Redskins Insider, by Jason La Canfora Redskins Insider

Inactives

Plaxico Burress is active for the Giants - he'll be one to watch. Have to see how fit he is and if he lines up on Carlos a lot.

Rick DeMulling is up for the Skins despite just being here for one full practice. Smoot out again, as is Vernon Fox
Daniels is up but they only have 7 D Linemen up, Phillip is coming off injury and one of the reserves, Chris Wilson, is a situational third down guy. Bit of a gamble there.

Vernon Fox is out again. Obviously, Randy Thomas is, too. Reche Caldwell, Cody Boyd, Lorenzo Alexander and Ryan Boschetti are all out as well.

Oh yeah, and I still hate HP.

What is with Smoot? Is he badly hurt? Does he know the defense?

Posted by: BobD | September 23, 2007 3:47 PM

Today's game must be BLloyd's last stand.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 3:50 PM

FWIW - Taylor Jacobs of San Fran just scored a TD and moved ahead of BLloyd in the Futility category.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 3:51 PM

Why is Warner playing for Cards?

Is Smoot's injury a hammy?

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 3:52 PM

The real question is: are we ever going to see Cordy Body play for the Redskins?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 3:53 PM

Favre ties Marino.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 3:54 PM

JLaC: Buy a Brother Laser printer--- life is too short!!!

Posted by: bobbo | September 23, 2007 3:54 PM

Alrrriiight! Are we ready for some Redskin football?!

How did we do against the Ultimatim?

GO SKINS - Big Run Day & Eli bloody in the mouth. Lets' do this!

Lust for May Hens!

Posted by: The AMAZING Dik Shuttle | September 23, 2007 3:55 PM

Philly making a pretty emphatic statement. Told you the Lions sucked. They could resurrect Lombardi or Walsh, and they would STILL find ways to lose games.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 3:57 PM

Jasno! I can't say about brothers - but the cheap Epson color (R-200?) is awesome. Always works - always beautiful color.

If you're talkin' laser... I have Dells at the office & very happy.

GO SKINS!

Posted by: Dik | September 23, 2007 3:57 PM

Cindy, Loseable Type is dropping posts again.

Official reason given for Leinart being pulled - "ineffective play".

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 3:57 PM

Is Favre having an Elway final season? Looks like it might be.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 3:57 PM

damn philly game has 7 minutes left still! They better switch it over by kickoff, or I might need a lil play by play.

Posted by: nah | September 23, 2007 3:58 PM

He was pulled because he stinks.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 3:58 PM

Umm maybe they should fire Norv right now.

Sheesh!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 3:59 PM

FIRE NORV TURNER!
(repeat 7,000 times)

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 3:59 PM

Redcoat must be smiling - Miami has a lead.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:00 PM

sfskin, you rockin the Red Zone Channel?

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 4:00 PM

TM - Jets beat Miami 31-28

The Packers win. That game is gonna be a monster for us.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:01 PM

Jinx!

Sorry, Redcoat.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:02 PM

Viscount - nah I'm switching around from game to game and to the Game Mix channel.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:02 PM

Patriots have scored 38 points in each of their three games (vs. 14, 14 and 7).

And how about those Bills? Dockery must be steamrolling those defensive linemen he's facing.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:05 PM

Chiefs win! Chiefs win! Chiefs win!

Posted by: LOL | September 23, 2007 4:07 PM

Ravens win on a last-second field goal by Stover.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:09 PM

Brett Favre = Keith Richards of football

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:11 PM

Maybe Favre can be in the next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:13 PM

And now for the REAL game! WOOHOO!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:13 PM

i love my hp printer!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:13 PM

Oh Duck - it's Joe Buck (and Troy Aikman)

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:13 PM

I could have lived without seeing these Redskins Throwup jerseys.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:14 PM

For all our kvetching about the throwback uniforms, they actually look pretty good. Much, much, much, much better than the Eagles' throwbacks.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 4:14 PM

I don't trust printers. I use Trappist monks.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 4:15 PM

red zone channel rocks!!!!!

NORV's GOTTA GO, NORV's GOTTA GO!!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:16 PM

Brett Favre will probably see these throwback jerseys and then ask Dan Snyder for a 10-year contract.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:17 PM

Trappist monks are on the Eastern Shore, Cindy. Do they commute in daily for you?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:18 PM

Maybe the unis would look better in sepia tones.

Got keep running. Got keep running.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:18 PM

Sheesh I just channeled J-La big time.

Gotta keep running.

Setting up the long ball . . .

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:19 PM

Let me say for the record: Joe Buck is an idiot. (The Skins are running left and he is saying that the right-side line injuries haven't affected them.)

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:21 PM

I hafta say, these throwback unis aren't that bad. I kinda like 'em! Esp. compared with Philly's.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 4:21 PM

weaksauce!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:23 PM

Damn, Shazam - WTF was that?

