The Rest Of The Inactives
Marcus Washington (hamstring) is out and for the Jets, Laveranues Coles (concussion) is out, too.
Mike Pucillo (back) is out after suffering the injury in practice this week (is it just me or is getting listed as "probable" by the Redskins the new kiss of death? Awful liberal definition of probable going on around there).
Also for the Skins, David Macklin is down, which means John Eubanks is playing after being activated from the practice squad. Randy Thomas (triceps) is still hurt and healthy scratches are Ryan Boschetti, Kevin Sampson, and, as we've already established, Boggin B-Lloyd is back in NoVa, probably cutting a rap record in his basement or something. With Lloyd out, and James Thrash playing but recovering from a hamstring issue, you would think Keenan McCardell gets a decent chance to get back on the field today.
Rick DeMulling is up and he told me he had been working on some tackle eligible stuff, so I am guessing that he takes Pucillo's spot in the jumbo package, though that could be Stephon Heyer as well.
Also, Rock Cartwright is back, so that should boost the return game.

So who won the pool? I was well into the 2nd half of the season, so I know it was not me.
Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 1:01 PM
So, are CBs are: Shawn Springs, Fred Smoot (hammy problem), Leigh Torrence, and John Eubanks?!?! That scares me, I dont care what team we are playing. I guess we will see alot of Prilou in DB situations. I cant spell his name I'm sorry.
And maybe Lloyd is just practicing extra hard this weekend, not making a mix tape. You NEVER know.

Yet another Sports Bog reference?
Posted by: bobzmuda | November 4, 2007 1:15 PM
Ok - I know how to fix the 'Skins coaching/front office problems!!
I believe a majority of us agree that the front office problems center around the lack of a strong general manager.
I believe part of the coaching problems is the lack of a strong central figure. Gibbs wearing too many hats has been a topic for complaint here also.
Charlie Casserly is working for CBS! He desplays his accumen weekly, must get partial credit for the talent over in Smokey San Diego, and has a working relationship with Gibbs.
Danny! Why don't you dump that no good Cerrato & bring in another one of your heroes!
Casserly for GM!
Hail!

Is everybody in place for the game? Sorry, Diddy, but I did bring Key Lime (thick and creamy) Yoplait.
Fearless predictions on the final score? I've got 23-7, Redskins.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 1:30 PM
I read that Brunell was inactive also. What's the deal with him?
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 1:31 PM
It's 1:30 already. We're missing the game!
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 1:33 PM
Third QB is always inactive. If he is needed due to injuries in the game, he can play.
Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 1:35 PM
14-10 Skins w/ the D either scoring one TD or forcing a turnover inside the Jets 20.

I wish that daylight savings time happened today instead of yesterday so i wouldnt have to wait an extra hour for the game
Posted by: cilp33 | November 4, 2007 1:37 PM
Are there any other games on today other than Pats/Colts? Fox and ESPN are pretty much doing Pats/Colts pregame.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 1:38 PM
Is coach going to start firing his trainers who aren't 'stretching' the players enough?
how many hammy's and groin pulls can this team have?
Posted by: goskinsgo | November 4, 2007 1:38 PM
TheCindy? That's what they gave you on registration? The same first name as The Danny?
Talk to Jasno -- I'm betting he can get you a better deal like CindyInTheDCA or dccindy.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 1:40 PM
Did we rule out a hammy or groin pull for the receiver? It's not like him to give up before a game -- he usually waits until the ball's in the air.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 1:42 PM
I took TheCindy in a fit of pique at the registration system and at all the imposters. I don't mind the time change. I like the falling forward thing. Or whatever it is that we do.

Greetings from Barcelona! I am in place for the game. It is early evening here, which means people are napping to prepare for the usual 10pm dinnertime. I am, of course, up and ready to watch the football (not the futbol). Hung out last night with some of the chaps from FC Barcelona. Nice guys. Hard to believe they are athletes.
In any event, my Slingbox has failed me and because I use a Mac, I cannot use the DirecTV Sunday Ticket over the Internets. So, I've had to go with Plan C and buy a weekend pass on Yahoo's NFL Game Pass. I have no faith in Al Gore's Internets, so there is a chance I will lose access to the game in short order. I also have no faith that the stream will be "live". Oh well, more tapas and sangria, por favor.
Hail!

Diddy, have you ordered an Oreos pizza from El Domino's? And, since it's evening there, can you tell us who won the game? And Colts-Pats?
On another matter, I know this is a Redskins blog, but Michael Strahan is looking very good these days.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 2:06 PM
What do you think the Special Teams coach for the Jets is looking at? Play call of the day: "Kickoff Return for Touchdown Left".
It is definitely time for the sangria.

