all idiots except for, of all people, Michael Irvin. He's got our back!

Keyshawn - Eagles

Eyeball - Eagles

Posted by: bigfish | September 17, 2007 8:29 PM

"I think Soup will do a lot with his 20+/- 5 passes too."

Expect 25-30 most in the 1st half. Many short to backs to set
up longer throws bringing Dawkins. Expect most of the 40
carries in the second half if things go right.

Expect at least 5-8 intermediate to long bombs mixed with some "gadgets", wrinkles to fool the aggressive Philly defense.

its make or break for JC and he knows it. They REALLY have to have this game or the season could be bleak.

Oh and I've decided to file a complaint with Amnesty International - Oreo Pizza is a crime against humanity.

Actually, screw calm.

To quote the greatest sports call of all time (now THERE's a future blog thread)...

"Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!"

Haiku, I think calm went out sometime yesterday when the no-Sunday-game cabin fever finally took its mental toll....

Posted by: FlimFlam | September 17, 2007 8:55 PM

Hey all...
Evans showed up on the first D play.... got good penetration to shut down the run.
LFB, on the other hand, needs to be less one-on-one with Westbrook.

Good signs for a decent defense -- Eagles made a mistake (holding), can't convert.

Wouldn't mind seeing a tight, close, cynical first half.

Yeah, it's like saying your 18-wheel-tractor-trailer is the fastest from 0-60, isn't it?

Thanks SFSkin! Offered and taken!

I am getting a Sellars jersey.

Posted by: E in VB | September 17, 2007 9:02 PM

Sellars always needed a nickname. I guess Jaws used "Brad" because he's like a nail, which is related to a hammer in some way?

Posted by: cload and daggar | September 17, 2007 9:02 PM

I'm 6ft3, so I'd get a Sellers shirt, but he has me by friggin' 80 pounds. 6ft3, 280! A beast!

WTF just happened. Run on 3rd and 2, not pass....

Well, that's about as good as it's going to get, as far as slowing the bleeding's concerned.

As to the hyperbaric chamber thing, I think it's pure O2 being pumped in. The chamber allows for a higher level of dissolved gasses in the blood.