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 4:23 PM

Listen watching the the fat o-linemen play naked with just jockstraps and black socks would be better than the Philly unis.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:24 PM

Maybe they should keep these unis and change the name to the Yellowskins.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 4:25 PM

SeanTay fell down?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:26 PM

have we ever won with throwbacks on?

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:26 PM

I see Springs. I seen him 3 times. Springs is there and starting and stuff.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:27 PM

Where is the D?

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | September 23, 2007 4:28 PM

time for some "bend but don't break"

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 4:28 PM

Beats me. I haven't had a single thought in my head since SF posted her idea. There are crickets in my head.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 4:29 PM

crickets - LMGO!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 4:31 PM

i hope that miss fg doesnt come back to bite us in the @$$!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:31 PM

I don't like the feel of this, defense way soft not hitting field goal has let down game written all over it.

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 4:32 PM

The black socks did it.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 4:32 PM

Time for a long pass to Moss.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:32 PM

Sure cause when I do backflips with my truck I certainly don't want my motorcycle falling out.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:33 PM

Sorry Cyn Cyty hope you can clear your head soon. But that's how bad the Philly unis are.

Okay d came up at the end there now O needs to get it going and get some points.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:34 PM

first time we didnt score first...first time we gave up points on the opening drive...i dont like this either...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:35 PM

I think the Black Sox name is available for use in the NFL, Cindy.

Or maybe all black uniforms and then the name could be "D.C. Crickets".

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:35 PM

I can't wait to see the "X Games for Teachers" on ESPN12.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 4:37 PM

JC not looking particularly sharp today.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 4:37 PM

Ugghh!

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 4:37 PM

X Games for Teachers is already airing on The Ocho.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 4:38 PM

geezzus...stretch the field maybe...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:38 PM

Wouldn't "right now" be a good time for the D to get their first turnover of the year?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:39 PM

Come on GRWilliams and guys play the dang game!!!!!

Posted by: D-Fense | September 23, 2007 4:39 PM

Hail To the REdskins!!!

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 4:42 PM

Sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery . . . touchdown.

Nice.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:42 PM

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:42 PM

Have they even run to the right side all game?

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 4:42 PM

LFB all the way

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 4:43 PM

Ask and it shall be given!!!!

Posted by: D-Fense | September 23, 2007 4:44 PM

Hail to the Redskins!

That sinking feeling is headed in the other direction.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:44 PM

Hail to Eli's butter fingers!!!!

gotta start stopping that ward guy...wtf!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:51 PM

Who's going to be inactive first: Brandon Lloyd or Tom Coughlin?

Posted by: talent evaluator | September 23, 2007 4:52 PM

The temp is dropping..... It is getting a little Cooley

Posted by: GoSkins!!! | September 23, 2007 4:52 PM

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:53 PM

Was that CP! WOOOO!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:53 PM

that play was awesome! Portis - what a block!!!!

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 4:53 PM

It's time for the Ladell Betts Show!

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:54 PM

i guess thats one way to run right...

but get those guys (fabini and wade) moving forward!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:54 PM

And THAT is why CP is my favorite current Redskin!

What a block! What a pickup!

What a MAN!

Posted by: farstriker | September 23, 2007 4:54 PM

After the 1st quarter The Receiver is 0 for the year.

Posted by: RCaldwell | September 23, 2007 4:55 PM

What a man.
What a mighty goooooood maaann!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:56 PM

whats up with the game mix...theye only got 3 of the 5 late games up...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 4:56 PM

For those who missed it, Taylor Jacobs caught a pass and scored a touchdown for San Fran today.

Taylor Jacobs - 1
Brandon Lloyd - 0

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 4:57 PM

Has the Receiver even been on the field? Except for running across it during warm ups?

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 4:58 PM

they just showed him on the bench talking to moss...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:00 PM

Big Al needs to save those tricky running plays with ARE for the second half when the defense is worn down. That was a waste of a possession because of 0 yards on 2nd down.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:00 PM

No, but he can see it from where he sits.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 5:00 PM

Moss is telling BLloyd what it's like to catch a pass.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:01 PM

horrible spot...throw the red flag...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:02 PM

bad spot by the umpire

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:02 PM

ok so their short...but that was a generous spot nonetheless...

need some points...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:03 PM

and another shanked punt by the Giants

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:03 PM

BTW Plexiglass felt the power of Area 51 on that drop.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:04 PM

Good stop guys.... now take a seat a let the offense go to work...

Posted by: GRWilliams | September 23, 2007 5:04 PM

I really do love that Pepsi commercial with Jerry Jones.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:04 PM

Okay it's not sexy or gamebreaking but Soups has done a good job on his reads in a couple of these plays.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:06 PM

Hey Santana....Did you get a copy of my CD?

Posted by: The Receiver | September 23, 2007 5:07 PM

Moss!

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

Unbelievable catch. WOW.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

No overthrow on that one BABBBEEE!!!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

I knew that play was in the scheme this half.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

Anyone else feel dirty with pretty boy aikman announcing the game....WOOT Moss baby!

