Redskins Insider, by Jason La Canfora Redskins Insider

Inactives - Moss Out

Moss is out - Thrash starts
Golston, Macklin, Boyd, Boschetti DeMulling Thomas are also out.
(Golston more of a run stuffer and this is a pass-first team; only going with 7 D Linemen in this game, Lorenzo Alexander active for first time and the other back up D Line rush the passer - Chris Wilson's (whose speed could lead to him being on the field much more than normal, and Demetric Evans).

So the new WRs - McCardell and Caldwell- are both active.

Calvin Johnson is up for the Lions. TJ Duckett is out

Super Smart on the Skins part. Now, we should start Brunell.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 11:57 AM

No DJ is sad.
A chance to evaluate
Next 4th round pick, gone.

Posted by: HaikuMan | October 7, 2007 12:02 PM

*typo above: TJ, not DJ. Opps.

Posted by: HaikuMan | October 7, 2007 12:03 PM

Where's everybody at? This is a weak showing for a pregame blog.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 12:23 PM

Get the door. It's Domino's!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:32 PM

You're right, Fish. Where IS everybody? This is a HUGE game. Hamsters don't hybernate, do they?

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:33 PM

What's the over/under on the number of concussions Kitna gets today?

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 12:35 PM

Good question. I'm overcaffeinated. I'm chanting "Marty! Marty! Marty!" for no good reason.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:37 PM

Roll call?

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 12:38 PM

Looks like you, Fish, me, Smith and the crickets. I believe 'Ku is here, too, but he's probably working on some poetry.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:41 PM

Speaking of poets....
PARIS (AP) -- Dylan Thomas beat Youmzain by a nose Sunday to give trainer Aidan O'Brien his first victory at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Europe's most prestigious horse race.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:42 PM

Skins better put pressure on Kitna or he will throw for a country mile.

Also, he has 3 4thQ come-from-behinds this year, so conditioning/TOP will be critical.

Posted by: GAD | October 7, 2007 12:42 PM

I agree. Pressing Kitna is crucial. If he has all day...well, it'll be a long day.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:44 PM

We shall find out shortly GAD. I got my Kool Aid and I'm ready to go.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 12:45 PM

I started Portis today in fantasy. I have a feeling he'll have a big day. We control the ball, we win.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 12:47 PM

I'm prepared for a shootout.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 12:52 PM

I'm prepared for a pukefest.

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | October 7, 2007 12:55 PM

So excited. Bye weeks suck.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 12:57 PM

Alright! Let's go Skins! We're gonna win!
We're gonna win! We're gonna win!

SHUT UP Dane Cook!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 12:59 PM

Dane Cook got overexposed faster than the Lions secondary.

Ugh. I think that joke needed a little more work.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:01 PM

Diddy, have you ordered the Oreos pizza??? This is the most important facet of the team's preparation.
Skins are always strong off a bye week, but Lions' 0-20 record here worries me.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:01 PM

89 Degrees! GLOBAL WARMING!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:03 PM

Cindy, the Lucky Oreo Pizza is on the way!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:03 PM

Bug Eyes in the game on 2nd and short, 3-wide set.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:04 PM

This is it right? The Receiver is done?

Shoot I think I had game 11 on the pool.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:04 PM

Pride is on the line
Cubs to chase that Kittena
Down go the Lions

Posted by: LH | October 7, 2007 1:05 PM

Paris Lenon? Now that's a name that belongs in West Hollywood, not the NFL. 3rd and long...Portis with the conversion! Wheeee.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:06 PM

Uh-oh. Portis limping.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:06 PM

OH no! CP limping off already

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:07 PM

Thrash wins the "which happens first" pool.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:07 PM

Oooh Soups missed ARE over the middle there.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:08 PM

He seemed fine on the sidelines. It's ridiculously hot and humid here, for those of you in other places.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:08 PM

Still no results running right. Only one screen right, Fabini with a good block, but that's it so far...

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:09 PM

We're settin up the long ball. Settin' up the long ball. Doo dah doo dah

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:10 PM

Portis back. The camerawork on this game is hideous!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:10 PM

Hooray CP's back!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:10 PM

Ugh.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:11 PM

I'm gonna poke my eyes out. Gonna poke my eyes out. doo dah doo dah

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:11 PM

Portis had no idea that snap was coming to him. Maybe they shoulda told him.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:11 PM

The camera work is horrendous. The camera man keeps getting faked out.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:12 PM

We've totally got the C-list camera crew on this game.

