Randle El Done For the Day Out With Hamstring
Got hurt on the 37 yard play. Not on the sidelines. Redskins say he is done for the day. We'll see how bad it is after the game.

Aggressive on Offense!
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 2:49 PM

cant let them back in now...3rd down...get off the field D...
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 2:55 PM
That flag was late and a B.S. call.
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 2:55 PM
Nah, good call; close but early on the hit. What's up with Marcus? Re-aggravated the elbow (yuck) or something else?
Adam
Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 2:57 PM
That flag was fine, Taylor hit him a little too early.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:57 PM
That call on The Reaper was legit.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:58 PM
Another injury? Marcus Washington out.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:58 PM
This game is wide open if Detroit scores on this possession.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 2:58 PM
Marcus has a hammy injury
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 2:59 PM
This game is getting me nervous now...offense needs to step up on the next drive.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 2:59 PM
Diddy
I thought I heard MW done for the day with a hamstring. Is this correct?
Adam
Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 3:00 PM
Gints game flashbacks. Biting a towel.
Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 3:00 PM
Nail bitin' starting to happen. We need to score. Either quick hit or long drive.

"They use donuts as bait to trap people in pointless meetings."
Oh my god, that's awesome.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:01 PM
good to hold to a field goal here...now we need a drive to eat up the clock and keep their offense off the field...pts or not...but an answer would be good...
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 3:01 PM
Yeah, Washington has a hamstring injury.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:02 PM
Bubba is going to be busy this week, Cyndy. 'Skins need another bye.
Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 3:03 PM
P.S. Washington will not return.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:04 PM
Can you say 6 point swing?
Now ARE (and Washington?) are out? And the Lions have discovered KJones can run against the Skins? They need a score. This is going to be a maalox 4th qtr.
Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 3:04 PM
"Coors The Banquet Beer"?
Umm something very Brokeback about that ad.
What does that mean banquet beer?
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:04 PM
I think I saw Receiver, The in the game there...
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:04 PM
Yes....Brandon Lloyd!!!!!!
Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
Dang it... I lost the pool
Posted by: DOrf | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
yeah, receiver!
Adam
Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
Was that THE?
WHAT?
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
In Gibbs 2.0, I believe the team has been strong the week after the bye.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
A Lloyd catch!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM
my gawd...who was that???
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 3:05 PM

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:07 PM
Typical Joe Gibbs 2.0 meltdown in full effect. It's like Deja Vu watching the Giants game again.
Get the lead. Go super conservative. Other team wins. The end.
Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 3:07 PM
Ya know, I believe it would be impossible for Ed Hochuli's pants to be any tighter. In fact, he may be wearing just body paint.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:08 PM
I think he made it. That last push he wasn't down.
I'm also totally objective.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:08 PM
Yep....we will be down to 1 time out after this. Slouching towards another loss.
Posted by: 5 cent | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
Not sure how a deep pass to Thrash on 1st and 10 is "super conservative."
Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
yeah but you cant tell where the spot is exactly..
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
No misprint! Receiver, The has begun the long road to "Leading the League in All Receiver Categories". That's my entry in the pool.
Why challenge a spot like that and NOT go for it after? Makes no sense.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
so, the receiver makes a catch only because ARE and SM are out of the game w/ injuries.
How's that for confidence Brandon?
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
That was a weird challenge. What made them think they'd get it overruled?
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
Dorf, we could come over and beat up your buddy. If you want.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
That was plenty of time to put in a good fake.
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM
What a wasted timeout.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 3:09 PM

cant let them score here...
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 3:10 PM
Gus Frerotte throws his 2nd TD pass of the day!
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 3:11 PM
I don't mind that challenge. We need a first down in the worst way right now.
We also have the strangest halftime ajustments I've ever seen.

Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 3:11 PM
Frosty in the house. Lions 0-20 in D.C. still down by 11. Have some faith you puss fans.
Posted by: banbkokben | October 7, 2007 3:11 PM
I was getting ready to say how we were due for a big defensive play and.....
wow a safety!
Posted by: mmok | October 7, 2007 3:11 PM
Kitna should have thrown that ANYwhere rather than let that happen. Good play by Carter but horrible play by Kitna.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM
BTW, Coors has always been the Banquet Beer since they started making the stuff back in the old days in Golden, CO. They're just returning to old ad campaigns trying to make the stuff sound like champagne.
Nice challenge by Joe. Think we're gonna need that TO? More good clock management by the Skins.
Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM
Who's returning punts/free kicks now? Thrash?
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM

lets go get some points and put this one away!!!
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM
Did Tim Green just say he coached Andre Carter in high school?
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM
Please Joe Gibbs don't ever retire. As long as you are the head coach we will never have to worry about the redskins as a real threat.
Ol Whiskers gibbs proved what an idiot he is with that terrible conservative play call on 3rd and 1 and then confirmed it with that stupid challenge
Posted by: Every coach, player, owner and fan of the other 31 teams | October 7, 2007 3:12 PM

FFFFFF
Posted by: Dorf | October 7, 2007 3:19 PM
Way to go Portis. You think the idiot will learn to hold on to the ball after blowing Giants game for the team.
Way to go Overpaid RB. We gave up Champ Bailey for this trash???

chance for the dagger and CP blows it!!
Face it, CP fumbled big vs. NYG too!!
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 3:20 PM
Sorry, DS. Just don't think about it.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:21 PM
Nice hands, they must still have some ky on them from the late night in Dupont Circle for Pee-wee Portis
Posted by: HAHAHA | October 7, 2007 3:21 PM
I hate to say it but Redskins need to get Llyod in the gane. Thrash can't stay in bounds. Portis can't hold on to the ball. They need a WR that can get some key catches.
Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 3:21 PM
10 Cent - LOL - "foreskin" that's the best you got? Biologically I can't have any and not at all clear how that is an insult.
Also I pay $10 for a beer but only if it's a microbrew. And $20 nachos? Nah. Garlic fries maybe.

I thought Betts was the one with chronic fumbilitis???
Disappointing drop. I agree, lets give the Receiver a few more calls this quarter and see what happens. Where's Caldwell? I'm in Indiana and have to listen on the radio; can't see everything that is happening.
Posted by: TDawg | October 7, 2007 3:22 PM
Bug Eyes has been out there, but no catches yet.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:23 PM
That was a fumble
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 3:23 PM
foreskin is to describe your appearance as reflected in your posts.
Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 3:24 PM
Hey TDAWG,
How about all these long delays not getting back to the game?
This XXX ESPN radio drives you nuts, doesn't it?
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 3:25 PM
This is why I hate the Challenge rule. It is really close whether that was incomplete or fumbled, and the refs should look at it again to be sure, but it's too iffy for the skins to risk a time out. Why should the Skins be punished on an iffy call?
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 7, 2007 3:25 PM
sfskin - ITA please
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 3:25 PM
I thought foreskin was a golf term.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:25 PM
DEEEEEEEEfense!
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:26 PM
Yeah, RR-- it's tough-- I have the MSNBC box score going up on automatic rotation too, so I catch anything that radio doesn't cover (like this whole Lions drive). Yucks.
I think it's time to pull Marcus Mason off the practice squad and start shaping him up!
Posted by: TDawg | October 7, 2007 3:26 PM
Okay, that's the nuttiest play we'll see all year. KILLER blocks on that return.

Frampton is a better choice.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:32 PM
We're moving in the wrong direction. False start. 1st and goal from the 8. Stick a dagger in them. Protect the ball. A field goal could ice this game.

Field goal on it's way...just take a knee Joe, take a knee

Posted by: 10 cent | October 7, 2007 3:35 PM
They really ought to roll Jason out more in the red zone. Makes a very difficult choice for a safety/db; stay in zone and yet JC run for yardage, or come up and get beat by the throw
Adam
Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 3:35 PM
WOW! Aggressive and effective. Haven't seen that in years!

Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:38 PM
Bah, Gints up. Burress caught a huge TD.
Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 3:38 PM
Both these teams suck and are proving why they were picking in the top 6 last year and most other years too. Redskins defense is impressive but their offense is terrible. The sad part is that one or both of these teams may end up in the playoffs although they would both be cannon fodder for the Cowboys
Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 3:39 PM
don't look now but the NYG are doing it again coming back in 2nd half now leading by 3

Mr. No name who says these teams would be cannon fodder for the Cowboys. WAKE UP. Right now you might be right but the Skins and Boys don't meet for another six weeks and a lot can happen then. So I'd think twice before you run your mouth. That's six weeks for this offense to continue to improve and they're doing it right now with their top two receivers. Go figure.