Quick review of NFL Game Pass: great idea, actually pretty high quality broadcast, and really love that you even get the commercials. That's really cool, particularly, I'd assume, if you're an expat overseas with a wee bit of homesickness. $29.95/week is a bit steep, but if you need your fix, you need your fix, I suppose.
I have a few issues with the broadcast, but I suspect that's because I'm forced to run a beta of Flip4Mac on my Mac.
If you're not in North America and are desperate for the games, you need this. http://sports.yahoo.com/nflgamepass

Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 2:19 PM
Good point. There's a well-known, Brandon Lloyd codicil in the just-enacted Blaw. Isn't Kellen "Samuel" Clemens wearing Patrick Ramsey's old Jets number?
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 2:20 PM

$29.95 is only a lot for us US Americans. With the weak dollar they're giving it away for nothing to everyone else.

Smooooooot!
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 2:21 PM

The rookie mistake by Landry is not his fault. It's because of bad coaching. Gibbs must go.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 2:24 PM
Hey No-talent evaluator:
We're about to get scored on again by a 1-7 team. We'll be down 10-3 or 14-3. that is due to coaching. Get a clue!
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 2:27 PM
Sack!
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 2:28 PM
Nice red zone D. Now let's not let them get to the red zone again.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 2:28 PM
They are picking on Smooot today, huh?
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 2:28 PM
Not being a pessimist just years of being tainted. Redskins supposedly have one of the best Defense in the league against one of the worst teams starting a rookie QB and they are maintaining a drive longer than 80% of the drives we have had this year. After saying all that I am in no way surprised nor will i be, just expectations have been low after the past several years yet the team finds new ways to let us down
Posted by: mofass79 | November 4, 2007 2:28 PM
I can't believe people are still defending this lackluster coaching staff.
Joe Fibbs is the worst; he wanted to be GM, coach etc. He was a successful coach the first time around but he had a GM named Beatherd. He should have insisted that Snyder give him a GM, he is reaping what he has sown.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 2:28 PM
More bad coaching, instead of a sack, I would have a coached a fumble or interception!
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 2:29 PM
If LaRon wouldn't have had that penalty then they would have had to punt. I guess that was the coaches fault too.
Defense gives up 3 points. Fire Al Saunders!!
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 2:30 PM
Network flaked out on me here in the hotel. Can someone summarize the redzone situation there?
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 2:30 PM
This looks like trouble. 69 yards in almost 8 minutes. Mangini is capitalizing on what the Pats exposed last week. They need to toughen up now!
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 2:31 PM
You know, a half-decent coach would have told them to block that FG. Gibbs must go, preferrably before halftime.
Nothing that happens on the field has anything to do with the players, it's all the coaches. I don't know why they even bother to bring the players to the games.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 2:31 PM
I confess I am troubled by the way the Jets (the Jets!) marched down the field and burnt up the clock. Redskins need to to do the same thing themselves now. And get more than an FG.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 2:31 PM
1st down run for minimal gain. 2nd down incomplete pass. 3rd down sack. Jets kick FG.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 2:32 PM
Hmmm not sure if holding a 1-7 team to 3 ponts is an accomplishment or not.
Let's see what the o comes out with. I'm hoping the d stops leaving those underneath passes open all the time.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 2:33 PM
If "Mr." Snyder were to march down there and replace St. Joe, do you think he'd have enough time to get Redskins One to fly Coach Cowher in? I don't think you can fire St. Joe unless you have a successor in place. If it were a Sunday night game, I'd nominate Madden, for sure. I have an Xbox 360, and I must say, I am continually impressed with Madden's playbook, though, to be fair, several a 13 year old can outcoach the old bugger.
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 2:34 PM
Just hope they dont throw deep, the way they keep scoring in bunches the deep pass is entirely unnecessary
Posted by: mofass79 | November 4, 2007 2:35 PM
You can't fire Joe Gibbs in the middle of the season when he has a winning record!
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 2:36 PM
Who's the worse owner, Dan Snyder or Peter Angelos?
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 2:36 PM
Okay I'm starting to think that the shotgun is needed more. I don't remember who said it last week but the timing is necessary. When Soups is under center he has no time or feels he has no time to look down field so dinks and dunks is what he falls back on.
The Jets secondary isn't all that and a bag of chips right? So we should be able to go downfield more but if Soups doesn't feel he has the time . . . am I seeing things too black and white on this?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 2:37 PM
Anybody guess we'd be down 10-3 after the 1st quarter to the Jets? Anybody? Nope, I'm guessing not. Safe to say not a good quarter for St. Joe. We're keeping score.
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 2:37 PM
Pdiddy -- Marty Schottenheimer is available -- he could either replace Fibbs or just take the open GM spot.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 2:37 PM
How about rooting for your team rather than turning on them like a Rosie O'Donnel wannabe?
The Redskins will prevail and all of you boo hooers will have to eat your words.
Also my over is looking very good at this point.
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 2:38 PM
Cindy - I think they are talking about firing him during the game! NFL today studios are in NYC, so Cower is only a stones throw away from the MEadowlands.....
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 2:38 PM
Our offense is circa 1937. Throw a f'ing deep ball or something over the middle. Anyone that thinks undisciplined play has nothnig to do with coaching doesn't know the game.