Cindy, you got yourself a commercial from Southwest. Are you ecstatic?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:12 PM

portis owes us a few after this and his bumbles againts the gmen...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:12 PM

WTF??? More of that wierd Al trickery. If only the players knew what was going on...

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | October 7, 2007 1:12 PM

I wonder if they're using Sony cameras. I'm watching on a Samsung and you know what Peyton says about watching on the same teevee the camera crew uses...

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:13 PM

Typical Joe Gibbs 2.0 start for the Redskins...

Shoot yourself in the foot. Find a way to lose Key games. Not make the playoffs.

Post Game: Joe Gibbs say "well we lost to detroit but everyone played hard."

Rinse and repeat next week.

FIRE GIBBS

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 1:13 PM

Beyond ecstatic! And they'll let me bring my Oreos pizza on board.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:14 PM

Portis is supersmart

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

C'mon D

Posted by: Mofass | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

Sheesh we've got the C list ding dong broadcasters too.

"Big match-up: Offensive coordinator vs. Defensive coordinator."

Ah yes how observant!

WEEE GRIFFIN!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

This D line is stepping up!

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

Defense stiffens and holds. Lions have to punt.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

shwiiiing!

uh...that was 4 and out not 3 and out...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:15 PM

I'll have more of that please and keep it coming.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:16 PM

Ugh. They do this every game in the initial drive! It goes well and then Gibbs or whomever has to get cute.

Sincerely,

Lifelong Fan Who Can't Watch Much More of THIS

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:16 PM

Randle El is supersmart too...nice fumble.

already 2 fumbles today. We're headed for 5 fumbles 3 lost stat line.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:17 PM

Way to use "whomever" incorrectly.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 1:17 PM

Don't diss the announcers. Bad karma. The god of football booths might give the next game to Kornheiser.

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:18 PM

these guys are almost as bad as the guys doing the maryland game...doc walker wasnt too bad but his partner was pathetic...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:18 PM

Umm guys can we hold back on negative nellieisms till at least the second quarter?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:18 PM

Just hand it to Sellers all day. That'll soften them up and keep their offense off the field.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:19 PM

I'm a huge fan of "forward thrust".

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:20 PM

A bomb to Thrash. Come on now. Get real.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:20 PM

well at least we tried to stretch the field...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:20 PM

as I'm in NYC, anyone have any idea of something better than redskins radio online (which is totally out of sync w/ the game) for keeping up with it (besides finding a sports bar somewhere)

Posted by: SP | October 7, 2007 1:20 PM

Ed Hochuli! Awesome! Sign him up for Right Guard and we're all set.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:21 PM

Ed Hoculi is working the game!!!!!!!!!!! He is MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!! Look at those guns!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:21 PM

Hochuli is looking a little pudgy. Has he stopped going to the gym 10 hours a day?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:21 PM

Gawd this is an ugly game. Are we watching the local high school highlights?

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | October 7, 2007 1:22 PM

Este partido va estar muy muy feo.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:22 PM

It's almost the 2nd quarter and I can't take it anymore.

Can someone on our team make a play?

Posted by: 5 cent | October 7, 2007 1:22 PM

Good thing the Redskins don't play in DC because Hochuli would be breaking the law with those guns.
I had to get that off my chest.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:22 PM

So, McCardell and Bug Eyes BOTH get in the game before Receiver, The. Any questions about the dog house now? St. Joe doesn't need to say anything at all about this guy...his actions speak for themselves.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:23 PM

Woohoo....Go Jason Campbell. Nice trip up on your own back field.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 1:23 PM

3 passes....1 yard.

Now that's Redskins smashmouth football.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | October 7, 2007 1:23 PM

Waaah...for the first time evah, I'm starting to really wonder about Campbell. He looks like a complete idiot out there and this is not the world's greatest DEF he's facing.

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:23 PM

Estoy de acuerdo, sfskin

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:24 PM

Hochuli is The Man. Love that guy. Great explanation.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:25 PM

Breathe deeply. It's early.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:25 PM

Time for T. Collins

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:25 PM

It sucks that the only positive thing I have to say is about the SJKing ref.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:26 PM

To many early mistakes. Can't keep this up.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:27 PM

Dang it...Kitna almost had him.

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 1:27 PM

Hey we are getting pressure on Kitna more than we have other games.