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

Just reading a description of the 19th-century English essayist Walter Bagehot (yea, I know, when I multi-task I REALLY multi-task):

"a delicious writer, commanding a manly, outdoor style, a quiet but infectious sense of humor, and a sensibility that was at once large and admonitory"

Oddly enough, I was just going to describe Jasno in much the same terms. But that HP rant shook things up a bit.

Oh, yeah--great pass to Moss!

Posted by: farstriker | September 23, 2007 5:08 PM

man...jc cant hit him when he is wide open but he can sure thread it in there when hes covered...

likewise santana cant catch those short ones when hes wide open but catches everthing in coverage...

stretch the field!!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:09 PM

time to run left

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:09 PM

I think you left something out: "a delicious writer, commanding a manly, outdoor style, a quiet but infectious sense of humor, and a sensibility that was at once large and admonitory and carrying a lust for mayhem."

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 5:10 PM

COOOOOOOOOOLEY!

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:10 PM

And for that all I got is

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Posted by: farstriker | September 23, 2007 5:10 PM

Hail to the redskins, Hail victory!!!!

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:10 PM

cooooooooooooooooooooooooley!!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:10 PM

I love this iPod commercial.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:11 PM

fyi, skins have allowed three first-quarter points this season.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 5:11 PM

Cooley! Anyone doubt that was gonna be the call?

Soups has got magic in his touch on that ball.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:11 PM

the singers voice in the ipod commercials is infecting my brain and spreading like an Oreo pizza mustache

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:12 PM

Enjoy your whole week off fellas!!!

Posted by: JGibbs | September 23, 2007 5:12 PM

Oddly enough, Diddy, that Oreo's Pizza ad doesn't use the word "cardboardy."

Posted by: farstriker | September 23, 2007 5:12 PM

BTW Diddy - do you have your Oreo pizza yet?

Oh and great job by o-line protecting Soups on that drive.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:12 PM

3 and out...3 and out!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:13 PM

I think we should all chip in and buy Antonio Pierce another airhorn for his next press cobference.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:13 PM

Ah shti! Effin Chevy commercials!

Glad they're finally starting to talk about Soups with some respect.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:14 PM

I'm ordering Oreo Pizza as a matter of superstition now. I also like pissing off the anonymous hater who apparently doesn't know how to scroll down and keep his/her mouth shut.

The artist in that iPod nano commercial is Feist (song is "1234"). Not a big fan, but I do love that commercial (I love all Apple commercials, as it turns out)...

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:15 PM

Cindy, I also letf otu the creatiev speling

Posted by: farstriker | September 23, 2007 5:15 PM

Cooley looks like he was drinking before the game - or blogging his guts out last night

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:15 PM

14-3, way to go offense.

btw,

Ipod Commercial

Posted by: hailbg | September 23, 2007 5:16 PM

If they keep playing this Ward guy, I guarantee you he'll turn into a 'Skins Killer.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:17 PM

Anyone else notice eli is starting to do the song and dance more and more before the snap like Big Bro?

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:17 PM

5:15 was me

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:17 PM

Posted by: hailbg | September 23, 2007 5:18 PM

D starting to stiffen up

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:19 PM

You know what LSE best off season acquisition we've had in a long time.

And Dockery sure is "earning" his millions up there huh?

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:19 PM

I can't wait to see how this defense fairs vs. Favre and Brady. It's like having a shiny new car, and you're just waiting for the break-in period to end before you air it out.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:19 PM

I just said the same thing about the Mannings. Only difference is that when Peyton does it, he knows what he's doing. With this guy, a turnover is coming out of the oven.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 5:20 PM

getting off the field again...way to go boyz!!!!!

more points...more, More, MORE!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:20 PM

No no no seantay just has a little crampy in his hammy.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:22 PM

I didn't know Sean Taylor could get hurt

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 5:22 PM

just a bit early Sammy

Posted by: Mofass | September 23, 2007 5:22 PM

Am I the only one who loves thinking back to January 31, 1988 whenever I see #17 dropping back to pass?

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 5:23 PM

Frosty Lives! Frosty Lives!

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:25 PM

Hey sfskin - who is LSE please?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:28 PM

TM - LSE = London School of Economics = London Fletcher Baker - we've only managed this as his nickname so far or at least one that's stuck.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:29 PM

Sanatana obviously did NOT tell little brother how things are supposed to be.

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 5:30 PM

Thanks, sfskin - forgot about that nickname for him. (I always think of him as LFB.)

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:31 PM

I vote incomplete. Didn't have control and ground popped it out.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:31 PM

10 tccls for the boys in the booth...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:34 PM

Troy Aikmen is horrible...

INTERCEPTION!!! NICE!!!

Posted by: Principal SKINner | September 23, 2007 5:34 PM

London! DEEEEEEE-fense! IMPRESSIVE!