Posted by: bangkokben | October 7, 2007 3:46 PM
It's been a long, long time since we got to feel good in the fourth quarter.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:46 PM
Yea banbkokben it's a moot point now that they're in control but way to be negative and bring that up. Don't ruin this good day. Go stick your head in the sand.
Posted by: Jon | October 7, 2007 3:46 PM
Are Lennon's knickers unusually high? Or is it me?
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:46 PM
Those last two Detriot plays told the tale of the whole game for them. Kitna closed down and sacked by speed merchant Demetric Evans, and then throws a horrible interception to Taylor with no Lions receiver in the picture whe nTaylor catches it.
You guys played well today, the schemes Grilliams put together showed the Lions up for what they are - a good set of receivers who need a much more mobile quarterback and an effective offensive line.
Great game guys. I'm gonna go chew my nails now about that 'other' game being played by those guys I won't mention because they're dead to me.

I believe we have silenced the roar :-) It's more like a quiet meow.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:48 PM
Everybody's dropping like flies in this game.
Has Betts returned at all?
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:49 PM
You know CP wants to put up 6 after putting one on the ground.
It is good to ave an easy 4th but I already popped the Maalox in anticipation of a nail biter. GAK!
Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 3:49 PM
'Skins are decimating the Lions D. They are wilting out there.
Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 3:50 PM
diddy - betts just ran and had a nice spin move.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:50 PM
Jon,
No negativity here. It was a response to the "clicking on all cylinders" comment. I called this outcome earlier in the week. I'm up at 2:50 in the morning to follow this online. Tired but not negative.
Posted by: banbkokben | October 7, 2007 3:51 PM
This game is ovah.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:51 PM
As Frank Herzog used to say, "Goodnight, Irene."
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 3:51 PM
Waaah...for the first time evah, I'm starting to really wonder about Campbell. He looks like a complete idiot out there and this is not the world's greatest DEF he's facing.

You know it's a good game when they show the band for an extended period. Well a good game for us.
I heart Tim Ryan.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 3:52 PM
banbkokben..kudos to you for being up early. My fault for misinterpreting your post. My apology for the head in the sand comment. Get some rest after this victory. :) Hail.

Smoot layin the wood on himself.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 3:56 PM
Smoot just blew himself up. Maybe we should put the entire team in bubble wrap for the rest of the game.
Pop, pop, pop, pop...

Ouch, Smoot.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 3:56 PM

Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 3:57 PM
Jon, no hard feelings. I will sleep like a baby...for about three hours.
Hopefully, the 'fire Gibbs fools' will hide under their rocks this week.
Posted by: banbkokben | October 7, 2007 3:57 PM
I think the receiver earns another shot - he worked hard after the catch.
Posted by: mmok | October 7, 2007 3:58 PM
Forget flaxseed oil. Hochuli needs to drink MonaVie. LOL. Haaaa. Hail
Posted by: Jon | October 7, 2007 3:58 PM

Posted by: EaglesFan | October 7, 2007 4:01 PM
I'm confused. Was that just CARLOS ROGERS not only hangin onto a pick, but scoring?
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:01 PM
FINALLY - A pick by Rogers! He didn't drop it!

I KNOW I'm living in LaLa Land...Double Move with a pick for a TD.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:01 PM

double move!!!!
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 7, 2007 4:02 PM
He can catch the ball when the games not on the line.
I love the close up of Blloyd saying "He caught it, he caught it." (laughing) He's the only guy who shouldn't be laughing.
Double move has as many catches as Blloyd this year.