Anyone thinks Saunders feels guilty bout the 2 million/year he gets for this crap
Posted by: mofass79 | November 4, 2007 2:41 PM
You REALLY can't fire Joe Gibbs in the middle of a GAME!
Think of what fun the NFL would be if that were the case, tho....
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 2:41 PM
Joe Gibbs doesn't have the stones to actually call a play that may lead to a 1st down.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 2:42 PM
Once again, our offensive game plan sucks...run, run, 3 yard pass. Why not cut Moss, its not like he's getting the ball.
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:42 PM
Ugh, Frosty. Come on, dude. Yeesh.
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 2:42 PM
Now the announers trying to say the delay of game was contrived to give the punter more room.
A well coached team like Denver can has gottent their kicking team onto the field with ten seconds to go twice this season -- and got both field goals.

Joe Gibbs Press Conference Ready
I am real proud of our guys. They fought their guts out. We just got beat by a better New York Patriots.
What we got to do is play more physical. Next week we are going to have a heack of a game against Andy Ried and his drug addicted sons.
Heh heh heh....

Posted by: booredskinfanhoo | November 4, 2007 2:43 PM
mofass - read the article about Saunders today in the post if you havent already. This has the fingerprints of Gibbs and his conservative ways all over it. Could be wrong but I think Saunders is being handcuffed by him and an inexperienced QB. You dont go from having the best offenses in the NFL in STL and KC to being a complete incompetent.
Posted by: cdubb | November 4, 2007 2:44 PM
David, The kicking team WAS on the field. That was done on purpose.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 2:44 PM

Posted by: gdennie | November 4, 2007 2:45 PM

Can a coach throw chairs on the sidelines?

Gosh I'll miss them. So much for a newspaper following the 1st amendment.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 2:47 PM
2 boneheaded late hits/cheap shots on the Jets quarterback (which helped them big time) and it's somehow Gibbs' fault? Do you want Gibbs to change these guys diapers?
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 2:47 PM
pathetic
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 2:48 PM
Why do you guys think we are going to lose? Its only the 2nd QTR.....
A football consist of 4 QTRS........

I guess Mangina payed attention to the tape of the Pats game. I thought our D was good and the Jets O was not.

KoolAidDrinker: Hey Jason Campbell is GREAT!!! He's only making his 15th start so he will get better.
NonKoolAidDrinker: Well that Kid from the jets lighting up the Redskins is making his second start
KoolAidDrinker: I hate you for pointing out how stupid i am
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 2:49 PM
I'm not sure what to say at this point. Can someone please point out that you can throw a pass TOWARDS the other teams end zone, and not just towards the sidelines...
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:49 PM
This game is over. Our O can't overcome a 10 or 14 point deficit. F'ing joke.
Posted by: cdubb | November 4, 2007 2:50 PM
All I see is our defense has been exposed. They need to stop this bend and don't break mentality. It is riducoulous......
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 2:51 PM
Okay, 17-3 is bad. And the Jets have been moving the ball...

Hate to agree, but 14 points, thats more than we average a game...how are we going to make that up
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:51 PM
The deadskins could still come back to win, but they should not be playing catch up to a 1-7 team.

4-12, still prescient :-)
We are so SJKed.