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:34 PM

So I ask you, London Fletcher or Antonio Pierce?

Posted by: talent evaluator | September 23, 2007 5:35 PM

Everything is going great!!! Even Saint Joe is making the correct overrule calls!!!! HHHOOOOORAYYYYYYYY

Posted by: GoSkins | September 23, 2007 5:35 PM

Oh darn - there goes another Jasno story line (no interceptions by Skins defense).

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:35 PM

LBM - didn't your momma tell you that was a bad word.

YEAH!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:35 PM

I like this better than bend but don't break.

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 5:35 PM

Definitely London Fletcher, TE.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:36 PM

awe heoll yea!!!

i love the way shockey quit on the pay after the int...

looking around like...wanh!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:36 PM

Is Sean Taylor back? Or was he taken back for x-rays?

Posted by: Principal SKINner | September 23, 2007 5:36 PM

How about Evans with the back peddaling?

Wow

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 5:37 PM

This #97 guy is killing us today.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:37 PM

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 5:38 PM

SHAZAM!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:39 PM

It's Good! That would have been a 50+ yarder...

Posted by: Principal SKINner | September 23, 2007 5:39 PM

SwissHam! Shazam!

I think I like Shazam! better. Has to have the exclamation point, though.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:39 PM

Solid half. Need to get some urgency I think in second half and keep pressure on.

Ward fellow is not helping us.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:40 PM

I think it needs two z's. Shazzam.

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 5:41 PM

Dane Cook is a deuchebag.

SeanTay was back playing. He seems fine.
Springs had a good half.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:42 PM

Nice call on that play review earlier, sfskin.

That was a booth review, wasn't it? (As opposed to a Coach Joe red flag?)

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:44 PM

Holy cow, what's going on in Denver today???

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:44 PM

Nope, Shazam is one z.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shazam

One of my all-time favorite comics. I think a movie just got greenlit.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:47 PM

P Diddy -

Maybe it is a karmic payback for that shabingus last week in Denver. (The very late timeout by Denver, negating the winning field goal by Oakland in overtime.)

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 5:47 PM

Great 1st half. And the Redskins got Bodiford back! Yay! They can still use more production of the receiver (not "The Receiver") position. I say give the kid a chance.

9/23 J. Geisinger, WAS, G Practice squad deletion
S. Bodiford, WAS, WR Practice squad addition

Posted by: Alan | September 23, 2007 5:49 PM

IS Portis ok?

Posted by: Karalynn | September 23, 2007 5:49 PM

Denver's problem? They need to sit Cutler on the bench and put in RAAAAAMMMMMSSSEEEEY!!!
That's right, get Patrick Ramsey in there and let him sling the ol' pigskin!

Posted by: Alan | September 23, 2007 5:55 PM

Looks bad for Portis; MRI time

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 5:55 PM

Tale of two halves for Plexiglass here...Defense needs to tighten up.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:57 PM

Fox still hasn't reported on the Portis injury...

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 5:59 PM

Once the news on Portis? He's out? Help need info!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 5:59 PM

Great drive by the Giants. The 'Skins need to answer with a drive of their own and give the D a chance to rest.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:01 PM

Beer bottles at the opera is a funny commercial.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:05 PM

Portis back in.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:06 PM

Portis is back.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:06 PM

Damn. 3 and out. Getting a wee bit nervous here...

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:07 PM

That was an ugly drive.

Posted by: Stumped | September 23, 2007 6:08 PM

Hmmm a bit sinking again . . .

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:09 PM

I may have to take up drinking while watching the Skins at this rate. Where's that bottle of cheap Lambrusco?

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:09 PM

GET OFF THE FIELD D!!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 6:11 PM

Shockey is eating Area 51 alive. God I hate that guy.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:12 PM

It might be time to start blitzing Eli and make him beat it.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:13 PM

SeanTay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:14 PM

Now THAT is the Eli Manning we know and love. Always good for one throw it up for grabs per game...

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:14 PM

Good call TM. I was wondering why we aren't/weren't pressuring more.

Phew

BTW what does TM stand for?

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:15 PM

taylor needs to teach rodgers how to catch...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 6:15 PM

G-men made great half-time adjustments. Using Shockey like Westbrook last week.

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:15 PM

I LOVE that Madden commercial :-)

Surely this means capitalism has triumphed completely. Hugo Chavez may want to take note.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:18 PM

Come on guys! Two straight 3 and outs. If it weren't for Eli, we'd be out of it.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:18 PM

grrrrr

I don't think my heart can take this.

Posted by: Principal SKINner | September 23, 2007 6:26 PM

time for a 3rd down stop for once eh!!!

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 6:27 PM

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:29 PM

bend don't break! keep the faith!

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 6:30 PM

Defense needs to make a play before this gets out of hand. Eli is looking sudddenly confident - not a good sign.

Posted by: TM | September 23, 2007 6:30 PM

Eeeeek, not liking the feeling of this game going into the fourth quarter. I'm wondering what was said to the Giants in their locker room at halftime.