C. Rogers. Hello!

Posted by: SCSkins | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
Excuse me, I think my computer just broke again...
now its saying C.Rogers intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD. That can't be our Carlos "hands of stone" Rogers... can it??!!
Posted by: DS | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
Cindy, can we get an address where we can get a crow salad sandwich delivered to Jason re: the defensive line performance? I believe his article about the line today would require -- at a minimum -- an editor's "mulligan (!)"
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
That was indeed Carlos Rogers. I would have preferred that he not carry the ball like it was something he'd just scooped up from his dog.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
C-looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Posted by: Jonathan | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
omg...did carlos rogers just catch the ball or was someone else wearing his jersey?
Posted by: deadskin | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
Oh well, I suppose 0-5 isn't really any worse than 0-4....
And Nate is creaming me in the fantasy with Plaxico and the Giants D who just scored a TD themselves against the Jests.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 4:03 PM
Double Move!!!!
Dang, the Ketel is flowing and the SKINS are 3-1. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO hoooooooooooooo!!

Posted by: Jonathan | October 7, 2007 4:08 PM
Thanks Cosmo. It's typical that we lose to a 57yd field goal. That stuff only happens when you've made losing your habit.
I think we'll stick with Lemon until we get eliminated from contention (only a couple of weeks now) unless he actually starts to look good.
And the Panthers just beat the Saints with a 53yarder, see what I mean?
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 4:08 PM
RC - Don't feel so bad. Saints just lost to Carolina by a game winning FG.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 4:09 PM

Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 4:14 PM
Correction: re-reading the bit (actually, it was Jasno's clip from two threads ago), I believe it is the Skins who merit the ham sandwich (and not crow salad sandwich eating required). THE GAMBLE PAID OFF LIKE LOOSE SLOTS!
"A few things got cut from my story today - lot going in the sports world this weekend and only so much space to go around - including what I thought was one of the more important sentences in the whole piece.
So I'll paste it here:
"The Redskins ignored their maligned defensive line this offseason - a potent four-man pass rush is mandated this month - explaining that an improved secondary will create more time for the linemen to attack. That thesis will be tested against the next four opponents."
We shall see how that gamble pays off against all of these pass-happy offenses with their explosive personnel. ..."
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:14 PM
Tennessee wins on a sack. Pats still undefeated. Colts just scored. Red Zone Channel rocks.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:15 PM
Jasno will focus on the CP fumble and the injuries.
He will mention the win in the last sentence.

I just want to really want to emphasize this post because those of us who are out of town basically missed this game. I'm a longtime skins fan (born and raised in dc) and had to move to Boston recently for work. I could not believe how much of the game I missed on the radio. Without exaggeration, there wasn't a single drive by the Redskins where the broadcast wasn't cut off for minutes at a time for inane music or promos. I had the online radio on for the entire game and if I hadn't had the gametracker up and the blog it would have been impossible to follow. Most frustrating fan experience I've ever had.
So thanks to everyone on the blog for the commentary, sorry for the rant, and HTTR.
Posted by: exiledinboston | October 7, 2007 4:20 PM
Obviously Cyn Cyty you are right. I just felt like I needed to say it out loud. Makes me sound "responsible."
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 4:20 PM
Night all! Hail to the Redskins!
Posted by: bangkokben | October 7, 2007 4:21 PM
Watching Gibbs presser. Intersting and good (I think) that he is not smiles and giddy. He's serious and cranky.
BALANCE!
SWINGIN SOULS!

Out of towners (like myself) - It's called DirecTV Sunday Ticket. Look it up sometime.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 4:22 PM
I could write you a note, SF.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 4:23 PM
The NFL sells their Field Pass product if you want paid-for access to the radio broadcasts. Folks have been complaining about the free online radio on redskins.com.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:23 PM
That'd be great Cyn!
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 4:24 PM
Norv looks great today. Ineffective and incompetent. But looks great nonetheless. I like that fleece he's wearing.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:24 PM
sfskin, giggles would be impossible (physically) for St. Joe right now. I don't know if you've ever seen a before/after pic of Joe Gibbs on gameday, but its similar to the before/after a two term president. The man is 100% into the game (not to mention the diabetes). The game is a turbo vacuum cleaner on his constitution.
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:25 PM
DirecTV would be nice, but just because there's one outlet (which is bit expensive for me) doesn't mean that the other one should be unusable.
Posted by: exiledinboston | October 7, 2007 4:25 PM
not to mention the HUGE injury depletions today (ARE, Marcus, even more wear and tear on Portis' knee).
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:27 PM
sween - yeah giggles aren't ever there I know but it's interesting that he is sober sober sober. No fighting our guts out blah blah blah stuff.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 4:27 PM
Thanks P Diddy for the Field Pass tip. I haven't tried that yet
Posted by: Anonymous | October 7, 2007 4:28 PM
To Whom It May Concern:
Please excuse SFSkin from what you erroneously perceive to be any kind of productive activity for the rest of the day. She is under the weather and medical personnel insist that only fubball can make her well. And beer.