So far rhe defense looks confused. This is 2nd year QB with his 2nd start. Oh, they also aren't tackling worth a crap.
Gibbs gas to get a flat team up foe the 2nd half. They did not come to play this game.
The Jets are 1-7.
This is a MUST WIN game!!!
Posted by: gdennie | November 4, 2007 2:52 PM
I believe that was an 80-yard drive on our vaunted D. By a second-start quarterback, no less. The wheels have officially come off. If Gibbs loses this game, it means he's lost this team.
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 2:52 PM
Al Saunders: Um on page 645...i have a play where we throw a screen pass to Moss for a 1 yard gain
Gibbs: thats why i got you on the staff and made you the highest paid coordinator
Saunder: thanks Joe
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 2:53 PM
At least we still have our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks....
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:53 PM
The 'Skins are losing to a team with a *Schottenheimer* on the sideline! WTF!?
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 2:54 PM
Think I will watch the Bill game for awhile, much more competetive.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 2:54 PM
Prediction for this drive...
Campbell fumbles and Jets return it for a TD
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 2:55 PM
Anybody else think this Sunday would be ruined before 2:00. I sure as hell didn't. Time to start drinking heavily. Best of luck with the rest of your days everybody.
Posted by: cdubb | November 4, 2007 2:56 PM
Over is looking better all of the time. Skins are still gonna win, no problem.
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 2:56 PM
my prediction, run for 1 yard, run for -2 yards, then pass to Sellers for 3 yards
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:56 PM
At least we still have our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks....
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 02:53 PM
Joe Gibbs trade his 1st 2nd and 3rd round picks next year for the 4th round draft pick of the Chicago bear..
Gibbs is quoted as saying he's got his eye on someone in the 4th round that will turn this thing around.
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 2:56 PM
prediciton for this drive:
run up the gut = 2 yard gain
reverse = 4 yard loss
screen pass = 3 yard loss
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 2:56 PM
Maybe this is a good thing....
Gibbs 2.4 may (HOPEFULLY) will let Saunders call some plays that will throw the ball down the field......
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 2:57 PM
Keep running you moron, we just need to be more physical...Friggin, idiots.
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:57 PM
Good to see that getting back to Gibbs style of football and being more physical is working out well.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 2:57 PM
Redskins are losers. Down 17-3 to the no account Jets w/ 2nd year sorry ass QB w/ no experience.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 2:58 PM
Thank gawd - something good happened.
Thanks Cooley!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 2:58 PM

Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 2:59 PM

Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 2:59 PM
Too bad Cooley likes Fall Out Boy.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 2:59 PM
yeah, good point. Where are the receivers?
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 3:00 PM
Only Cooley and Sellers have receptions. PATHETIC.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:00 PM
Actually a bad loss here might be good. Maybe finally force some changes in the front office.
Cuz this thing is broke up here.
Posted by: SonofNero | November 4, 2007 3:00 PM
Keep byatchin' like a bunch of Ellen Degeneresses. All of you people need a Midol. yeesh!
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 3:00 PM
What's so bad about Ellen? She's more successful than everyone on this board, combined. Why are ya hatin' on her?
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:01 PM
When will Gibbs realize the Sellers is a bum...
Just keep throwing to him Joe...all those drop passes. Going to set a new NFL record with them
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 3:01 PM
You know it's bad when the best person on your offense is the kicker.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:02 PM
Over is lookin' so schweet. Skins might score 40!
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 3:02 PM
why bother dressing receivers on game day? if there isn't an eruption during half-time by someone, then mail it in the rest of the way, cause this team is just lost
Posted by: gregmarino88 | November 4, 2007 3:02 PM
Please someone say something good about the Skins right now. And it can't be about Swissham making his kicks.
Something good.
Anyone?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:02 PM
a whole 6 points! yeah! We are really bringin' it to the Jets Defense. What a vaunted offense!
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 3:03 PM
Suisham is kicking his guts out!!!!!!!
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:03 PM
Good to see we're finally taking the handcuffs off JC. He's only the 2nd best quarterback on the field...
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 3:03 PM
Something good about 'Skins = They have pretty uniforms.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:04 PM

Posted by: washpo | November 4, 2007 3:04 PM
you knew we were in trouble in the Cardinal game.
Posted by: Soups1 | November 4, 2007 3:04 PM
They're only down by 11. Onside kick! That's good news.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 3:05 PM
No way! No way! No way!
And we almost messed it up!
I'm cackling like a school girl!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:05 PM
Onside kick. Woohoo! 4 more FG's to go and we could have the lead.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:05 PM
nice!
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 3:05 PM
Now that's coaching!
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:06 PM
How sad is it though that they even have to resort an onside kick to begin with?
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:07 PM
You're right we do have pretty uniforms.
Wish I had full faith we could capitalize on this.
Kool Aid! Kool Aid! Kool Aid!
Okay we're gonna score! WOOHOOWOWOWOWOWO
HTTR!!