Lets hope for a turnover here!

Posted by: swb | September 23, 2007 6:31 PM

D is playing great imo....O needs to step it up. How come everyone else can spot 40 on these guys and we struggle to get 20?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 6:32 PM

If it wasn't for our turnovers, we'd be down right now by like 17-3 (assuming the Gints tie this up right here...)

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:32 PM

'Skins Offense had 9 yards in the 3rd quarter.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 6:34 PM

>>> "How come everyone else can spot 40 on these guys and we struggle to get 20?"

Pretty simple, IMHO. We have a QB making his 10th career start.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:35 PM

Watch 'em hit Shockey right here.....

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:35 PM

FUMBLERUSKIE!!!

Posted by: Principal SKINner | September 23, 2007 6:36 PM

How many starts has Romo had, Diddy?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 6:36 PM

Down by contact.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:36 PM

Anybody else notice Springs playing safety on that last play?

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 6:36 PM

Sorry P Diddy, but Romo has how many starts? Like 13? The offense just isn't hitting on all cylinders.

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 6:37 PM

We're not gonna win this challenge

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | September 23, 2007 6:37 PM

F all the negative ninnies! There's plenty of "Joe Gibbs" football still to be played.

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 6:38 PM

What?!? Has there always been the elbow rule? I know stupid question but really?

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:38 PM

Yep, that'll be overturned.

The D can't seem to get off the field on 3rd downs in the second half. Can they make a stand here?

Posted by: swb | September 23, 2007 6:38 PM

Shti in a bucket!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:39 PM

we had a nice 2 1/2 game run, anyway.....

Posted by: Montana'Skins fan | September 23, 2007 6:40 PM

we can hold 'em

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 6:40 PM

On the bright side, the Receiver should be well rested for his usual late game heroics.

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 6:41 PM

Gah! Offense HAS to do something here.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 6:41 PM

durn it

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 6:42 PM

Elbow has always been down.

Posted by: Smith | September 23, 2007 6:42 PM

AARRRRGGHHHHHH

Posted by: Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:42 PM

Ok, the offense is well rested. I wanna see Portis and company ram it down their throats all the way down the field.

Posted by: swb | September 23, 2007 6:43 PM

Come on people. There's still 12 1/2 minutes of football to be played here and you're throwing the towel in? What kind of fans are you? Depicable!

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 6:43 PM

Thanks Smith. For some reason I thought it was elbow + contact to be down.

Okay time for some good juju.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:43 PM

What is up with Betts?? Only 5 carries??

Posted by: Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:44 PM

"Despicable" I meant

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 6:44 PM

3rd down efficiency 8-13 3-10

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 6:44 PM

Difference between Gibbs 1.0 and Gibbs 2.0....half-time adjustments.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 6:45 PM

bigfish - I'm not throwing in the towel cause I'm too busy chewing on it and covering my face.

I'm holding on but nerves are not doing well.

YEAH ROCK!! SWEET RETURN!!!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 6:45 PM

It is elbow (or anything) plus contact. If he had tripped and no one had touched him, its a different story.

Posted by: Smith | September 23, 2007 6:46 PM

Contender or Pretender will be decided right here in game 3 at home....

Posted by: talent evaluator | September 23, 2007 6:58 PM

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 6:58 PM

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 7:00 PM

Actually no! I am going to think postively!

GO SKINS! GO D!

We can do this! Plenty of time.

COME ON COME ON COME ON

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 7:01 PM

Plenty of time.

Get a good return. Then Soups is going to throw a few we'll get it. We'll make it.

Hail to the Redskins!

Come on!

WOOOOO!!!

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 7:02 PM

we have got to run the ball smartly - no gadget plays, just some smart running

Posted by: mmok | September 23, 2007 7:02 PM

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 7:03 PM

To fall behind to a terrible defense at home in a division game after a 14-3 halftime lead is just ridiculous!

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 7:03 PM

Time to score heap more. Or maybe just to tie it up.

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 7:04 PM

get the excuses ready feags....try this site to come up with stats to show that the Giants are actually a good team(which they are not)http://www.giants.com/

you guys suck, the way to beat the Giants is by scoring 45 points which is something that joe gibb's pathetic conservative offense cannot do

HAHAHAHAHA

Watch the Cowboys stomp the Bears tonight if you want to see a legit Super Bowl team

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 7:06 PM

Time for Cooley and Clinton.

Posted by: Pete in Atlanta | September 23, 2007 7:07 PM

These are more like the throw-up unis...

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 7:08 PM

Unfortunately, jason campbell will never play in my games. He is mediocre at best and 128 yards passing is an insult to my game. Don't worry, we have a permanent spot reserved for Tony Romo every year

Posted by: the pro bowl | September 23, 2007 7:08 PM

Punt this and play D.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 7:09 PM

Romo is just as inconsistent. Goes with the territory for a young QB.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 7:10 PM

tuck rule

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 7:10 PM

Right now, they're right about Romo being better. Until we prove it, they're right. No point in arguing the obvious...