Blog question: Remind me, is the rule of thumb that is OK to talk about this game till mid afternoon tomorrow? and move on the Packer talk Tuesday?
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:28 PM
Philip Rivers with the TD. He looked like a wounded duck running to the pylon, but he's in there.
Rams just scored to make it 34-31 Arizona...onside kick coming up, :13 left.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:28 PM
Wow who'd thunk the STL ARZ game would be this "big"?
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 4:30 PM
XXX radio is a free sevrice provided by redskins.com. What exactly do you expect for free? If someone is not willing to pony up a little money for the privilege of seeing live games then they shouldn't really be complaining about a free service.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 4:30 PM
Sween, there are no blaws on this because such a dominating win is really uncharted territory (no negativity intended!) in the 13-month history of the blog...I think that discussing this game until, say, noon and then moving on the Pack is a wise decision.
Posted by: Cindy | October 7, 2007 4:31 PM
sween, I believe the rule of thumb is to first ponder firing St. Joe, trading Betts, cutting Receiver, The, and trading for Priest Holmes. Cowboys fans have the option of trash talking first or babbling incoherently, whichever they fancy. Giants fans and Eagles fans (Adam excepted) do not possess the necessary vocabulary to join in the conversation.
We are allowed to talk about Green Bay on Friday. Thursday is reserved for bashing "Grey's Anatomy".
Hope that helps.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:32 PM
We can crank this up tomorrow, but the D totally jacked up their game and Williams gets the game ball. Joe/Saunders deliver on the BALANCE. Thirty plus touches by the backs ... but to get to 30, its SELLERS who gets the offensive game ball. I love that he's finally being recognized as the complete H-back-type (FB/RB/TE) he can be. This was 2005 Mike Sellers today.
Posted by: dcsween | October 7, 2007 4:32 PM
Wow, Chargers score on the Rivers TD, Broncos fumble the ensuing kickoff, Chargers take it in for the score. SD 14, Denver 0.

Sween - think Cyn and Diddy summed it up well. We are in unicorn territory so don't know how to handle it.
Certainly we need to shake our blog booties for at least 1-2 days sprinkled with sober analysis and ITAing the poopypants who are gonna show up.

Why do Miami break Redcoat's heart?
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 4:37 PM
Yeah, mad props to Double G on the scheme. Completely screwed up Martz and Kitna. And then props to everyone on the D for some serious hitting. They turned YAC into yikes; Lions WRs were diving to the ground to avoid being killed after catches.
Think the Lions have been exposed as paper cats. Now the Skins need to get healthy so they're ready for better teams.
Adam

Personally, I really need Norv Turner to be Norv Turner today ...
Watching the highlights on Fox right now. WOW did the second half blow me away ... Sean Taylor pick, Carlos pick. FIVE sacks. WOW! Turning it over like vinyl on a turntable.

Broncos just fumbled in the red zone. Chargers may blow this one out...
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 4:41 PM
and they need to hang onto the ball. can't put the ball on the ground that much without eventually paying for it
I think Joe and co are going to correct that this week with a lot of ball security drills.
Adam

Is today really the day to bash eachother and call eachother out as "real" skins fans over the evil empire that is DirectTV? Grow the hell up. People got lots of rasons that might not work for them and they are valid,
I watch at horrendously over crowded sports bars with hordes of Steelers fans and pony up my cash for food and drinks, if someone has to rely on free web radio feed so F's be it...lay off D-bags!
Now back to enjoying skins victory...
Posted by: chris larry | October 7, 2007 4:57 PM
Wow!
What a day. I just returned from watching that thing of beauty with Nate in the PDX at our local watering hole. We took over an entire bar as there was about 10-15 true Skins fans in attendance. Impromptu, full versions, of HTTR was chanted at various times.
Basically paradise.
PDiddy, you should travel down to Ptown for next week's game. The bar has guaranteed us the "big screen" out of 30 TVs.