Joe Gibbs 2.0 Fired at end of season

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 1:28 PM

5 cent and 10 cent? Inflation?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:28 PM

Tom Collins goes well with Oreos pizza.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:28 PM

dats right!

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 1:29 PM

Guys...it's still the first quarter. Let's not go nuts here.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:29 PM

I guess Gibbs can join you bagging groceries then, 10 cent.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:30 PM

SJK SJK SJK SJK the camerawork on this game is HORRIBLE.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:31 PM

I think that was a great play. Unfortunately, the cameraman missed it.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:31 PM

nice play rodgers!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

Let's talk about how HORRIBLE the camera man is

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

Seriously, if they picked one Skins fan, at random, from the stands, he/she/it could do a better job with the camera.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

After the Giants game, I've earned the right to go as nuts as I want.

Just once, I'd like to see a statement game instead of one that has me popping my Heinieken before 1 PM.

I'll be in rehab if this continues.

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

Alright, that's the worst Apple commercial ever.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

I deliver pizzas you ingrate.

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 1:32 PM

how can these guys not make those catches???

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:33 PM

Sam Adams Octoberfest - Hmmmm! I love this time of year.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:33 PM

WOOOHOOO defense! And thank gawd for replay. Who's the cameraman? Rupert Murdoch's grandson?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:33 PM

This is not the shootout we expected. So far at least.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:34 PM

I'm glad you all saw it... (or didn't)

I jumped up and ran to get my laptop to tell the world about it...

WORST CAMERA MAN EVER.

(in the Comic Book guy voice)

I film high school games on Friday night and it really isn't that hard!

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 1:34 PM

Wow, ARE is an exciting little guy, isn't he?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:34 PM

So I am listening to XXX Radio play by play and every single break they take for ever not getting back to the game until I have missed plays each break!!

Who do I contact about this?
Ridiculous!!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:35 PM

Bigfish, bingo!! But the playcalling has to reflect that. And it hasn't.

I'm still recovering from that handoff to Portis. That's high school nonsense.

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:35 PM

When you have a moment watch this it is absolutely classic!
Thanks Outside.

there is a video about you all..

It's a free feed, Ray. You don't have a lot of leverage :)

Posted by: karalynn | October 7, 2007 1:36 PM

I love ARE but for once I would like to see him run straight up the field instead of twitching 5 times and getting tackled where he got the ball.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:36 PM

I'm fairly certain "MILF Island" is a better show than "Don't Forget the Lyrics".

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:37 PM

Looks like the camera guy has the delirium tremors.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:38 PM

Nice pass Soups!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:39 PM

nice...streatch that sheot out...open in the middle...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:39 PM

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:40 PM

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLEY

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:41 PM

Free yes, but advertised as an audio broadcast of the game...
this today is a broadcast of some of the game.

for example I missed the Lions first entire possession.

NFL.com is showing me 1st down pass to ARE!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:41 PM

Oy, did you see the knee Trent Green took to his melon? My man, Cleolemon, must be in!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:41 PM

Run right just for shti and gigs and to change it up.

ARE nice catches! Please run up the field not down.

COOOOLLEEEYY!!!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:41 PM

Betts meet Sims. Ouch!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:41 PM

ARE really stepping up today.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:42 PM

MILF Island! "25 superhot moms, 50 eighth graders, no rules."

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:42 PM

Time to get Lloyd in.

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 1:42 PM

What are the ribbons coaches are wearing?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:43 PM

Is Cleo Lemon related to Liz Lemon? "Hey, LizLemon!"

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:43 PM

Ribbons: Is it the annual autism game?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:44 PM

Isn't Beck Green's backup?

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 1:44 PM

sfskin - It's for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:44 PM

October is breast cancer awareness month, hence the ribbons.
Cleolemon and Lizlemon are, indeed, related.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:44 PM

COOOLEY!

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:45 PM

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:45 PM

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLEY! TD!

For the record: I am all for breast awareness.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:45 PM

Ah, they're celebrating at Vixens!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:46 PM

COOOOOOOLLLLLEEEYYYYYY

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:46 PM

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That Cooley pass for TD is a thing of beauty!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:46 PM

Hail to the Redskins

Posted by: Mofass | October 7, 2007 1:46 PM

Campbell bulleted that in there. Cooley has been a TD machine this year.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:46 PM

Ah! So it's Breast Cancer awareness month and Hispanic Heritage month. What else?