Posted by: Montana'Skins Fan | September 23, 2007 7:11 PM

Hilarious. Lane Kiffin is a fast learner :-)

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 7:11 PM

And we'll be watching Romo getting stuffed by the Bears.

Posted by: HeeHeeHee | September 23, 2007 7:11 PM

Hey Montana, shut up.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 7:11 PM

Offensive play calling has been terrible this half. How do you keep your second best receiver in to block 1-on-1 v. Strahan? TEs have been killing the Giaints.

Posted by: LH | September 23, 2007 7:13 PM

I first watched the skins in 1982 when football reached the TV over here.

I have watched many skins games since then and can say that the 2nd half of tonights game has surpassed any other in complete ineptitude. Its so frustrating to see this garbage served up by your team.

Its clear they walked in at half time...thinking " job done".

And the reaction of Joe ( untouchable ) Gibbs, as his team plays awfully and without emotion or much effort, well impassive and emotionless is the most polite I can say.

God its utter crap and hardly worth the fact its gone midnight here,,, If thats the best they can offer well we are in trouble !!!!

Posted by: Ian :London UK | September 23, 2007 7:14 PM

Posted by: gad | September 23, 2007 7:27 PM

Weird Al calls the gameplan. And, I wouldn't call it conservative per se. They take big shots downfield quite a bit. Campbell hit 2 out of 3 of them today. As Campbell matures, they'll let him loose more.

Posted by: P Diddy | September 23, 2007 7:28 PM

I really thought we were gonna pull that out - oh well, it's done - let's move on.

bad coaching hurrying the 4th down. Total and absolute hysteria by the coaching staff.

Okay, the 'Skins went 2-0 against teams that are now 1-5.

They lost to an 0-2 team.

Pretenders.

Portis was probably hurt again ... no training camp remember?

Cooley should give half that check back he is the worst pass blocker. Strahan was eating him for lunch.

Portis would have scored on both of those running plays...Betts gets off the ball too slow WHY WAS PORTIS ON THE BENCH?

Posted by: Leevi | September 23, 2007 7:30 PM

Jason rushed that last series. No reason to spike on first down (that already gave me a stomach ache).

On fourth down, no reason to rush to the line and rush to get the play off. Plenty of time and no play after it in any case.

Young quarterback.

Old fan. Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.

geez, anon. If you are gonna give up the season after one loss, that's pretty pathetic.

0028am in London and Gibbs and his over priced offensive minds call rubbish at the 2 yard line.... Its simply not good enough !!!

It really doesnt even seem to matter to Joe, show some emotion just to prove you are still alive !!!

Posted by: Ian London UK | September 23, 2007 7:30 PM

Bad coaching all around...

4 plays to get 2 yards and Redskins get Stuffed....

Stop throwing to Sellers...he drop more passes than catch them.

Put Portis in the game...even if he did fumble earlier.

Fire Al Saunders.

Posted by: Bad Football | September 23, 2007 7:31 PM

complete fing meltdown in the 2nd half. they don't run the ball all game and then give it to betts on the same ineffective play 2x in a row!!!! Wierd al needs to check himself!

Posted by: nah | September 23, 2007 7:31 PM

Okay here is the thing. We're 2-1 going into the bye which I think most of us thought we'd be.

This game showed everything that is right with us and absolutely everything that is still bad.

2nd half was nothing but complete shti on offense and while the defense did what it could it gave up way too many 3rd downs.

So I will say we are where I thought we'd be even though we're not where I'd hoped we'd be after first 2 games.

My silver lining - we have a bye week. That last drive showed what we can do and showed that unlike last year we were there until the very end. Not saying much in light of the steaming pile o'crap we laid the rest of the half but it's something.

We got it handed to us and that's probably a good thing cause now we have to keep playing the underdog and that's where we're at our best.

2 steps forward 1 step back - you know what I'll take it.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 7:31 PM

I know they didn't think Betts was as good as Portis!

Posted by: 4th via Home Floor | September 23, 2007 7:31 PM

You guys looked VERY impressive on offense and defense in the first half. Second half was classic gibbs 2.0(meaning conservative, losing football)

Campbell is legit, defense(esp fletcher, landry, springs and macintosh) is legit and CPortis is legit but was out of the game for some reason. That was tough, those losses come back to bite you in the ass later on

Posted by: Cowboys fan | September 23, 2007 7:32 PM

We knew the Gints would score points. They just played two teams prior that could score more.

This loss is on the O. Nevertheless, Campbell played like a champ; I love that kid.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 7:32 PM

play-calling in the second half was atrocious this game. too many screen passes and too many trick plays called.

and our best back, BY FAR, not in on the go ahead plays.

the only thing else i can say is, carlos rogers needs to be benched. the guy is just not good.

in all fairness to the giants though, their offense dominated our defense, and exposed our not so good passing d. if plax hadn't dropped a few of those wide open passes in hte first half, they would've beaten us by 2 or 3 tds.