Ohh booo hooo my gina hurts...fire Gibbs...oh my gina....
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 3:07 PM
I luv it that they did onside kick before halftime.Only Desperate loser teams attempt these when they know theyre being outplayed and its the 1-7 jets.
Posted by: jm220suksbangkok | November 4, 2007 3:08 PM
It is kinda sad that they have to resort to trickery against a 1-7 team, but if that's what it takes to get a jumpstart....fine. I'm eating my Key Lime Yoplait.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 3:09 PM
Captain, it may be the sand inside it, that's causing the discomfort in your gina.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:09 PM
Portis and Colley playing with some pride.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 3:09 PM
Something good about the Skins - Portis has 13 carries for 72 yards.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:10 PM
This IS football. Stop whining.
Keep it going sfskin!
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 3:11 PM

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:12 PM
I vote for 100 yards in first half!
WOOOOHOOO Go CP!!!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:13 PM
Portis averaging 5.6 YPC. We should be able to hit a deep route soon.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:14 PM
Definitely sand in the gina for you guys. Root for your team and quit complainin' like a bunch of nasally female Triple X "I'm on a Mexican Radio" tryin' to be hip losers.

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:15 PM
How is it sad that we had an onsides kick? It seems to me that our coaching staff noticed something when reviewing the Jets film.
Give the coaches credit on that one.
Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 3:16 PM
We're in position for the chip shot FG
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:16 PM

Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 3:18 PM

I know it's the safe thing to get the points. I know. I know. I know.
But at this point why not go for it?
But okay we got points! Yay! Points! Woo!

In other news:
Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler was sidelined with an injury to his lower left leg early in the second quarter Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Cutler left the game when his legs and ankles were twisted as Shaun Rogers sacked him, then another Lion hit him as he was going down. Cutler was helped off the field and was later taken off it on a cart as he unstrapped his shoulder pads.
Patrick Ramsey replaced him, then completed his first pass of the season to give the Broncos a first down.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 3:19 PM
I'm telling you all, Suisham IS KICKING HIS GUTS OUT!!!!
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:19 PM
Another bad play by Torrence
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:20 PM
Yeah, I saw that Ramsey is in. I wish him all the luck in the world, seems like he's a great guy.
Right on, Poopy, Suisham IS kicking his guts out!!! LOL!!!

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:22 PM
Playing this way, our D will continue to drop in the league ratings.
Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 3:22 PM
Keep the pressure coming please.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:23 PM
Defense held, good for redskins
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 3:23 PM
53 yarder, huh? Let's hope Nugent isn't kicking his guts out, too.
Posted by: CBT | November 4, 2007 3:24 PM
BLOCK THAT KICK
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:24 PM
Sean taylor is no Devin Hester but nice try though.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:25 PM
What if...
That would have been a DISASTER...
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 3:25 PM
Not to diss Taylor, but why in the world do you put Taylor back there?
He only plays the ball if there's a return, yet he is not someone you normally use for returning.
If you wanted to return it, shouldn't you have used Thrash or Cartwright?
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 3:27 PM
I see that we just got another FG. Since I can't watch the game, I can only assume that we are FOGO????
(Fighting Our Guts Out)
Posted by: cmecyclist | November 4, 2007 3:28 PM
Now it's time for some halftime adjustments (oh, no!).
Posted by: Alan4 | November 4, 2007 3:28 PM
How is this kid throwing on us at will? Is Williams still working out of the cover 2 shell? (I can't see the game up in Beantown) At least Rocky came through at the end of the half. Man, this is pathetic.
I hate when the marines ad pops up at the half on ESPN gamecast...always scares the piss out of me.
Posted by: jeffhayes | November 4, 2007 3:29 PM
No worries now. 'Skins own the second half.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 3:30 PM
I remember my childhood in the 80s watching games where announcers said on a regular basis that gibbs was a master of the half time adjustment.
I miss the 80s
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 3:31 PM
Now let's see if a fired up Redskins team comes out for the second half. They rae just down a touchdown and should put the Jets away.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 3:33 PM
Useless interesting stat: out of 18 NFL teams currently playing, the Skins have more points than 8 of them going into halftime.
Why? Because Suisham is kicking his guts out!
Posted by: Alan4 | November 4, 2007 3:35 PM
>>> "I miss the 80s"
Funny thing. I'm on the road with a co-worker who has two teenage girls. Apparently, leg warmers are back in style and a Grease-like musical is really popular. The 80s are back. Next thing you know, Hollywood will make a movie about a "re-imagined" Max Headroom (3-D Virtual Max Headroom!). No writers necessary for that script, it practically writes itself!
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 3:35 PM
hmm. does anyone else for some reason think the toyota logo (derivative that looks like a man, w/ hair) reminds them of jimmy johnson?
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 3:36 PM
PDiddy: and Transformers, He-Man and Voltron are cool again :)
Though I must say that DC Animated Universe cartoons are better than what existed in the 80s :)
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 3:38 PM
The way Portis is running I would sadly expect them to stick with him in the 2nd half.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:38 PM
I liked the last two drives from the offense. This is what we have been looking for all season. Portis looked good running. I knoow the Jets have own of the worst run defense's in the league but I think if the offense picks up where we left off and the defense throws in some more stunts and blitz packages Clemens will get rattled. Lul the Jets to sleep with the run defense. All Sellars has to do is catch that ball and then he starts the steamroller. We were just a couple of mishaps and plays away from the lead. Hope they can get the momentum back in second half. Time to go!
Posted by: straub21 | November 4, 2007 3:39 PM
spotter, you are SO right. I am addicted to those Superman and Batman cartoons. Yes, I'm a closet comic book nerd (well, not really in the closet on that one :-) ). I only wish Green Lantern would get his own cartoon. Can't wait for the Justice League live action film!
Has the game started again...GamePass is being a wee bit flaky.
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 3:40 PM
Saunders must be calling the plays now.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:41 PM
so far, looks so some half time adjustments on offense
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:41 PM
They're setting up for that deep ball with in the next 2 drives........
Posted by: RightWay | November 4, 2007 3:42 PM
Why are we throwing deep to Thrash. Get him out of there please!
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:42 PM
They're making a Justice League live action film?!?! Woohoo!
Hey look ma it's the long ball to . . .James Thrash? Oh well we took the shot.
WoohOO!!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:43 PM