Please please please tell me ManBoobs has one on.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:47 PM

JC has the most yards passing in the league at the moment.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:48 PM

Should we keep St. Joe, or did we fire him already?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:48 PM

I think it's about time FOX got rid of that stupid robot football player.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:48 PM

"Touchdown Washington Redskins"!!!!!
Frank Herzog

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:48 PM

Gints just tied it up.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:49 PM

He was rehired about five minutes ago. You took a little mental trip to MILF Island.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:49 PM

So offense is giving the d the rest they earned in the Gints game.

Let's hope they keep going.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:49 PM

According to the sign at my local Safeway, September was Hispanic Heritage Month. Now that it's October, we can go back to marginalizing and ignoring them. This month, we have to all go around inspecting breasts. Tough job, but I'm up for it.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:49 PM

Joe G was last seen in the owner's box talking about his awareness of breast cancer.

Posted by: 5 cent | October 7, 2007 1:50 PM

Former Redskin and a favorite of mine Trent Green just suffered another concussion, he was strapped down and carted out on a stretcher.

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:50 PM

Ah man, poor Green. He needs to hang up the cleats.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:52 PM

D'oh!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:52 PM

Now that we have the lead I can take a nap and Gregg can just play prevent all day.

Posted by: Joe Gibbs | October 7, 2007 1:52 PM

Way to get that fumble!

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 1:52 PM

out time of possession is sick right now...

like 17min to 5

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 1:53 PM

Yeah. He took a knee to the helmet. Last time Maske talked to him, he said how aware he was that one more hit and he'd have to quit. Wonder if this is it.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:53 PM

Defense holds! Lions forced to punt!

Gussy with a TD! How about that!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:54 PM

got to create TO's D!!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:54 PM

Tough break for Trent Green. Seems like a classy dude. I hope he's okay.

Let's take this commercial break to bask in Jack Donaghy's brilliance: "America's Next Top Pirate," "Are You Stronger Than A Dog?", and "MILF Island."

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:55 PM

If ARE would just run the damn ball on a punt return instead of trying 50 jukes he may actually get 10 or more yards at least.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 1:55 PM

Put a jersey on me... I can fall on a fumble.

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 1:56 PM

Cyn Cyty - I'm guessing you like me much prefer the hamburger family to the King.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:56 PM

Jack Donaghy is a broadcasting visionary.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:56 PM

Gary Clark is in the booth w/ Sonny, Sam and Larry.

Hey "the receiver" we need tough WR like Gary Clark not a prima donna like you!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 1:56 PM

Did I just see Seinfeld under center?

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:57 PM

WTF formation was that??? Awesome! Weird Al, I will never quit you.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:57 PM

Sellers is a beast when he's blocking.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 1:57 PM

Sellers is having a good game - go Cleo!!!

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 1:58 PM

So, Receiver, The is active (with a bruised shin no less) and DeMulling and Macklin (extra DB) are not? Hmmm?

Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 1:58 PM

THIS is Joe Gibbs Football. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Now...can they put this game away or will they SJK it up?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:58 PM

Seinfeld missed a tackle on that last play.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 1:59 PM

I think they just ran pgs 764 and 792 with JC and Sellars.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 1:59 PM

Bingo, SF! I do, secretly, hope one of the kids in the Wendy's pigtails hooks up with the king.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 1:59 PM

And, the answer is...they'll SJK it up.

THIS is Joe Gibbs 2.0 football.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 1:59 PM

Okay, "The Comebacks" may be the best excuse I've had since Friday to drink heavily.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:01 PM

Holy F that was awesome!

ARE! To the 1! On 4th and 2! ARE! Awesome!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:02 PM

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:03 PM

Lav Coles just made a circus catch. Wish we still had that Jetskin.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:03 PM

WE WENT FOR IT?!?!?

WOOOOOOO!!!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:03 PM

Gibbs grows Cajones!

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 2:03 PM

right f'n on!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:03 PM

ARE has 100 yards already.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:04 PM

Lions defense is a joke..

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 2:04 PM

My fantasy team needs a TD from CP!!!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:04 PM

SC - what game are you watching? Coles? Nah we've got ARE!!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:04 PM

Crap on the 1 yard line 2 min offense, we should spike it

Posted by: Mofass | October 7, 2007 2:04 PM

Lions defense is a joke..

Posted by: | October 7, 2007 02:04 PM

Easy for you to say.