Posted by: JC | September 23, 2007 7:32 PM

You can say what you want...But losing to the Giants ...who looked awful in their first two games and to have them at home comeback on us makes us look like a JOKE!

Posted by: Leevi | September 23, 2007 7:33 PM

They ARE, who we THOUGHT they were!

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | September 23, 2007 7:34 PM

Bye Weeek is not a silver lining...it would be if you are 3-0

When you CHOKE because of Gibbs and Saunders, going into Bye week is sickening

Posted by: Bye Week | September 23, 2007 7:34 PM

cant believe it....
first of all, no reason to spike the ball.
so automatically lose a down.
second down...pass?!?! gotta run.
3rd and 4th down...gotta freakin PASS ON BOTH DOWNS....goodness...so many bad play calls during that WHOLE DRIVE...no need to EVER spike when you have ONE MINUTE left on the clock. freakin ridiculous.

wow, this is so disappointing. i wish they woulda just thrown an INT so we wouldnt have had to witness such a BLEEP-ing debacle at the BLEEPING goalline.

Posted by: kman | September 23, 2007 7:34 PM

Portis caughed up the ball on two key plays (failing to make that catch on 3rd and 6 and then botching the hand off). Portis was EXACTLY where he needed to be at the end of the game--on the sideline.

Posted by: Icarus | September 23, 2007 7:34 PM

Gagged, sucked, chocked!
Our beloved team played scared in that entire second half!

Looked like scared boys in their eyes on the bench.

Posted by: Redskin Ray | September 23, 2007 7:34 PM

We all know the Giants were not going to go 0-16.

Just look what the Iggles did today. This is the NFC East, guys. We are 2-1 into the bye.

HTTR!!!

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 7:35 PM

F Joe Gibbs, go F yourself. He can't go out and play the game, did he fumble, did he trip over his lead blocker? Get a life...

Posted by: Anonymous | September 23, 2007 7:35 PM

Hey Cowboys fans get the F out of here NOBODY cars what your opinion is...YOU GUYS HAVE NOT WON A PLAYOFFS GAME IN 11 or 12 Years and you act like your team just won the SB last year...Take your asses on ..with your over rated QB abd no defense team and worry about youyr own game tonight when the Bears put your Offense back to reality!

Posted by: Leevi | September 23, 2007 7:36 PM

Jason showed his youth; lost his poise.

Where was the OL?
Absolutely no push in the second half.
Giants were men, we were boys!
Agonizing to watch!
We are grossly over-rated!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | September 23, 2007 7:37 PM

i guess they shoulda given it to cp and let him make up for is two bumbles...

seriously though...put some f'n receivers in the end zone...

i dont know why we spiked it with 50 seconds left...

coulda huddled and had plenty of time for 4 passing plays...

Posted by: deadskin | September 23, 2007 7:37 PM

Maybe they can practice plays to run when there are no timeouts.

Instead of spiking the ball on 1st & Goal at THE FREAKIN 2, why dosen't Campbell just QB SNEAK THE FREAKIN BALL. They were in Dime package. We could have gotten it.

Ok, I'm threw. Portis is now cheating the 'skins out of there $$$.....

Posted by: 4th via Home Floor | September 23, 2007 7:39 PM

i agrees with letting al saunders go after this season.

i think the offensive game plan 2 seasons ago was just as good if not better than last year and this year. the difference then was no 2nd receiver and a QB who couldn't throw more than 20 yards and was afraid to get hit. campbell is is a perfect fit for gibbs-style play calling.

and yes, we are 2-1 which is good. but we had a real chance to be 30, and the fact that bad in-game play-calling and TERRIBLE clock management cost us that chance is disturbing.

it's one thing to get beaten cuz the other team has more talent. it's not a good sign when it happens cuz of better coaching, especially if that coaching is the most expensive in the league, and also managing your team. this is 2 weeks in a row bad in-game management under stress has happened. we lucked out against the eagles, but got what we deserved today.

Posted by: JC | September 23, 2007 7:39 PM

Dammit, twas a trap!

It's all good though-- we definitely have a solid team and some stuff to work on. Gints got a groove, we played like crap in the second half-- no excuses.

I agree, Betts on those last 2 rushes was a bad call. Why not Mikey? Or QB sneak it?

Where was Cooley the 2nd half??

Disappointing loss for sure, but I think we'll come off the bye week with guns blazing.

So, for tonight, I'm taking my Redskins hat off and put on my Bears one (shudder). Go Bears!? I guess?!??

Posted by: TDawg | September 23, 2007 7:39 PM

F'it guys. Just a football game. We'll see hundreds more in our life time.

Posted by: God Damn It, but Still | September 23, 2007 7:40 PM

passing from the two to Sellers at the one?
What good was that when he was totally covered?