CL - Basicly what I was saying is people shouldn't really bi$ch and moan about a free service so much. Beggars can't be choosers. The other douchebag started in on the bashing.
Go to a bar (like yourself), get NFL Gameday or DirecTV if you can but don't sit around expecting the best for free.

LMGO at the smooth ad-culture reference. Who else but P Diddy could play it so right.

OMG, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade,
but DO NOT GAZE at the dermitage ad at the top of the blog (at least for me right now, curse it all).
It will turn you to stone.
How did they get Medusa to pose for the ad?
Arrgh, my eyes.

The game was on triplexespnradio.com, not redskins.com. But another option is Sirius radio. I listened to the game on there and the annoying commercial thing didn't happen, when I got home and listened on the pc, the annoying music pissed me off so I had to go to my car and listen to it.
Posted by: RockyTopSkin | October 7, 2007 5:07 PM
I think usernames and passwords would be a good thing.

Posted by: Chris laRry | October 7, 2007 5:11 PM
RTS - XXX radio is on redskins.com as well or at least the link is there. Personally I can't stand to listen to Sam anymore so I never tune in.
Anywho - We won an excellent game today and shouldn't be complaining about anything. I think I'll go DMGO in celebration.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 5:13 PM
Why is it I hear Walt Harris's name on almost every defensive play the 49ers are making? I thought the reason you ran him out of town was he sucked?
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 5:15 PM
Can we please talk about JC now???? Dude just straight plays, poised, field general, today he was accurate, quick and was able to float in the pocket to help the pass protection
Posted by: CHRIS Larry | October 7, 2007 5:18 PM
Just waiting to see how JLC puts a negative spin on this game.
Time will tell.

Posted by: ngu | October 7, 2007 5:18 PM
Chris Larry, I am totally with you about Campbell!! Great game from him.
And anonymous, I was just thinking the same thing about JLC....he will find something bad to say....probably "well, it was just Detroit."

damn right CL. Easy wins are hard to come by with the Skins. Lets enjoy it. Packer hate starting tomorrow.
Posted by: cdubb | October 7, 2007 5:37 PM
Also this can't be a "huge test" for skins defense and than when they completely shut them down, its a "well you were suppossed to" situation thats straight bull-SJK
Posted by: chrIS Larry | October 7, 2007 5:41 PM
I don't understand why you guys are bashing JLC now. He rightly pointed out that the Skins didn't address an area of concern in the off-season, and I seem to recall that it was a subject of considerable discussion on this here Blog throughout the offseason too.
All he said was "we will see if they were right to go that way after these 4 games", he's correct, you will see. So now, because you've won the first one he should be eating humble pie? What happens if you lose the next 3 with no d-line pressure on the QB? Is he still wrong?
The Skins played pretty well today on both sides of the ball, no doubt of that, but the Lions barely contested anything of the physical aspect of the game at all. When a team loses the mental battle SO badly it's hard to get a good picture of where things really are. You guys were biting your nails until close to the end, don't forget that.
Bask in the warm glow of victory, but don't start thinking that means that the rest of the season is a cake-walk, because remember the Eagles put 56 points on that Lions team and much good it's done them.
You're going to have a real good fight in the NFC East this year as long as you can win the first game against the Cowgrrls to bring them back to the pack a bit, otherwise it's you guys and the Jints fighting for second place and a wildcard.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 5:44 PM
Is this a dream? I've just arrived at worked, logged on to NFL.com and see that we won 34-3, Carter had 2 sacks and a safety, and Mr.Rogers had an interception!
Is this bizarro world??