Yeehaw FG! We're coming to getcha Jets!
Okay these Southwest commercials are effin hye-larious!!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:46 PM
Confucius-skins says: "Who needs a touchdown when you can get 3 field goals?"
Also, for any BLloyd haters, I submit this question: can BLloyd ever supplant Michael Westbrook as the worst Redskin reciever ever? Who destroyed team morale more?
To help you answer that question, follow this link to the Youtube video where Westbrook sucker-punched Stephen Davis, then hit him repeatedly while he was down.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viNQY16V3bo
Posted by: Alan4 | November 4, 2007 3:47 PM
Now it's time to see what GG's adjustments were? 3 and out on the first drive is a must. Then again, we need to stop Leon Washington first!
Posted by: straub21 | November 4, 2007 3:47 PM
now let's see if the redskin's defense read Wilbon's article on their pats performance. They should start pressuruing the rookie.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 3:48 PM
lots of empty seats!

I'm going to mastercard.com and ordering up a Peyton Manning peptalk for the Redskins.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 3:50 PM

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:51 PM
Westbrook actually played in games, caught passes and even TD's
B.Lloyd is a ghost, worst trade ever for the Skins and stupidest contract extension.
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 3:53 PM
Two more field goals and the Redskins are ahead!
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 3:53 PM
We're getting the pressure on him but our slow D line can't catch him and everyone else is too busy trying to protect from the big play.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 3:54 PM
Who says you need to score touchdowns to win in the nfl.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 3:54 PM

Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 3:59 PM
The good news - Soups held on. He saw it, tucked it in kind of and held on.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 3:59 PM
BLloyd doesn't get any balls thrown his way, while Westbrook was supposedly a #1 wideout (4th pick in the draft, right?). But Lloyd's teammates actually seem to like him... I don't think Westbrook had many friends on the team.
I blame BLloyd's situation on coaching, to a degree. He doesn't have the best attitude, but I think he's being Arrington'd.
Westbrook was given EVERY opportunity, and I think he was just a cancer on the team most of the time he was here.

We can't dominate a 1-7 team. They are all going to be tough.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:21 PM
This is an issue for the fine folks at Loseable Type, who don't work weekends.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 4:22 PM
I better stop making predictions, every time something bas happens.
Wait I should only make Jets predicitions
Yeah, that's the ticket
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:22 PM
The beginning of the end for Elton John's A A A Adam Sandler and the Jets
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 4:24 PM
TheCindy, I'll work weekends. $175/hr, four hour minimum. :)
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:24 PM
Is it just me, or does portis not have that last gear anymore?
Back in the day, he would have outrun those defenders easily.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:24 PM
Ravens, Giants, Bengals and Eagles couldn't dominate the Jets either. They're a damn good 1-7 team if you ask me.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:24 PM
Cleeeeennnnntttoooooonnnnn!!!!
Could this be the turn around game? I guess we have to win it first.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:24 PM
Running game looks SWEET today.