Played like girls in 2nd half.
At one time it was 12-0 in first downs for the second half.
Man-handled, sickening.
We woosed out

Redskin Ray, you call that last drive losing his poise? That kid had serious poise-- bad play calling at the end, but certainly no lack of poise. He stood tall and fired away.

Posted by: TDawg | September 23, 2007 7:40 PM

I guess my point is this. There isn't much most of you are saying that I disagree with except the Gibbs hater.

And I know that right now we all feel like we have felt so often for the last 15 years.

But and maybe I'm being a pollyanna here, I think we are on the upswing. I think the Philly game showed what we are capable of and this game showed how far we still have to go.

I'm sure I'll do some piling on this week as well as I hash it out in my head and on replay etc. but after so many years of gut wrenching disappointment I'm gonna hold on and yes I am going to keep on drinking the Kool Aid.

Posted by: sfskin | September 23, 2007 7:40 PM

Personally, given all of the mistakes, the revamped OL. The lack of blocking skills on the part of Cooley (and you ask why they kept "Cordy Body") Campbell really was impressive! Much more impressive than Eli Manning.

A loss at home to a divisional rival is A KILLER! Even at this point in the season.

Bottom line: Skins offense is and was a work in progress. They will need this bye to put the offense and especially the OL back together.

Bottom line: The defensive backfield played was mixed. When thye went to the reserves like Macklin they got beat even by an injured Burress. Rogers did not have a good game. Springs, Taylor had great games. Landry was mediocre. Linebacking played well except in coverage. Bltizes were ineffective. The only effective consistent pass rusher was Carter. Well worth it unlike Brandon Lloyd.

At this point Lloyd is taking up a spot that they could use to get another guard, another DL. The roster needs to absolutely to rid itself of that guy somehow.

In spite of the problems on offense, the penalties, the blown up plays ... in spite of all of that when the chips were down, when you need to get it done CAMPBELL CAME THROUGH. HE IS IMPRESSIVE. He might be the very best passer this O has had since Christian Adolph Jurgenson. No one but Sonny could do those sort of come-from-behind, 4th down heroics against intimidating odds and adversity. SOUPS IS THE REAL DEAL and we are so "SJK"ing lucky to have that guy on our team. You guys have no idea what we have here ... sheesh I hope I don't jinx him by saying it ... like a sudden injury. He is a great one in the making.

Posted by: periculum | September 23, 2007 7:41 PM

And here comes Green Bay and New England in next 4 games.

At this point, Lions and Cardinals can beat the Redskins easily.

Another rough season...at least we felt good for 2 weeks this year.

Posted by: Depressed | September 23, 2007 7:41 PM

I'm with you, sfskin. 3-0 might've gotten rid of the doomsayers, which motivate our boys.

I think we have a LOT of GOOD to work with. Throw in the coalesced O-Line and Caldwell after the bye week and I think we'll be 3-1 by the end of week 4.

Posted by: TDawg | September 23, 2007 7:42 PM

Ladies,Ladies, Ladies
Only you idiots who drank way to much koolaide didnt dealize how Sucky the redskinettes are!

Posted by: PRETENDERS | September 23, 2007 7:42 PM

I go back further. I was reminded of Sonny throwing amazing pass after pass ... I wonder how much he has talked to Campbell? And back then the losing at times could be a lot worst. You have no idea how spoiled everyone became after Gibbs took over ...

Posted by: periculum | September 23, 2007 7:43 PM

Jason made some good throws yes, TDAWG.
But he also gave aways two downs at the end; gave them away; you can't do that.
Good grief spike it from the 2?
Try to hit somebody in the zone you know, only five yards away?

Posted by: Redskin Ray | September 23, 2007 7:43 PM

Just finished walking in 38 circles outside my apartment, chain-smoking after the end of that. Guh.

I HATE to see Gibbs reduced to an ineffectual figurehead.

Allowing Al Saunders' stupid KC-style playcalling -- all game but especially at the end.

Failing to have enough control over HIS team to manage the clock better than a high school team.

Pathetic.

Thanks a lot, Cindy, after Weird Al I blame you. No way we lose . . .

Coach Gibbs. Institutional control. Learn it, love it.

One loss and you're throwing in the towel??

Shame on you. HTTR, mothasuckas.

Posted by: TDawg | September 23, 2007 7:44 PM

I disagree with having Portis on the sideline. Let him make up for his mistakes. He gives you the best chance to get the ball in the end zone. Does Portis trip over the legs of his own blockers, I dont think so. Having Portis sitting on the sideline with game and 2 to go was REDICULOUS!

Posted by: monkalicious | September 23, 2007 7:44 PM

You can only dodge the, "I wet my pants and fín panic everytime the clock read 2 minutes or less" so long.

F the offense. They owe the D an appology. Don't hate on the D, they were exhausted that second half. '

Poor John from Herdon. Talk to you all friday.
