Rogers Out - Rocky Back (Just Had a Stinger)
Carlos hurt his right knee and is in for X-Rays. Will not return and could be serious.
Rocky McIntosh got hurt on that drive as well and awaiting an update on him.
Marcus Washington is playing sparingly with his hamstring - looked like 3rd downs only- so by the end of that drive Smoot, Marcus, Carlos and Rocky all not on the field. That's huge and a secondary like that might get overwhelmed now. Tough breaks for the SKins

Sean Taylor is heading towards a personal foul soon. 3 times now I've seen him going at someone after the play was over.

This is going to be a very long day...I believe we are about to get blown out

London's a stud
Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 4:49 PM
Well the thing is it would be unrealistic to assume we can win this one, so it's more relaxing to watch.
The Post lied though. I read this morning that only Thomas and Rock were out...so where's Smoot?
Posted by: karalynn | October 28, 2007 4:51 PM
D looked good there. Let's keep that up. fingers crossed.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 4:51 PM
A Jasno sighting! He and Receiver, The must be hanging out together...
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 4:52 PM
I think they'd have the same level of effetivness on the field
Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 4:53 PM
Only 1 TD given up in the 1st Q. That's better than I expected.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 4:54 PM
Jason will catch a touchdown pass before the receiver does.

Posted by: BT | October 28, 2007 4:56 PM
What a misbegotten pass by ARE and catch by Cooley. Did he know he was the target?
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 4:56 PM
ARE should have just ran that. He had a good opening. F gadget plays!!! (unless they work)
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 4:56 PM
Smoot is inactive for the game...the whole game.
Rogers' injury indeed looks bad....That's now three picks the Pats shoulda had. Key word: shoulda.
Posted by: Cindy | October 28, 2007 4:57 PM
Hmmm. Do we actually practice passing during the week?
Posted by: sfskin | October 28, 2007 4:57 PM
jc regressing
Posted by: dealer | October 28, 2007 4:58 PM
Chiskins,
Smoot is inactive today, not recovered from a sore hamstring.
We're down to our 4th and 5th corners.
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 28, 2007 4:58 PM

Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 4:58 PM
This is the 2nd game in a row Frost is doing the 40 yard thang. What's up with that?
Ugh.
Posted by: karalynn | October 28, 2007 4:58 PM
this offense is so anemic!
looks pale, sickly!
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 28, 2007 4:58 PM
No confidence in our receivers right now.
Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 4:59 PM
Okay positive thoughts - at least we went for the throws downfield on that drive. . .
Posted by: sfskin | October 28, 2007 4:59 PM
Put me in coach. I'm ready to play.
Posted by: Mark Brunell | October 28, 2007 4:59 PM
sfskins--We practice passing, but against our own scout team. I don't think they're as good as the Patriots, though.

As much as Welker is getting punished, he's not going to want to catch many more of those balls over the middle.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:01 PM
our offense is a fukcing embarrassment.
Posted by: Anonymous | October 28, 2007 5:01 PM
Why are the Patriots playing so hard today. Don't they realize they have to face Indianoplace next week? That's what they should be thinking about.
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:01 PM
i think welkers gonna have 15 catches for 6 yards every time.
Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 5:01 PM
Gotta say, L2, London, and The Reaper are bringing the hits today.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:02 PM
They need to run the ball and run clock. The idea today is to leave NE with as few injuries as possible. It's sad to say but limiting them to 6 or 7 yards per play and forcing them to use clock will be a good thing. You don't want to see any quick strikes.
Posted by: DS | October 28, 2007 5:02 PM
Who needs Randy Moss when they can just tear us apart with the run and short pass routes?
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:03 PM

Defense would be tougher today if New England weren't taping their signals.
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:04 PM
As incredible as this Patriots offensive line is (and they are phenomenal), their receivers are just superb blocking for the run game. They're the ones opening these holes into the second level of the defense. Faulk averaging, what, 8-9 yards per carry? Very, very impressive.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:04 PM
P Diddy,
I appreciate your optimism, but good grief are D is so far back the Pats have determined to eliminate the Safties from the game and the LBs are coming up to make good hits, yes, but after 9 -10 yards!!
24 plays so far 12 pass/ run BALANCE!
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 28, 2007 5:05 PM
our defense is embarassing right now
Posted by: Anonymous | October 28, 2007 5:05 PM
Okay so I'm laughing now. It's that or cry.
Gotta figure the defense is thinking that they will try and try and try but if o keeps pooping in their pants then that's gotta wear you down.
Posted by: sfskin | October 28, 2007 5:05 PM
This is going to get very ugly. Time for tequila shots.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:06 PM
I'm no defensive genius (altho G in Cindy does stand for genius...), but if Vrabel is moving, he's getting the ball. Hello!