Posted by: Da Bears | October 7, 2007 2:05 PM

Skins have been shaky on the goal line thus far this year....

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:05 PM

gibbs went for it because he knows this Lions defense cant even stop Garfield HS

Posted by: tu madre | October 7, 2007 2:05 PM

Can anyone stop Sellers? No.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:05 PM

That's what we needed against the Giants.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

I don't know if the MVP of the first half should be ARE or Sellers.

Posted by: Smith | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

sellers would have scored both times if he tried against giants 2 weeks ago

Posted by: k-man | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

Yeah! Another half-time lead to blow in the second half!!

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

Touchdown Washington Redskins!!
Frank Herzog

Sellars now the short yardage back after the NYG fiasco???

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

Finally, we get past page five of the Al Saunders playbook.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

2 TD lead goin into the second half, were safe, no way we could blow a lead like that.

Posted by: Mofass | October 7, 2007 2:06 PM

Think this is what Sellars was saying to fans:

"See ya should'a given it to me against the Giants! To me MUTHAS!"

WOOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOOOO

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:07 PM

Ug, I don't mean to Jinx things, but this feels like the Giants game all over again...

Wonder what Gibbs is going to say to them at the half?

Al Saunders, if you're reading this... KEEP RUNNING THE BALL.

ATTACK YOU IDIOT!

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 2:07 PM

I dont have the 'Skins game, sfskins. I'm stuck with Carolina-Nawlins on Fox, and Jets-Gints on CBS.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:07 PM

Looks like the cameraman is sobering up.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:08 PM

'Skins ball!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:08 PM

Larry just said

"Redskins were up 14 points at the half two weeks ago; lets see if things work out differntly today."

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:09 PM

stick the dagger in!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:09 PM

Sonny just said,

"Do you think Joe Gibbs will have anything to say about being up 14 at halftime?"

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:10 PM

Another TD before the half would be nice. Come on Killer Gibbs.

Daniels looks hurt. Is that really a bad thing??

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:10 PM

SC - gotcha. That sucks. Well we're up 14-0 on Lions on two super long drives and we just recovered a fumble.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:10 PM

It's not about running the ball or passing the ball (BALANCE!), it's about sticking to the gameplan and not getting conservative. Play to win, ATTACK YOU IDIOT! Don't play to not lose. In football (and in life), you have to play to win.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:11 PM

thanks sf. Im "watching" the skins on NFL Game Center. Not listening to XXX because the delay is too annoying, and they have commercials running half way through a drive. Weird.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:12 PM

We've been giving Fox SJK all game for their crappy camerawork, but great job on that replay.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:12 PM

Okay if the ball is ours then yeah STICK it to them!!
I'm guessing if we went for it on 4th and 2 then we're gonna take a shot . . . right? Please.

Wonder if other refs hate working with Big Guns Hochuli.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:12 PM

Playing not to lose, and playing to win, in football, are the same. Unless you are trying to tie.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 2:13 PM

Iffy on this call...Rocky's knee hits the ball while his hand is out of bounds. Tough call...

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:14 PM

Redcoats 'Fins are takin' it to the Texans. Wonder if they get off the schnide this week.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:14 PM

Ed hockuli sucks

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

Hochuli once again nails it. Love that dude.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

Okay Fox commentators just did a nice job breaking that down.

Come on D!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

sonny and sam are right - weak!

Posted by: Johh D in Houston | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOO - Another bad call!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

I don't care how Ed Hochuli explains it... there's always some little detail that negates us from getting the fumble.

ALWAYS

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

Making lemonade out of Cleolemon!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

what...two hands touching the ground doesnt reestablish possession?

i guess the ball hitting his knee happened first...

bummer!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:15 PM

I'm sorry, but is the ref really saying that there was INDISPUTABLE evidence that McIntosh did not re-establish himself in bounds. I think that he is over-officiating. Just let the call on the field stand in those instances.

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 2:16 PM

L2! Wow. He's "super bright".

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:16 PM

That's the right call, but ouch.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:16 PM

THE RON!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:16 PM

Daniels hurt?

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:16 PM

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:17 PM

Double post in honor of double move...

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | October 7, 2007 2:17 PM

That's Gibbs football! Just take a knee and pray!