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:28 PM
Do mine eyes deceive me?
Did we just score a TD?
Did we just get 2 pt conversion?
Did we just score 20 POINTS??
Unicorns! I think I see unicorns!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:28 PM
2 point conversion - good call coach - good thing he didn't get fired at halftime...
Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 4:28 PM
Note: That Drive was sustained by runs, not by passing (albiet one majorly long run from Clinton)
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:28 PM
Unusual move by the NFL. By proclamation of TheCindy, receptions by wide receivers for 2 pt conversions will henceforth be considered TDs. Congratulations to the 'Skins.
Posted by: PDiddy | November 4, 2007 4:29 PM
That's for all you haters....

Posted by: captjim | November 4, 2007 4:30 PM

Posted by: SMACK1 | November 4, 2007 4:30 PM
RightWay are you 4th?
Or is 4th the hater?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:31 PM
/me notes that Thunder being composed of sound waves is Invisible.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:31 PM
Ok Grilliams, lets go, 3 and out boys!
Posted by: kost52 | November 4, 2007 4:31 PM
Now, we need the Defense to go after the Jets while they are down!
Pressure, big hits, maybe a turnover here!!
I don't want to see that formation we saw vs. Detroit, Arizona and NE!
Rush this inexperienced QB!
Posted by: RedskinRay1 | November 4, 2007 4:32 PM
Redskins aren't playing horribly on either side of the ball, but I think it more shows that while the Jets have a lot of fight in them, they aren't a very good team.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:32 PM
JLaC is busy drafting his "blow another 4th quarter lead" story.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:32 PM
Just don't put us in a prevent defense
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:33 PM

Detroit and New Orleans are both winning lately and kicking butt today!

4th - RW - gotcha thanks! Seems weird to say but not knowing what the new handles are makes me feel like there's all these newbies on the blog.
GO OFFENSE!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:39 PM
Take a knee Joe, take a knee. This is way to risky!
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 4:39 PM
That was so weird, seeing tony talking due to the heads on QB shot.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:40 PM
sfskin, betcha can't guess what my old handle was:-)
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:40 PM
I guess that's the advantage of HD, there's just so much detail you dont normally see.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:40 PM
Please go and drive and try to score! Please!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:40 PM
Bring out Frost. That first down was luck.
Take a knee!!!!

Grande Pescado - never occured to me you are an oldie. Um dealer?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:42 PM
I wonder if they're giving up on this sharing the carries dealy.
Portis 29 carries
Betts 5 carries
Posted by: kost52 | November 4, 2007 4:42 PM
Afraid to pass?
Posted by: SMACK1 | November 4, 2007 4:42 PM

For God's sakes Gibbs...YOU ARE UP 3 PTS
NOT 30
Throw a Pass or 2
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 4:43 PM
Unusual move by the NFL. By proclamation of TheCindy, receptions by wide receivers for 2 pt conversions will henceforth be considered TDs. Congratulations to the 'Skins.

