Practice Update/Other Details

Would be hard to imagine the Skins are going to list WR James Thrash (ankle) and FB Mike Sellers (back) as anything other than doubtful or out. They missed practice again and have not been on the field really much at all that I can think of this week from what we see at practice.

RB Clinton Portis (back) was also not on the practice field.

WRs Santana Moss (heel) and Antwaan Randle El (hamstring) were on the field, but we get to see almost none of Friday practices, so I have no idea if they are taking full work or are limited in their participation.

Also, for now I would advise everyone going to the game Sunday who wants to see all the pre-game ceremonies to be in their seats by 12:15 or so (I will get an official timeline of the pre-game festivities later, but for now I'd go with this estimate). I knowa lot of people have emailed me about this, so I wanted to get out what I knew for now.

Looks like next week will be a very truncated media schedule as well. Coach Gibbs's normal Monday press conference will not take place, with the team flying to Miami for the funeral that day. Tuesday will be jam packed with meetings and will be the only media availability for the week, as Wednesday is likely to be like a normal Saturday - given that the game is on Thursday (sorry if this doesn't make sense).

So, basically Wednesday will be off-limits to the media from what I am gathering, although the team has not set an official schedule just yet. Everyone figures the players will be off next Friday-Monday following the Chicago game, but that too is not confirmed.

Story from Miami Herald Web site:
3 detained in Sean Taylor homicide

BY MANNY GARCIA AND DAVID OVALLE
Miami-Dade detectives have detained at least three people in Lee County for questioning in the death of Washington Redskins football star Sean Taylor.

Investigators believe the young men learned of Taylor's house through someone who unwittingly set up the burglary by bragging about the football star's wealth.

The suspects include a teenager and two men in their 20s who hail from the Fort Myers area.

The former University of Miami star was not supposed to be home. While the Redskins played in Tampa, he had come home to get a second medical opinion on his injured knee.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents and Miami-Dade homicide detectives picked up the young men Friday morning.

Taylor was shot early Monday by an intruder who surprised him in the bedroom of his Palmetto Bay home. He wielded a machete as he tried to protect his fiancee, Jackie Garcia, and their 18-month-old baby girl. The two were hiding under the covers as Taylor was shot. One bullet pierced the wall. The other struck Taylor in the groin, severing his femoral artery and causing massive blood loss. He died later at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

I think I beat JLC to this, but three men have been "detained" in Ft. Myers, Fl for questioning in Sean's murder:

I say they let every fan/family member/etc kick these guys in the nuts one time each.

Yeah...it has sounded like a sloppy kid's job from the beginning. This is pretty much what common sense indicates is the most likely case, based on the evidence that has been shared.

Jason -

I appreciate the work you've done here and I realize you are blogging, so no real editing. However, I would think "festivities" is a downright awful word to use to describe the pre-game. How about Pre game "Ceremony"?