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

Why does Detroit call TO here? Sigh.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

SC - Daniels went into lockeroom so we don't know what is going on. His arm/shoulder got caught as his body kept going out of bounds. Could be a stinger or could be bad.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

thanks lions...

lets run it again cause we can...let them call another time out...and then get agressive...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

Whats wrong with Daniels?

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

I'm sayin' nothing about that Texans game.

That said I think Trent may have thrown his last pass in the NFL which would mean he would only cost us a 5th next year.

Boy the Lions are stinking the place up aren't they? The Skins are playing well on both sides of the ball so far.

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:18 PM

Everybody see Receiver, The on the sideline next to St. Joe? He's like a puppy. So cute.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:19 PM

thanks sf =]

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:19 PM

That's Joe Gibbs 2.0 right there. Ugh

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:20 PM

Yup...up 14 at half and headed for another crushing 2nd half loss...

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 2:20 PM

playing vs. one of the worst D in the NFL and Coach Joe reveals the staff has no real confidence in JC to run a 2:00 drill to get 3 more!!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:21 PM

Gratz on the lead, Redcoat. Who is in at QB for the 'Fins?

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:21 PM

Not sure why CP didn't keep going out on that run, following Cooley's block.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:21 PM

It would be super smart to just take a knee on all 2nd half possessions and pray the Lions keep playing poorly.

Posted by: SuperSmart | October 7, 2007 2:22 PM

Fall on the SJKSJK ball!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Pulldownclaw | October 7, 2007 2:22 PM

Could someone please tighten up Andre Carters chin straps. His helmet has come off 2-3 times already?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:23 PM

Up 14 at half
Lions have Skins right where they want
Gibbs must grow a pair!

Posted by: HaikuMan | October 7, 2007 2:23 PM

im guessing that if CP had gottent the first we woulda gone into the 2min drill...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:23 PM

Cleo "Melon" Lemon is our new QB, SC.

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:23 PM

fall on the ball

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:24 PM

I'm Superproud of our Supersmart D in the 1st half. Keep it up guys. Fight your guts out. It's going to take 4 quarters from every swinging soul.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:24 PM

Here is what I want to hear from locker room now:

BALANCE
BALANCE
BALANCE

WE'VE DONE NOTHIN' UP HERE!
WE'VE GOTTA PLAY OUR GUTS OUT!
WE NEED EVERY SWINGIN SOUL 2ND HALF!

*chair thrown*

Jets have 1st and goal at Junts 16.

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:25 PM

R. Brown has 11 carries for 63 yards and a TD. Looking good, RC!

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:28 PM

It's lookin good so far. I must admit I'm impressed. If they make adjustments, I just hope the Skins do too.

Posted by: SkinsRealist | October 7, 2007 2:28 PM

way to go manning!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:29 PM

Jets score!
Jets get the INT at their 28!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:29 PM

LBM is 3/10 for 22 yards and a pick.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:29 PM

giants havent done anything in the air...down by 7...they get the ball with 28 seconds in the half and should just run out the clock and regroup...manning forces a pass and throws int...

jets get fg opty...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:30 PM

Soups 16/19 171 yards! Wowee Zowee When was the last time we had that plus the lead?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:30 PM

Can you believe that Drew Brees' 2 points so far today is his second-highest fantasy football score of the year!

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:31 PM

Yeah, LBM has a 0.0 QB rating at home. Gotta love it.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:31 PM

Is Bradshaw drunk?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:31 PM

good!!!

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:31 PM

I hear what y'all are saying about Gibbs not being aggressive enough in the 2nd half when he has a lead. And I agree to some extent, but here is the issue:

Gibbs does not trust his team enough to throw the ball too much. The O Line is not stellar for pass blocking, the QB is young and inexperienced, too many bad things can happen. That said, the other team knows they want to run so they line up to stuff it. It really is a no-win situation because the Skins just aren't good enough. Run too much and get stuffed, pass too much and you get penalties and turnovers (INTs and sack/funbles).

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 2:32 PM

Okay the Snickers commercial is pretty funny.

Seriously shut the F up Dane Cook! GO AWAY!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:34 PM

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:36 PM

Gary should suit up and get out there with that emotion.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:37 PM

Did every single fan go to the bathroom or concession stand?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:37 PM

Why didn't Manning do that for us?!

HaikuMan is right, the Kitties, as bad as they looked in the first can score quickly. They need to pile it on and put them away.

Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 2:37 PM

Man Boobs has lost weight. Good for him.