Hmmm looks like I missed nothing in the SF game but got some awesome Blue Angels action coming up.
Soups was outstanding today. And I mean outstanding for where he is in his career. Best day as a Skins I think.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 5:50 PM
cL, maybe I'm misreading, but it seems that people are taking Jasno to task for a statement that he made about the next 4 games of the season (3 now) just because the first game proved it wrong.
I think if the Redskins go 4-0 or even 3-1 in those 4 games, they would be proven justified in leaving the d-line intact. Your d-line looked VERY good this week, but it was 'just Detroit' in that Kitna is on target for being sacked 70+ times this season.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 5:52 PM
Sorry about Trent Green there Redcoat. That was tough to watch 2 times getting carted off in 2 years. But I never really felt uneasy in a game for once today and see it as entirely possible 3 teams can come out of the east like last year. Saints are done, Chicago could be done in a few hours and the west stinks.
Posted by: cdubb | October 7, 2007 5:53 PM
Here is why SF is the best city in the country in my totally subjective opinion.
Where else in the nation do you have the Folsom Street Fair one weekend and Fleet Week the next? Plus as usual the loony lefties have to protest the Blue Angels cause "they're too militaristic."
Meanwhile in Berkeley some really committed loonies are camping in some trees to protect them from a $100million athletic center.
Best city in the country.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 5:54 PM
Janso puts it out there, and he is gonna get slapped when people see hima s wrong...its the style/relationship he has established. The D line has played pretty damn well all season so far I think and seems like maybe the coaching staff has been proven right in believeig in some of these dudes...
Janso can take it...
Posted by: chris larry | October 7, 2007 5:55 PM
Maybe you're right cHriS. Yesah cdubb, it was pretty ugly, but it maybe a blessing in disguise for the Dolphins for the rest of the season.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 5:58 PM
So do we think they're going to try and "rush" Santana back if ARE has a serious hammy? Thrash doesn't have the speed to go downfield and of course there is Mostly Invisible - here we go with another week of saying he has to step it up now.
Presumabley Soups has better timing with him due to longer practice time than with any of the newbies.
and for BALANCE sake
Generally great protection of Soups this week by the o-line. He did use his feet well most of the time too.

Congrats on the RWC Redcoat! I wonder what the odds were, that the four semi-finalists would be South Africa, England, France and Argentina!

Receiver, The with a catch. Double Move with an INT. Skins score over 30. I'm speachless.

Holy Crap...that's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time on this blog
Posted by: Reppin TX | October 7, 2007 6:01 PM
Is it me, or is this Balmer / SF game complete and utter garbage?
I thought I'd waste the whole day watching games today and so far I've seen Redskins (v.good) vs. Lions (horrible) and Balmer (awful) vs. SF (even worse).
I hope the Bears v. Packers game has better play from both teams!
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 6:01 PM
I can't wade thru all this stuff, did anyone notice that CAMPBELL arrived BIG TIME today?
He was firing darts. Reading progressions, making right decisions, moving well in the pocket.
Can anyone say FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK?
On the down side, what the heck is he deal with all the Redskins muscle pulls? They have more pulled groins and stretched hammies than the crowd at a strip club.
Posted by: Corkhappy | October 7, 2007 6:02 PM
I swear I think this may be the most boring fubol game I've seen in years.
Even when the offense/defenses do something it's a yawner.
They should fly the Blue Angels over the Stick to liven it up.
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 6:03 PM
Okay I can't take it anymore. I'm going to watch the blue angels.
4pm games are all boring.
Later.
HAIL HAIL HAIL
Posted by: sfskin | October 7, 2007 6:05 PM
Thanks Kost. I watched the highlights and it looks like your guys still haven't figured that scrummaging is actually part of the game! Your front five play was schoolboy level for most of the game, truly horrible.
But at least you didn't choke like the all blacks did - again.
I don't think anyone would have called those 4 for the semis! Still if we're to beat the French next weekend it's going to have to be a low-scoring game again.
Posted by: Redcoat | October 7, 2007 6:05 PM

Redcoat, can you PLEASE tell me why you are on here blogging about how JLC is right and "it was just Detroit"?
If I remember correctly, Detroit has only lost one game and your Dolphins have not won even ONE game!
Can you not realize that this is a big day of celebration for us? Our D, offense, and special teams played great and we are ecstatic and celebrating! Next week we have Green Bay and it will be a very tough game. Within the next 2 days we will start worrying about that game.
However,TODAY is not the day to try and bring us dowm. If you can't say anything good...say nothing at all...or go visit the Dolphins blog.
Posted by: Lisa | October 7, 2007 6:18 PM
Why must I be subjected to the Sorry Ravens play every week?!?!?
And every team they play sucks......
Are Baltimorians subjected to Redskin games every week??
Posted by: 4th via Home Floor | October 7, 2007 6:19 PM
This may be breaking the blog rules but I am less worried about Green Bay than a I was about the Lions. 12-4 baby!!

