this is a new run. must we compare? i know it makes for good journalism and blog discussion. let's just get the win on sunday and then beat the 'beatable' Seahawks in Seattle. what will be interesting is the decision coach Gibbs will have regarding who starts at QB since JC might actually be physically ready to play. I say go with the hot hand and Collins is definitely that.

When you think back to that 2005 stretch, things really broke in the Redskins' favor. Their victories v. Rams and Cardinals were relatively hardfought. They peaked against Dallas, had a nice win v. Giants (even with Patrick Ramsey!), and then fought back from an early deficit against the Eagles. and then in the playoff game, we won despite our offense. I seem to remember that the Redskins set the record for fewest yards gained in a playoff win.

This year has a different feel to it. I realize that in the Bears game Portis had the fewest rushing yards in a victory for the skins since the 70s, and the following week Collins had the worst completion percentage for the Redskins in a victory in 35+ years.

but in both of those games, the Redskins controlled the game and the outcome honestly was never in doubt. There were fears that we'd blow another 2nd half lead but that's simply because of what's happened earlier this year. The games themselves were never in doubt. We also dominated the Vikings on the road. This was a road version of our home win over Dallas in 2005...likely our best played game of the streak each year.

so now we have dallas again. regardless of whom they put on the field, this game will be close. Let's hope Saints lose at 1pm and Vikings are down 20 at halftime.

I just heard on First Take that Sean Payton called Tony Romo and asked for "help." Payton was concerned that Romo would not be playing on Sunday and asked Tony to take care of the Skins for him. Romo assured him that he will and now the Saints are excited and giddy.

It's hilarious that he would call Romo and ask for help. I know they have a relationship and all but if he were to ask anyone for help it should be God. He should ask T.O to magically get better because he is the only one with talent.

Atleast Romo assured him, maybe he hasn't assured anyone the last 2 games. He's been looking great.

He can get all the help he wants. The longer he stays in the more likely he will get hurt. I am not saying it is done, but as long as we do not beat ourselves it won't matter what they do.

It cracks me up, people act like the Cowboys can just turn it on and win. News flash if they are better than the Redskins at all, it's not by much. Romo better call Phillips and ask him for "help" to get his ass out of the game before he is eating cleats.

good point. the playoff game in tampa was ugly. if i recall correctly, the Reaper scored on a fumble return and Arrington gave us a short field on an INT that he should have returned for a score also. it was dejavu for the bucs because their apprent late td pass was overturned. that was the same year we had them beat in the reg season down there when we stopped Alstott on that 2 point conversion run that the ref's said was inconclusive and let the call on the field stand. then we went on to seattle and knocked s alexander out of the game and let his backup and hasselbeck beat us.

When the time comes (if it comes) that Soup is ready to play, it will probably be a game time decision, whether to start Collins or Campbell.

They won't start Campbell unless he's a 100 percent. I can see them using both Campbell and Collins in the same game too.

But when I do a Google search of it, nothing comes up.

Likewise, there's nothing about it in the New Orleans Times Picayune sports section, either.

Might be just another ESPN "story" with bad sources.

If TC plays well, we have to stick with him. At this point you play the one who gives you the best chance to win. Now, if he struggles and we eke out a W, that's a different story. Never take the hot hand out.

Unlike 2005, Seattle doesn't even try to the run the ball anymore these days, so if the Redskins get to the Great Northwest (have to TCB Sunday first), I think have a great shot.

Incidentally, if Washington did advance past Seattle, wouldn't they go to Dallas, regardless of who wins the NYG/TB game?

s alexander had an injury but has been in their line-up the last few weeks and seen limited action. the seahawks have essentially played without him or much of a run game this season. losing that lineman to minnesota hurt them too as they were not running with much success before alexander's injury. their O has been comparable to Green Bay's this season as most of their damage has been through the air. here's alexander's stat line the last 3 weeks

News flash: Dallas is 13-2, the 'Skins aren't. Dallas is the better team, as the records indicate.

'Skins best hope is for Dallas to pack it in early, go home and take their two week break.

Dallas did have a slightly easier schedule. There two open games were Stl and Car. Ours were TB and AZ.

This is like your comments a week ago that Randy Thomas' importance "cannot be overstated". Too bad you didnt try and actually state that while you said Portis wasnt playing well, the coaches arent very inventive. NOW it cant be overstated that our starting offensive line was cut in half by injuries.

As ridiculous as this sounds, I hope we eek out this victory and collins does not play well. Granted, he is due some credit for us rolling off the last three, but I feel his time is coming for a bad game. I hope that bad game is against dallas and not seattle. I also dont think this team is not going to the super bowl, so let JC get in there in seattle so we can really see what the kid has got in him. Its time that weird al and coach joe take the reigns off him like they did with Collins. In my opinion JC is ALOT more dangerous that TC, and he is our only chance to make it to zona..