Posted by: Dof | October 7, 2007 2:37 PM

lions are a second half team...gotta play even better...

Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:37 PM

I have to admit, I'm not totally prepared coming out of Halftime. I'm out of Peanut M&Ms. I hope I'm not ripe for a letdown here.

Who is Dane Cook?

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:38 PM

Yeah, let's start burning the time outs here...

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 2:38 PM

I was flipping at the half. Any word on Daniels?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:38 PM

Daniels is back.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:38 PM

We can't find Randle El on the sideline, tho.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:39 PM

Thanks Cyn.

Viscount - Dane Cook is the stupid comic doing the baseball promos for Fox.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:40 PM

L2 laying the wood!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:40 PM

Great run defense, just like against the gmen.

Posted by: 5 cent | October 7, 2007 2:40 PM

Perhaps #85 was beside Coach Joe because #85 is now seeing he is in the dog house as Caldwell and McCardell are now both ahead of him.

So he is cuddling up beside hoping Coach Joe sends him in.... aint happenin' Brandon. Coach has had it w/ you!!
He doesn't see you as wanting to swing your soul!

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:41 PM

Defense stiffens and holds. Again! Man Boobs, I will never quit you.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:41 PM

What? ARE? No! What? No! What? No! No!!

Hey thanks to whoever put the butter on the Lions gloves.

AREA 51!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:41 PM

Thrash returning the punt. What's up with ARE???

I wonder if Receiver, The gets in there now...

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:43 PM

I forgot how to spell my name

Posted by: Do(r)f | October 7, 2007 2:43 PM

Why did the 'Skins already take a time out?

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:43 PM

Defense got lucky cause kitna dropped the ball.

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 2:43 PM

Reaper almost had an INT. No butter on those gloves. Good D is what it is.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:43 PM

Remember Archibingus used to do the same thing last year. He was alwasy in the shot with Gibbs on the sidelines.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:44 PM

Randle El -- hamstring injury, out for the game.

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 2:44 PM

Your D is playing great, but what on earth is Kitna doing out there? Wow, ARE is out for the game? That makes it difficult....

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:44 PM

ARE with a hamstring pull. SJK SJK SJK SJK SJK!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:44 PM

ARE done for the game - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:44 PM

Time out you asked?

had too many men on the field so didn't want penalty.

[Sonny's explanation]

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 2:45 PM

So, Thrash is the #1 WR now?!? I love the guy, but...

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:45 PM

SWINGIN SOULS!! ARE!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:45 PM

Keenan over the middle!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:47 PM

How is Brandon not in the game?

Posted by: tom | October 7, 2007 2:47 PM

Aggressive on Offense!

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 2:47 PM

Still no Receiver, The. McCardell with his first reception.

Gotta say...whoever the Fox analyst is...he's doing a great job.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:47 PM

Keep running Sellers

Posted by: 5 cent | October 7, 2007 2:48 PM

Top two receives out is bad, but the Lions couldn't cover our guys, and they ain't HOF material.

Keep throwin', people will be open

Adam

Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 2:48 PM

Is Betts okay? He was limping around 1st half.

!!!! - I seem to be !!!! a lot today!!!!

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:48 PM

God, I love Cooley.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:49 PM

Seriously what is up with the helmets and shoes today?

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:49 PM

The offense looks good.

Posted by: Tommy | October 7, 2007 2:49 PM

Diddy

Tim Green knows his stuff, but I'm not so sure on advantage Detroit in coverage. In my view it only makes the playing field a little more level.

Adam

Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 2:50 PM

F'in Swiss Ham!

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:51 PM

I thought it was Tim Green. He is really good. Knows his stuff and explains it well.

Shazam rushed that kick.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:52 PM

who on the offense is not hurt?
Anybody?
ARE, SM, JJ, RT, CP, LB

Posted by: Red | October 7, 2007 2:52 PM

At least it's still our country.

Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:52 PM

Uh-oh a Chevy commercial.

Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 2:53 PM

Jets just ran back the kickoff for a TD.

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 2:53 PM

beep beep!!

Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 2:53 PM

It's interesting that the Lions seem to think they can get back into the game running the ball. I'm surprised that they don't feel they need to go faster, although Kitna has the deer in the headlights look so far...

Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:55 PM

Redskins D looks great. Everybody's running to the ball, gang tackling. Same thing in the first half?

Adam

Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 2:55 PM

This is PI. Bummer. Great catch by Smoot.

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:55 PM