But only on the Sunday after Daylight Savings Time ends.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 4:43 PM
Come on mow. I know we have the lead and the running game has been working but on 3rd and long we still hand off. Come on Gibbs. ATTACK!!!
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:43 PM
bigfish old nickname = BOOFER
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 4:44 PM
Grande Pescado - MV Dame? If you aren't MV Dame where is MV?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:44 PM
They're a damn good 1-7 team if you ask me.
As their respective offensive and defensive rankings will attest.
The Arizona win felt like a loss and this game feels like a loss too. A win is a win is a win but the 'Skins strugling with this team is drawing me closer to the realization that the Skins just aren't as good as I first believed.
Posted by: learnedhand1 | November 4, 2007 4:44 PM
great punt + penalty!!!
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:45 PM
Today the Bailey-Portis trade is clearly genius for us.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:45 PM
Where did all the first-half haters go? gdennie, Riggo44, mofass79, mmz114 -- You boys are the long-time 'Skins fans who are only happy when the 'Skins are losing.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 4:45 PM
here come the QB-killers
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:46 PM
LH - fully agreed. Hoping we can pull this out. And then next week it's the real real test.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:47 PM
The Jets have a grand tradition of having something stupid or weird happen to them here.
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 4:47 PM
Are we in "prevent the win" defense?
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:47 PM
Where is MVDame and how many posts do we have?
Posted by: TheCindy | November 4, 2007 4:48 PM
just don't go into the pervert defense.
Posted by: Poopy_McPoop | November 4, 2007 4:48 PM
Area 51 strikes the WR's minds
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:48 PM
Jets can't catch the ball!
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:48 PM
What a pusskins. Smith did the ol' T.O. there.
Posted by: learnedhand1 | November 4, 2007 4:48 PM
Skins getting lucky with these dropped passes. Kind of like the Ravens did against the Jets.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:49 PM
Holding again
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:49 PM
MV has been missing ever since the move from the Vineyard. Hope everything is okay.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:50 PM
We CANNOT let them score a TD - just in case you all had missed that subtle point.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:51 PM
That had to hurt -- Springs and Landry.
Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 4, 2007 4:51 PM
down to the wire.
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 4:52 PM
Another turnover would do nicely, sf.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:52 PM
Is the girl in that hybrid commercial the little girl from californication?
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:53 PM
Could that receiver have had any more of a cushion? I hate when I see that SJK.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:53 PM
Prevent...good going williams. Let them score slowly so the skins don't get the ball back w/ any time.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 4:53 PM
I DON'T understand! They've been throwing underneath ALL day! How do we not see that?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:54 PM
Come on turnover! Gotta hold em gotta hold em!
Posted by: -swb | November 4, 2007 4:54 PM
Why do not the Refs call the holding that is going on?
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:54 PM
Jets are trying to win, are the redskins?
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 4:55 PM
I hate everyone!
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:55 PM
is the D going to blow this one?
Posted by: RedskinRay1 | November 4, 2007 4:55 PM
Redskins are not a playoff team. They should start getting ready for the draft by losing.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 4:55 PM
No killer instinct. Can't sustain a drive for the win. Playing for overtime now.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:55 PM
that was a busted play on both sides of the ball
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:56 PM
cutr they play Ted Nugent for the kicker
Posted by: noone.from.tampa | November 4, 2007 4:56 PM
Time for OT. Hope we get the coin toss. I'm losing faith in our D.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 4:57 PM
they let the clock run a second long. the ref's arms were up at 11s.
Posted by: spotter | November 4, 2007 4:57 PM
pathetic.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 4:57 PM
I will bet you any amount of money that Gibbs call 3 and out if they get the ball in OT.
Then the Jets march down the field and win it.
Then Gibbs go "I am so proud to be an idiot"
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 4:57 PM
C'mon Rock, show me something special!!
Posted by: kost52 | November 4, 2007 4:57 PM
Every game w/ the loser Redskins goes down to the wire. Dolphins, Cards, Eagles all crap teams. Now the 1-7 Jets are tied with the Skins at the end. Gibbs should just quit. He is completely incompetent.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 4:58 PM
Erggggg
BTW - how does this sound.
"Bengals Head Coach Greg Williams"
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 4:58 PM
Or maybe not.
Posted by: kost52 | November 4, 2007 4:59 PM
Gibbs plays not to lose nowadays. He has no killer instinct, and neither does his team. He's become a coward as a coach. Williams now coaches that way.
Very, very sad.
Posted by: keithward64 | November 4, 2007 4:59 PM
News flash...
Adrian Peterson has 250 yards rushing and 3 TDs against the Bolts.
Posted by: swowra | November 4, 2007 5:00 PM
Grande Pescado - any hints on former self?
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 5:01 PM
Up 20-17 we run 6 times in a row and have to punt. That is why we are going into OT now.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 5:01 PM
Yes. In OT we take a knee. It would be to risky to run a play because we might fumble or get intercepted, and then the Jets will have good field position. Better to let the defense win it because they are playing so well!
That message was sent up to Al.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 5:02 PM
Nice way to pad Ladell's stats.
Posted by: kost52 | November 4, 2007 5:02 PM
I have been known to post under bigfish.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 5:02 PM

tails
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 5:02 PM
Jets ball. Game over.
Posted by: mmz114 | November 4, 2007 5:03 PM
No faith in our D. This is not good.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 5:03 PM
Oh what the heck I vote for onsides kick!
Thanks bigfish that was really revelatory. : )
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 5:03 PM
Gibbs has to be really happy. If the offense doesn't take the field because the Jets win, it won't be his fault!
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 5:05 PM
sfskin -
bigfish has always been bigfish.
Posted by: TheCrickets007 | November 4, 2007 5:06 PM

Crickets - yeah I kinda figured but I'm trying to distract myself and my heart and blood pressure from this cardiac event on my TV.
Posted by: sfskin | November 4, 2007 5:08 PM
Lucky again with a dropped pass.
Posted by: bigfish | November 4, 2007 5:08 PM
i am turning in my membership to the Redskin fan club if we lose this effing game.
Posted by: X_1967 | November 4, 2007 5:08 PM
Ok big O. let's go
Posted by: DavidAu | November 4, 2007 5:09 PM
I fear this is the beginning of the end for our intrepid reciever. Good riddance. No Coles should help us.