Posted by: cbg | October 28, 2007 5:08 PM
Cyn Cyty - I was thinking the same thing. . . about you being a genius that is.
I called Vrabel getting the effin ball. If I know it's happening then it's the most obvious thing in the world.
Posted by: sfskin | October 28, 2007 5:09 PM
Is it just me or should we actually try man to man and go after the QB
Posted by: SDS | October 28, 2007 5:09 PM
The Patriots are a machine. Unbelievably confident in their play calling and execution. Doesn't hurt that they have one of the 2 or 3 best QBs of this generation, either.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:09 PM

Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:09 PM
God, isn't it obvious by now that whenever Vrabel is in they are throwing it too him..How can he be completely uncovered??
The sad thing is, if we go into the half down 14-0, the defense has done its job....our O is so inept I can't even believe it...can someone make a play???!
I'm seriously starting to get pissed at Al Saunders.

Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:11 PM
7 to 14 at half would at least make the second half worth watching.

Given what Indy did today, I'm sure the Pats are even more motivated today. It's unfortunate that Indy isn't playing at 4, too.
Posted by: Cindy | October 28, 2007 5:12 PM

Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
Campbell fumbled. Must be Saunders fault.
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
2 runs and a 3rd down pass. great play calling ahole
Posted by: Anonymous | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
They should fire Weird Al for fumbling that ball.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
we need to blitz and start hitting Brady
Posted by: BT | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
Let's see, we are down 14-0 and we run CP on 1st and 2nd downs!
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 28, 2007 5:13 PM
If this keeps up then I'm all for putting in Brunell or Collins.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:14 PM
it is saunders fault. 3rd and 6 is an obvious passing play. setting a young qb up for failure
Posted by: Anonymous | October 28, 2007 5:14 PM
good stand by the D!
Posted by: BT | October 28, 2007 5:15 PM
FIRE Weird AL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: dealer | October 28, 2007 5:16 PM
it's like the pats are playing a totally different game. The blocking on their offense is unbelievably good.
Posted by: hillx075 | October 28, 2007 5:16 PM
The D gave up 17 points already to the Pats. Fire Grilliams!!!
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:17 PM
Come on. Look, we are not as good as the Pats. Plain and simple. Changing QB's isn't going to make a difference. Campbell is much better than the other 2.
Posted by: BT | October 28, 2007 5:17 PM
JC fumbled that ball because he was dangling it out there like a lunchbox. He should know better. That was sloppy execution.
Weird Al has made some sketchy calls this season, but that was not one of them.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:17 PM
Holding those guys to 3 after a turnover deep in your own territory. That's HUGE! What a great defense.
Now run the ball, run clock. Get to halftime.
Odds on seeing T. Collins in the 2nd half?
Posted by: DS | October 28, 2007 5:17 PM
Since nothing else is working, we should play man press coverage like we did against the iggles.
Posted by: RockyTopSkin | October 28, 2007 5:18 PM
How come we are not blitzing and hitting the QB
Posted by: SDS | October 28, 2007 5:18 PM

Posted by: DS | October 28, 2007 05:17 PM
Odds are zero. You don't give up on your franchise quarterback after a half.
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 5:18 PM
Randy Moss has no catches and we are down 17-0!
One would have thought it would have been better.
Posted by: Redskin Ray | October 28, 2007 5:21 PM

Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 28, 2007 5:21 PM

Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:21 PM

Posted by: Cindy | October 28, 2007 5:21 PM

Odds are zero. You don't give up on your franchise quarterback after a half.
Posted by: talent evaluator | October 28, 2007 05:18 PM
I don't see that as giving up on your franchise QB. I see it as meaning that the game will be so far out of hand that you just rest your franchise QB and save him from injury.
Posted by: bigfish | October 28, 2007 5:21 PM
well the INT was our punt for that drive
Posted by: RockyTopSkin | October 28, 2007 5:22 PM
Damn. You might want to get the kid out of there just for his own psyche? Or let him tough it out?
Poor Nate. Specifically asked for none of that Vrabel bullsjk.
This is one way to avoid another JLC second half collapse article.
Posted by: SMACK | October 28, 2007 5:22 PM
Yep, blitzing Brady is a no brainer.
That doesn't help our offense though. This is downright embarrasing. Something is really, really wrong...hell, even Miami scored on NE. It's not impossible.
Posted by: karalynn | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM
why do you even have thrash going deep. he can't run past anybody. Fking stupid
Posted by: nah | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM
JC needs the work
leave him in
Posted by: RBD202 | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM
Look, Saunders runs the ball to try and slow down the game. We are not going to win a shoot out with the Pats. Unfortunately, our O line cannot run block, and pass blocking is only a little better.
As for the Defense, you can't just blitz. Brady will pick apart our D. Especially with our #2 and #3 corners out. Brady is too good. We are not good enough.
Nobody else is either.
Posted by: Skins fan in Philly | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM
te, im sure no one but saunders called that frighin wr pass when down by 7 in the fitst fvking quarter!!!!

I agree. And no one but Cooley didn't even turn around and try to make a play on the ball. Let's fire Saunders when the players don't make plays.

'Skins ball! Woohoo! A ray of hope.
Posted by: P Diddy | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM

Posted by: redskins8085 | October 28, 2007 5:23 PM
If you are down 30-0 with maybe 5 first downs and the kid is running for his life you aren't giving up on him you're giving him a break so he doesn't get killed.
Posted by: DS | October 28, 2007 5:24 PM
I bet you guys want offense to go 3 and out now don't you???
HUH??

The feeling of being a Redskins fan right now is a total feeling of futility.
Our offense can't score or even be a threa to score. Cambpell appears to be regressing. He carries the ball poorly, never learns from his mastkes, overthrows people. There is no excitement on the offense or defense.
The running touchdown by Brady and then the stupid pass to the linebacker Vrable that everyone knew was coming?? Marcus Washington looks awful. Betts runs right into a wall on special teams. Thrash is blocking when the ball smakcs him in the head, Souy passes everywhere but on the taregt. The offensive line stinks. Defensive line no pressure.
Joe Gibbs, Joe Bugel, Greg WIlliams = not a real head coach among them. I am ready to take back Gibbs bust from Canton, he stinks. Like others I thought we might make this thing close.
The Redskins are awful. Joes Gibbs...please quit.

We are looking for a pass-blocking players, we hear you have someone named Michelle Sellars on your roster at fullback who could meet our needs.

OK NOW ...we have seen Campbell play for awhile now...I will say what I said when everyone was crying for Campbell to play....It's NOT repeat NOT Brunell fault this offense can't move the ball! In fact the offense moved the ball better when MB was starting...don't believe me? go back and LOOK at the numbers...Campbell has been nothing short of awful....I will say what I sadi way back when...CAMPBELL IS NOTHING MORE THAN A SMARTER TONY BANKS! Sure he can run ...sure he can throw it deep...BUT HIS ACCURACY IS S H I T! But it;s not his fault ...The offesnse was fine when Gibbs was calling the plays...in 05 they were a good offense...since AL came in the offense has left the building.....AFTer 2000 and beyond...I am finally DONE...I just don't care anymore...This franchise SUCKS!

it's football & you better wish to knock folks outta the game. that's why you wear the pads.
I don't think anyone is truly advocating a life threatening injury, but seriously - it's football!
Posted by: Dik | October 29, 2007 09:55 AM
Dik, you are right it is football. So you should be wishing for knocking people out. If that's your primary goal then you need to switch sports.. how about boxing? What you should wish and aim for should be your QB not fumbling the ball 3 times. You should wish for him to throw catchable balls and you should wish for your receivers to catch those balls. You should wish for your multimillion dollar RB who runs his mouth during the weekday to run for yards on a Sunday.

What you should do is wonder how Gibbs and Snyder could label Saunders as a "genius" - How many rings did he win w/ KC? How many playoff wins did he get w/ KC? Which NFL were THEY watching?
Last I checked, KC hadn't done anything even when Vermiel was the HC.
Remember those who labeled Cambell as the next Brett Favre? Wow, someone at redskin park must think we are all idiot fans.
Gibbs better put this on himself. But that should not keep us from telling him he's past his prime.

Just saw the Rogers ACL/MCL story and saw the phrase "emergency list" again. Though I'm sure they're nothing new, I haven't see it used in stories quite as often as I have this year.
JLC -- Is this something the Skins spend more time on in some official way? That is, it's interesting to know they have a sort of "draft order" or depth chart if someone gets hurt, like Joe Salav'a (sp) as the number one option if the D-line needs some help. Can you elaborate a bit more in a future blog?