Chargers putting on a clinic in Denver today.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 6:23 PM
First, watching the Ravens on offense is like watching two guys kiss each other on the mouth.
Second, excellent win for the skins. A lot of important things went great for us here. Underrated great thing: that int return for a TD maybe a career changer for Carlos Rogers. That will give him confidence going forward and I think we could see the emergence of that dude. I also think he has been getting a raw deal on the blog because he has been hitting so hard and has been great against the run..covering has been mediocre. We shall see. Hail Redskins.

Lisa, please read my comments again. I didn't say JLC ewas right, but I DID say that he isn't wrong, yet.
Congratulations on the win. I'll try not to comment again until the Dolphins win, as apparently that's the only thing that allows someone to have an opinion contrary to your own.
Bye.

NFL Scoreboard onf NFLN is waaay better than any Bmore game live...
Is it me is McNair like Brunell last year with all the dink and dunking?
Skins highlights coming up next.....
Posted by: 4th via Home Floor | October 7, 2007 6:28 PM
The Governor - I agree in regards to Rogers, especially hands wise, I reckon anytime a catchable pass came his way, he would think his way out of it. After a big INT like that, I can imagine him playing with a lot more confidence.
Looks like McCardell did some good things without being around too long!
Posted by: kost52 | October 7, 2007 6:38 PM
Yes,
Apparently double move found the little footnote in the rule book that says DB's are allowed to catch the ball. That should help him tremendously in his career.
You know everything is going your way when you have an Ocho Cinco sighting and a Carlos Rogers pick in the same game.
Andre Carter was a beast today and that crack block that the Reaper threw on Thrash's return...I nearly sharted.
Posted by: etrod | October 7, 2007 6:44 PM
Redcoat, my opinion certainly does not rule on this blog.....I have been brought down many times. In fact, I rarely blog anymore due to all the negativity.
Which is why I was disturbed by your comments on a day like today that was so exciting for us.
I have absolutely nothing against the Dolphins - and I feel really badly for Trent Green. I was just questioning why you had to even make that statement about Jason - especially today. That's all I meant.
Posted by: Lisa | October 7, 2007 6:46 PM
What's up with all the hammys this year. Don't these guys stretch????
Posted by: CoSkins | October 7, 2007 6:54 PM
Chargers hand Denver the biggest loss ever at home. 41-3.
Posted by: bigfish | October 7, 2007 7:00 PM
Funny thing is that I yanked both my hamstrings yesterday while playing flag football. Oldmanitis, sadly.
Late games are dullll...can you believe San Diego putting up 41 points? Indy, of course, keeps rolling. Baltimore-SF...anybody care? Besides Jasno, that is.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 7:03 PM
Sorry Stumped and Nate...my car doesn't get here until the 20th, so can't get down to Portland for the game until after that. I'll be in SF the weekend of the 26th, possibly flying to Boston for Redskins/Patriots first thing on the 28th.

I do believe that is Brunell playing for the Ravens today.

I don't think I can muster up any "hate" for the Packers. I adore Brett Favre. Obviously, I'm rooting for the 'Skins, but I can never root against Favre. We'll chalk it up to a moral failing of mine...
Posted by: P Diddy | October 7, 2007 7:08 PM
Hey Lisa, olive branch. I've reread my posts and they certainly read worse than I intended. Put this down to me being cranky because:
:. That team that is "dead to me" is now 0-5 after the opposition kicked 3/3 field goals from beyond 50 yards...
g. I was hoping to watch an exciting Redskins v. Lions game which turned very quickly into a rout. Who cares why that happened, it was a great result for you guys, but it sucked for an 'impartial observer' because I'd hoped to see lots of points from both sides and Detriot were NEVER competitive, you were way too good for them.
4. The second game of the day (B'more v. SF) has had precisely two passes worth of excitement in it!
I'm sorry if you feel driven away from the Blog these days. I agree that things are different on here now, and by no means all for the better. I you want to take that offline feel free to email me at usredcoat at gmail dot com.
As a non-Skins fam I enjoy chatting with you guys, but if I have outstayed my welcome, just let me know.
